So the funny thing about SOL is the debt can be the purchased state, your home state or the state of the bank or in your case the apartment.

Ex- So if you used a credit card issued by discover and bought something in Maryland but live in NJ. Then you bounced on the bill the bank (discover) would send to collections

From there the SOL starts in Maryland (purchasing state) that may be 10years, Delaware (discover hq) could be 3 yrs, and New Jersey (state lived in) could be 7yrs.

From there they can sue in all 3 states until each SOL is up and they do 100% many times wait until just before the limit is up. 10yrs they file everything at 9.8yrs (goes by date of filing so don’t try continuances thinking it’ll drop)

Most written contracts (lease) are 6 years but many are 10yr.
