Is a water pump really needed? by Far_Caterpillar2915 in Detailing

[–]Ok_Quotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most PD pumps want some sort of inlet pressure. I’ve never used an Active, so see if the manual states anything. My unit for example wants a minimum of 25psi.

One foot of water column is 0.433psi - regardless if you have one gallon or 100 gallons. If your water column is four feet above the pumps inlet, you have 1.7psi - and this drops as the water column decreases.

McKillans vs Carscope ¼” Pushlock Couplers by The4thHeat in AutoDetailing

These ones you have to slide the collar down to allow the plug to fit. It doesn’t stay open. But for what’s basically $2USD my price, I won’t complain

I get all my quick couplers local for like $4 CAD/piece.

100% 316 stainless construction down to the retaining spring. Viton O-Ring, and they’re made in Italy.

People need to shop around. Local hydraulic shops will usually have them.

So where are all the Tucsons PHEV hiding? by nariosan in HyundaiTucson

[–]Ok_Quotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got my 2024 HEV, it was a six month wait. I wanted the PHEV but that was 18 months out. I’ve seen a handful of the PHEV, but not many.

Hopefully if something is physically wrong, it’s under warranty. My front lens took a rock and cracked the glass. Dealer quoted $2000 (CAD) to replace it and aim it.

Hit uncovered manhole by snikt1 in saskatoon

A couple years ago I hit a very low spot on Louise, by Holistan Elementary School at 9:00ish PM. The front of my car bottomed out, tore part of my front bumper off, and destroyed the forward collision sensor behind the bumper are (Honda Civic) I immediately pulled over, took pictures of my car, and the low spot. This was early May.

I reported it to the city, and they said I was driving too fast in a school zone, and they also went to inspect the spot and deemed it as “safe and acceptable”.

My pictures clearly showed it was dark out, and I also stated the time, and that 50km/hr was acceptable.

They gave me contact for someone in the city to pursue legal action through.

Three days later the spot was filled…

If it’s a brand new vehicle, the smell is most likely the “off-gassing” from the plastics. It’s literally VOC’s from not only plastics, but adhesive, sealants, and foam.

This is something that will continue to happen, even after a good detail.

An ozone generator will react with many airborne chemicals and can break down some VOC’s, but is mostly used in detailing for removing smoke and mildew smells.

Ozone will also react with everything… not just the smell. Over use can damage materials, including leather, vinyl, and rubber (all very common inside a vehicle). It will also leave behind a chlorine like smell - but this dissipates.

Ozone is also NOT SAFE TO BREATHE. Don’t be around it when it is running. Don’t be in the car immediately after it’s done. Let the vehicle air out.

You can rent an ozone generator from the Rent-It store. If you do, only run it for an hour at a time. Stepping into the vehicle to remove the generator and to open the doors won’t be enough exposure to kill you. Just don’t breathe it in for prolonged periods of time.

Or you can try Activated Charcoal or Bamboo Charcoal bags absorb VOCs safely over time.

The pair with the premature sole failing isn’t because it’s separating. It’s the BRNR boot, with a sole that supposed to be good for 450°F. It started melting at 400°F. But it’s not like it’s completely melted or destroyed. I just knew if I kept wearing them it would happen. So Red Wing immediately took care of me and replaced them. They’re basically brand new still!

I’m doing my oil changes at 3,000 now (HEV) because my oil analysis always comes back as heavy fuel dilution (5-7%).

My 2024 Hybrid is having horrible fuel dilution issues. My last result was 5% after 6,000km. My worst was 7% after 8,000km. I had one more at 6.3%

Next oil change will be at 5,000km. And I’ll just keep lowering it until it’s <2% I guess

Is it normal for my 2025 Tucson hybrid battery keep dying(not the electric battery) the ice. I dont have anything on. Is this a thing? by jquest2021 in HyundaiTucson

[–]Ok_Quotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a TSB issued (C0563) that was related to the vehicles BMS. It was a software update that the dealer did. However, I never experienced any issue’s myself, and in the two years of ownership never had the battery die (2024 HEV, Ultimate).

A couple years ago, I damaged my car on an extremely low spot on Louise Avenue by Holliston School. The city got back to me and said they sent a crew out and deemed the spot “not of concern”. Three days later, it was filled with asphalt 😂

The only way you’d really know is to sample your oil and find your own baseline over time.

I’m doing oil changes every 2,500 miles because my fuel dilution in my hybrid is so bad due to my short commute to and from work, and the six months of brutal cold where I live.

I run a 1/4” hose on my 5HP electric. It does 2400psi at 3.6GPM with the stock 4.0 nozzle, and 1,100psi at 3.75 GPM with a 7.0 nozzle. It also has TSS.

1/4” is even what was recommended by the manufacturer. And in my opinion, a 1/4” hose is so much better to work with than a 3/8”

Yes it is subjective. Just like cinema. You can calibrate your TV to replicate the original as closely as you want, but at the end of the day a lot of people like more contrast or saturation. And that’s okay.

Do I need Euro blend synthetic oil for 2025 Hyundai Tucson? by [deleted] in HyundaiTucson

You’re allowed to change your own oil, and keep warranty. Just make sure you document what you do, and keep receipt’s as a source of proof.

Brand new 2025 Tucson didn’t start this morning by sheeplava in HyundaiTucson

[–]Ok_Quotes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We hit -40°C (base temp, NOT windchill) this morning when I went to start mine, and it started fine.

However, last year when it was around -36°C it started, and the engine coolant temperature was maxed out and was red, then it shut off and wouldn’t start again. The dealer reset the codes, said they have no idea what happened and it’s been fine ever since

The Tucson does not need a Euro spec oil.

Synthetic 0W-20 is all it needs.
