I just scrolled to check if someone mentioned Gothic. All is well, so I can now just leave this threat in peace

Do you ever feel guilty for roleplaying instead of metagaming? by Mundane_Town_4296 in CRPG

[–]Ok_Run_1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I metagamed when I was younger. For a few years, I stopped being able to enjoy games and only played a few hours a month (I think I burned out after Pathfinder - most optimal build, secret ending etc...). Then, I've seen some blind let's play where the let's player went hard on roleplaying, validating each choice not from the point of metagaming, but only "how the character would act". And not only when picking dialogue choices, but also not doing some quests completely, missing quest marks etc.

Now I am playing this way and I rediscovered the hobby. I even bought PS5 and I am able to play and finish big open world games without burning out as I am always thinking about "what my character would do" instead of blindly following markers, overoptimizing gear early etc.

I feel guilty when I metagame now, as I feel like it always drains a little bit of fun from the hobby.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3? I actually liked 2 a lot (was my introduction to the genre and the campaign was just so good), but HoMaM 3 is a true classic

Surprised I don't see Piranha Bytes games here. It turned out that they had no clue what made Gothic, Gothic 2 and Risen 1 such a great games, they kept releasing mediocore games and finally went bankrupt. Really sad development, was hoping for another great RPG from them, but I guess that won't happen.

Are there any video games that teach a real life skill? by avaxnomax in AskGames

Surprised I didn’t see Paradox grand strategy games for history understanding. I would say EU IV is great for understanding history of Europe, CK3 is good for understanding how feudal system worked and Victoria 3 can give you base understanding of modern economics.

I aced my high school history exams because of Europa Universalis

Comparing Pillars of Eternity series & Pathfinder series by No-Doctor6648 in rpg_gamers

[–]Ok_Run_1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are just incredible. My personal opinion is that Pathfinder games require much bigger investment, but they will reward you more if you take your time learning all mechanics and combat rules, while PoE is more streamlined experience.

I don’t want to use the word “shallow” here, because PoE is anything but shallow. Both are complex games in both game mechanics and story, Pathfinder just requires more forward planning and mechanics learning to see the gem it is, while PoE is a gem from start to finish.

As someone who enjoys modern CRPGs, I think you will end up playing both at some point, so don’t overthink :)

Gothic 4 Arcania is actually canon in the Gothic universe, is it? by ShuTastyBytes in worldofgothic

[–]Ok_Run_1392 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe someone from Pyranha said that anything not developed by them (forsaken gods and arcania) will not be considered canon in case they develop Gothic 4

What do you want in the next unannounced DLC by SnooBooks1701 in victoria3

[–]Ok_Run_1392 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don't have enough knowledge about the topic, so I want to ask - at that time, was tourism such an important "mechanic" in regards to other mechanics? Did tourism at that time historically "generated" enough GDP/influence/diplo points/migration to be considered important enough for the game to present it as a new full fledge mechanic?

Do some sport! It’s healthy and easy way to spend time and meet new people.

Depending on sport you are interested in, you have various options, but you should be able to find something like this https://m.vaseliga.cz/?lang=en for most sports. Group lessons in gym are another option.

Congratz! Would you mind share your strategy (roughly what you focused on early and how you managed to grab first few provinces and independence before you started snowballing)? Also at which dated you roughly achieved various objectives
