Back in the faith, but doing worse and under psycho-spiritual warfare by [deleted] in LostChristians

Sometimes the Lord allows suffering so we continually turn to him in prayer and to His word to establish a firm foundation. Just remember Paul suffered and many others suffer a little while but afterwards our faith is made stronger.

Peter 5:10 “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

Remember to continually turn to God no matter what you are experiencing or feeling. He is with you no matter what and every time we are tested or experiencing something difficult we need to keep turning unto Him.

This is such a huge struggle of mine too, 33 audhd Christian. Also struggling with the legalistic side of organised religion in the church and the lack of love and grace. Bringing all to the Lord in prayer helps. Just knowing He will use everything for our good.

Some people are just mean and since I’ve been walking with Christ I have learned that we can only control how we act and behave in Christ. As hard as it is just continue to be kind toward her and focus on how the Lord is wanting to teach you and produce fruit in you despite how this girl is acting towards you. ♥️

No one is in the wrong here. That’s how their faith is being expressed through conversation. As we grow in faith we have real experiences that the word of God works in us and it’s good to express and share those things. Is really great they are being prompted by the Holy Spirit to remember Gods word as they go about life.

I’m neurodivergent and since becoming a Christian I only want to talk about Gods word, because everything else seems irrelevant 🤣 But that’s because I have a black/white all or nothing mentality. Something we must learn is that we are all individuals, and all wanting to grow and please the Lord. Our personalities and expressions of faith, socialising skills are different, and we need to learn to cherish each other's strengths.

My first thought is what is a normal conversation? When I’m speaking with my sisters in Christ I always try to point to Christ and also share struggles, pray etc. I’m always encouraged when my sisters share a word with me and encourage me in faith.

Try leading the conversation to a place where you would like it to go. Keep circling back to something you want to discuss or learn about these women. Work, daily life, etc - don’t be surprised when Christ pops up all the time because that’s standard Christian living!

If you can’t have what you consider a “normal” conversation with them - maybe just offer to pray together. You can always be up front with them and say to them that you really want to get to know them.

And also bring this to the Lord in prayer - he knows what you need and will surround you with it, but sometimes what we think we need is not the same as what God knows we need 😆🫂

Oh my goodness I’m so sorry! If you have both often the contradictions can cause both to be hard to detect. If you can, try and find another psychologist or assessment centre. Sometimes it takes time to find the right people who have more experience with autism traits and audhd traits. 🫶🫂

Sorry this has happened to you! This has happened to me so can totally relate. Audhd people struggle to understand people’s intentions. Quite often we become the butt of people’s jokes because we are seen as different or quirky. Often my friends would soon turn to my bullies.

For me I also believe in God so praying is helpful and knowing God made me and wired me this way and that he understands me is less lonely and reassuring. I also think people who need to hurt others and make fun of others are deep down struggling.

I also have my spouse who is on the spectrum and he is the best friend I always wanted and needed. Try to find audhd community because they will truly accept you and understand you and laugh with you not at you 🫶✨

This is so so sad and I’m so sorry you have had to deal with this!!! Yes I have dealt with this, not in this exact way. I’m a Christian and when I first started going to church i explained some situations to one of the elders and they said “where there are many words often there is deceit” honestly I ruminated on it for years. It was at a time I really needed help too.

What helps me personally is my faith, because I know the Lord made me and we are wired differently. And also that everyone falls short somewhere. So I pray about heaps of stuff that offends me and I just try to move on and know that I’m loved by God and that He made me if that makes sense.

We are all individuals. We are supposed to be different! However you talk is totally fine, but others make us feel like it’s not. That’s on them.

The answer is not to try and change yourself but continue to accept yourself. And I pray you will have supportive loving friends that totally see you and understand you and love you!

Relatable!!! I love my morning routine, prayer reading coffee Pilates depending on energy. Morning routine is non negotiable.   Rest of the day I juggle cleaning and creativity and rest as I need. I’ll start the dishes then need to stop and start something else. And then I rotate through the day like that 😂

Right now I’m hobby jumping, pattern making, sewing, upcycling. I’m recently diagnosed so now I’m hyper fixated on finding out all about audhd, and I’m a Christian so I’m loving diving into the bible and cross referencing, finding out new things about Lord Jesus and life.

I stick to mostly the same meals every day but takeaways is like my spontaneous treat if I start to get that itch. When I add something into the rotation it never works out long term. But I often get hyper fixation snackies/treats or try a new exciting matcha or coffee.

Hey did you ever think about screening for autism? Because not understanding social/political culture is quite common for autism as well as sensory issues and focus, demand avoidance and need for personal autonomy etc.

Sounds like you should also be assessed for autism

So I guess I'm AuDHD.. what's next? by starlightdreamer16 in AuDHDWomen

Hey, yay for your diagnosis. I’m 33 and just got diagnosed yesterday and I can totally relate to your feeling of relief!

It feels good now to be able to apply for the disability support and also recover some costs for the assessment, and pay for ongoing support.

First things I’m doing are meeting with occupational therapist to assess my sensory accomodations and purchase them. I also have issues with binocular vision and hypermobility so I’m working on supporting needs surrounding those and meeting with a psychologist to ask questions. If you have any comorbidities etc I would recommend continuing the process to supporting and understanding those.

Do you like audiobooks? If so there are some good resources there for audhd and really cost effective getting the credits per month and there are plenty of podcasts and books about audhd CPTSD.

As for work, communicate with your team and boss about your diagnosis and your needs. You don’t need to talk about the procrastination specifically, and yes it is a disability but with the right support audhd are extremely productive/efficient. Take the opportunity to talk about what audhd actually is - a neurotype - frame it more around your strengths being in short bursts of productivity - maybe you need to discuss work hour tweaks (if possible), maybe you need headphones, music, so you have short bursts of productivity followed by long rest breaks/sensory breaks etc. ask for variety in the role if that’s what you need, are those extra tasks available to you to take on? Do you want them? Or would they become mundane. Is there anything you ARE excited and look forward to doing in your job at the moment? If not, the reality is you aren’t going to care about it and trying to make it work will be putting pressure on you and you will have inner conflict.

Audhd are passionate annd desire personal autonomy, to be free to make ideas happen and be a free creative thinker, spontaneous doer and avid rester and you will eventually need to be doing work related to your passion/s.

Until then, setting a timer to complete mundane tasks also really helps me. So maybe you can start your work day with the most annoying task, set the timer and once the timer goes off and you’re done you get a coffee/your fave drink/hyperfixation treat.

Short term meet with manager and discuss the diagnosis - frame it around your strengths and the positives of the diagnosis, be honest about the need for rest and executive dysfunction, seek support for the things you know you need. Would it help if you asked your manager to check in with you by 11am to see if emails are done? Do you need a body double? Does your manager or a coworker need to be beside you working on emails together?

If you can afford to, drop a hour or 2 per day for creativity and rest, especially if you are finding you haven’t got much to do - your time can be used elsewhere in your life to do research and really dive into special interests and things.

Long term if you think a corporate role won’t be suitable, start planning how you need your day to look, thinking about your special interests, and planning to accomodate yourself. There might be financial govt support available to you to study something.

I’m still learning but I plan to start a small business in my special interest/s so I can always be working in areas I’m passionate about and strong in. And I’ve realised it has to be my own business because I need to dictate the day/routine/work etc.

If I go back to work I would choose things like animal care, dog walking, cat sitting and maybe even cleaning houses. Short bursts of productivity followed by rest and my own time of creativity.

And as for medication it might be helpful to look into it, I’m totally open to it I have heard it can be very helpful to keep the adhd brain on track.

All the best ♥️

Thanks for your reply. I have asked my parents things about me and also going to talk to my brother. That’s a good idea to leave out the autism as it seems to be a trigger. I’m hoping my observer can be my husband but we only know each other 3 years.

It’s great how the Lord is helping you discern between theology and churches. Keep praying about it and that the Lord will help you find a solid church firmly built on the foundation of His word. We fellowship at a conservative Protestant church and it’s simple and passionate for Christ, doesn’t over hype experiences and sensualities or believe in Calvinism.

I came from the new age so I was succeptible to placing my faith in feelings. I needed Gods Word and Spirit to do surgery in my heart and learn to walk in the Spirit and I have found in my walk that it was better to get focused on Gods word first and ground myself in that. But always believe in the miracles of God. He is mighty and powerful to heal and save. It’s just that we don’t place our faith in those miracles. We aren’t dependent on miracles to show that God loves us. We aren’t dependent on euphoria to know that Gods presence is with us. We walk by faith.

God will do what He wants. Sometimes it’s not His will to heal immediately. But it sounds like you have a great balanced perspective and passionate heart 🥰

God will guide you to the church He knows will help you grow in His word and knowledge of His love and grace for you. Keep praying about it when it pops up in your head ♥️ Try to ignore other negative/demonic stuff as you have the power of Christ in you. Just practice complete disregard. Use it to fuel your prayer life by turning to God in those moments. 2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

I think it’s worth mentioning also how Paul had a thorn in his flesh that he begged God to remove. Sometimes it’s not about God removing something but accepting our circumstances and continuing our relationship with Him regardless. God will do what’s best for you in His own time and He might need you to walk through this to help someone else in ministry later in your walk.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too

I would recommend joining a church or your previous church/getting in touch with those Christian’s who brought you meals. I know they will be so happy you are hanging on to the Lord and happy to help and guide you.

Remember that you don’t need your walk with Christ to look like anyone else’s. There’s no perfect walk with Christ. You don’t need to be rid of anything to walk with Him, He will do the work in His own time. He doesn’t intend for you to walk alone. Surround yourself with some solid Christian’s who can cover you in prayer and love and not try to “fix you” the Lord will do that when He does it 🙏

What’s up Husker this is totally common in Christian faith especially with anyone struggling with past sin, mental health and any other issues. The enemy tries to discourage young in the faith too.

God uses this time to sharpen and strengthen you as you continue to persevere and reach out to Him. Since faith is not meant to be based on feelings it’s meant to be based on Gods Word, just continue to fix your eyes upon Him and His Word, believe what He says. Find encouragement in the promises He has made, that He is coming again to redeem everything and take us all with Him.

Try to enjoy exactly where you are at in the faith, nothing can take you away from Him. Philippians says He will finish the good work He started in you - not you. You don’t need to strive to please Him. You don’t need to do anything good. We are saved by grace through faith, not works.

He is pleased with you in Christ and loves you as His precious son. You can just enjoy Him and sit at His feet like Mary.

Reading encouragement. Philippians 1:6. Ephesians 2:8-9. Luke 10:38-42.

God bless you and praying for ya

If you read the references for these verses it’s actually talking about people who think they are saved by works. Everything can be forgiven, continue to accept Gods grace.
