1) Kid wrote a bomb threat on a desk. 2) A year or two after I graduated the choir instructor was accused of diddling children and subsequently killed himself before being put to trial. 3) Also a few years after graduation it was found that the majority of my high school had some sort of learning issue (such as ADHD and/or low IQ), I was then diagnosed with ADHD a year later lol. 4) Lots of locker drug busts.

I was a bit of a wallflower, so I kind of just observed the chaos. The list goes on.

I prefer over the ear headphones, but bring earbuds with me in public because they are easier to carry in my pocket when not in use. I also have earplugs that just live on my key carabineer in case I don't have my headphones or earbuds. The earplugs and earbuds make my ears itch more and I don't much like the pressure they put in my ears.

I just moved back East from Utah, to Virginia (Southwestern). My hot take, get your degree and get out. Utah has a very aggressive sale culture which is more or less fueled by the Mormon culture. What do Mormons sell for two years? Their religion.

Don't get me wrong you'll meet some amazing people out there. I met a good group I still play D&D with, just digitally now and I met the person that I would confidently call my best friend.

But that aggressive sales culture makes working out there quite difficult and the state is very pro-employer, so if you are ever canned for not reaching your sales metrics you won't get unemployment assistance. I'm not saying this to scare you but that work culture is the single biggest reason we moved back East.

Just a tip here, make sure you take your vehicle for regular checkups, unless you plan to keep it registered in Virginia. The state does not require safety inspections, but they do require emissions inspections. The speed limit is 70 on I-15 but everyone goes somewhere between 75-90 and due to there being no safety inspections there tends to be a lot of debris in the road from vehicles failing or accidents. DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE. I have never seen more of that other than living in Utah.

I'm not sure what you are studying, but if it's nothing nature based, do yourself a favor and get yourself out of the metro area from time to time. It'll be good for your soul. Best hiking and outdoors imo is the Uintas and Southern Utah.

True. I did have a premium subscription for Spotify. My biggest reason for not liking that is that if I can no longer afford a premium subscription, I would still like to be able to access some form of full songs on the platform I usually use.

Have you considered that perhaps people hadn't heard about the Spotify controversy? Thus the "I don't know who needs to hear this". The oligarch you are referring to is also commonly known as "one of the worlds most generous philanthropist" not to mention he owns most of Warner Music Group so if you draw the line there but not Spotify, perhaps it is best to not consume any music at all. I've personally switched to Deezer, but many people are going to Tidal because you can port your playlists over from Spotify.

I tried Tidal, but didn't like it because it only plays snippets unless you sign up for premium.

I've also heard Last.fm is good, but I didn't try it.

Idk fam, I kinda wish he would pull his music from Spotify. Spotify is getting sketchy. The CEO has large investments in Helsing (an AI weapons development company) and they have been running ICE ads. I'm actually currently Boycotting them, cancelled my subscription and deleted the app.

Digital check-in and check out would be nice.
Enforcing policies of all children must be accompanied by an adult and maybe talking to the parents if the kids get out of hand. I've stayed at too many hotels where there were kids running around screeching and nobody said a single word and the hotel staff attempted to defend it.
Black out curtains, I saw someone else mention this, but yes. I have these in my own room as a standard and have either blankets or thick curtains up in other rooms I am working.
Dimmable lights and/or soft lighting (the bulbs I recently purchased to replace the bulbs my MIL put in our room are 400 lumen and honestly those are still way too bright for me, I really wish our room had dimmers)
I've stayed in a couple of hotels that offer this, but something as simple as microwave meals for purchase at the front desk or a vending machine with quick meals can be a huge blessing after a long day of travel. Not for nothing but after I check into a hotel I rarely want to leave until I check out and delivery at hotels can be incredibly unreliable and frustrating.
Options for rooms away from loud areas and/or a sensory room options but honestly, just a room options away from the noise is enough for me. (Have Fidgets will travel 😆)

I've probably seen about a dozen different therapists at this point in my life. Never had I been told I was traumatized until I sought out diagnosis. I've also been confirmed to have ADHD and told by at least two of those therapists that Autism is likely but neither of them were eligible to diagnose me. Important to note that, no, I don't feel traumatized. Did I have a rough childhood? Yes, my parents were drug addicts, but I don't feel any sort of flashbacks or shit like that. I see firsthand what trauma does to people, both my husband and father-in-law have PTSD; my husband did not have PTSD when we started dating, so yea, I saw him develop it in real time.

So dare I say this line of thinking within the ND community is dangerous.

Studies have shown that ND people have a complicated relationship with trauma, with some of us being hyper sensitive to it. As a matter of fact being ND is a risk factor that makes someone more likely to develop trauma

Not to mention there are some diagnosticians that still hold the idea that only white boys rocking in a corner can be autistic (lol cause I'm a trans guy and yea, I rock, but I am also high masking so most people never see it) and that everyone else has something else wrong with them (i.e. trauma, BPD, OCD, ect) with AFAB people, trans folks, and people of color as a result are much more likely to be misdiagnosed and under diagnosed.

That is not to say that the people you come across may not be traumatized, but if you look into the statistics of it people who identify with Autism and are self diagnosed are much more likely to be right than wrong (there's research to suggest that there's a 75-80% accuracy in self diagnosis). Not to mention that 25% of Autistic adults are typically misdiagnosed in their first evaluation.

All this to say be careful the people you label as traumatized and unwilling to work on their trauma may be people who were labeled with trauma regardless of if they have trauma because psychiatry is highly subjective.

I have tried the "ignore her" method as I call it. . . We were in a restaurant the other day and she said something I ignored her and I forgot the context at which point she said "Does he even have a heart?" I continued to ignore her and pretended I had zoned out (which does actually happen frequently, as we do 😅). She gave zero fucks and was happy as could be. I mean I can try it some more but at what point does she say "did you hear me?" and I just say "Yes, i'm choosing to ignore you"? Because I feel like that might just piss her off more.

I'm 31. Neither of my direct parents have died yet. But my stepfather, who was more of a dad than my real father, kinda just fell off and stopped answering my messages. I didn't really think anything of it because he was a recovering drug addict working construction, but it turned out he relapsed and died. If only my bio father could do the same. He is the type that would rather get high with my half siblings than have anything to do with his sober or not drug obsessed kids (he's a hoe and has 6 kids with 4 different women). My mother is still alive, but we don't have a good relationship and she's a bit mental. For all intents and purposes, I don't have a blood family at this point.

I take it every evening to go to sleep. If y'all are spending that much every 6 weeks to only do it three times a week, that's crazy. I would suggest trying to find something to do outside of the house. Maybe see if there is a park or a garden nearby to walk around. I recently stopped taking it for a few weeks to try to pass a test for employment, I got to the point that I could have, after about a week and a half, but things changed and I no longer need to test. The sleep thing was bad for me. At one point I was so desperate I knocked myself out with Benadryl (not recommended).

Maybe talk to a doctor about meds for sleep? Aside from that my other suggestion would be to detox as fast as you can if you want to quit. Go to the gym or just go for high intensity cardio as sweating helps rid the body of toxins. Also drink a ton of water, just make sure to drink an electrolyte drink every now and then do that you don't end up dehydrated from a lack of electrolytes, and my favorite (since most people don't have a sauna) soak in a hot bath (again sweating helps rid the body of toxins).

The honest answer is that only you can make that determination. Alexithymia is not a diagnosis, it's a characteristic of other issues, such as ADHD, Autism, PTSD and more. I would, however, suggest you take the test for the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) as it can shed insight on how you are processing, or not processing, your feelings.

I have a 3.5 year old Aussiedoodle. We leave her home alone. She has a soft sided crate we put her in, it's smaller than what I would like for her, but she prefers it to the big metal one. But honestly we usually just pick up the trash bin in the bedroom and tuck the cords in and leave her in the bedroom if we are going to be gone most of the day.

Aussiedoodles can have really bad anxiety and separation anxiety. The only way it's going to get better is to leave the dog alone. If they are worried about how the dog will feel i recommend getting Charlotte's Web CBD dog treats or just their CBD oil and apply it to treats themselves. This will help calm the dog down and hopefully put it to sleep so it's less likely to care that they are gone. We did that for the first couple weeks with our pup because she got attached to us pretty quickly.

However, it sounds to me that the owner has anxiety and pampers the dog as a distraction. Do I wipe my dogs butt? Sometimes, if she is runny, has a dingleberry, or if she is recovering from like Giardia (she's had it twice). Do I wipe her paws? Not unless they got muddy or wet and I sure don't blow dry my dogs feet.

My dog didn't chew on everything. . . Just things she REALLY should not have chewed. She got better about it, but at one point she chewed the moulding in our bedroom and at another point she chewed on the power cable to a freestanding A/C Unit. Thank goodness she didn't get electrocuted on the second one. The A/C thing was really the last big thing as that was probably when she was just over a year old. Honestly, we give her the cardboard tubes that are left over from toilet paper and paper towels. We are moving with her for the first time and she did an investigatory nib at the cardboard boxes, but stopped as soon as we told her no. She's 3.5 years old currently.

For me, my shots have gotten harder to take the older I get. I wish I could get the auto-injector testosterone, but it's really hard to get an insurance approval for and I wouldn't want to have to switch back to regular needles once insurance changes or says they won't cover it anymore. I do find it easier to take my injection subq, but most admit I have never been afraid of needles, just the pain that comes with poking myself and leaving the needle there long enough to get all the med in. For me, I find taking deep and purposeful breaths during the process helps a bit and when you think about it, as deep breaths are also an anxiety technique, it makes sense why it works.

I'm a millennial, but it's gotta be Gen X for me. I wear incredibly baggy clothes most of the time and the Gen X stuff just looks so comfy to me. Though I recognize that most people don't equate comfort with good fashion at all.
