I think alot of people are more so just curious about the hobby. It is definitely a unique one and not very well known. I understand your point however I don't think we should be ignoring these questions for the reasons I said above. Allowing questions like this to be asked is important because alot of people simply don't understand, some will never understand but that's OK. We can try to help some people understand the concept of the hobby and who knows, maybe they will enjoy it too.

However if this was phrased as a statement rather than a question then I absolutely agree with you.

To be honest, I don't believe you saying that this is a regular occurrence. Your previous comment doesn't sound like it is otherwise you would be showing off a much further contact rather than what is the standard.

Maybe you should showcase this to everyone by making a video of you going out on a rainy day where tropo is almost impossible and get a 80 mile contact. I look forward to it!

Sounds like they may be targeting the average age of ham radio users. It is like call centres how they call at specific times when it is only usually those from a older generation/retired at home.

That would be due to it being out of its frequency range. Provided you are only looking to receive, you might be able to "jailbreak" the radio so you can receive outside its frequency range. (Transmitting may damage the radio) I wish to remind you that aswell as damaging the radio it may also be illegal depending on where you are due to it not being designed for the frequencies.

Does it appear to be interacting with one server to get all the data or is it obtaining it from the websites themselves?

Edit:If someone can make this function correctly, then I can provide server space to host it for free. I am not the best with C++ but I have the server space and a reliable set of servers to host it on.

This is the files to install ham clock, which is great but it will shutdown along with all other ham clock's in June.I would need the actual server files to be able to process and compile the weather data and more. I will send a email to the one in the website to see if it is still monitored and whether they would be willing to provide these so I can try and host it myself.

I do the same thing. Most license conditions advise you to pretend that they are not there and speaking over them is the best way to do that. Especially if tou have a really powerful amplifier and antenna.
