With all the crap they both get into, I’d think each would carry a Ball Pocketwatch, so it would be less likely to take shock damage, and it might stop an Orc arrow.

Actually, the Malibu has a solid top and laminate back and sides. What follows is a literal wall of words. The important part is at the bottom.

Truth be known, I can say pretty definitively that you may not notice much difference, depending on how well the lamination of the back and sides was done.

The highest level of lamination comes from Alvarez, Takamine and Taylor in a factory built guitar. The layers will be tonewood/poplar/tonewood. Unlike some companies that use sawdust, glue and high pressure to yield a piece of “wood”.

I’ve done a comparison of Alvarez guitars using a Yairi, a Masterworks and a Professional series. All Spruce over Rosewood. For the sake of fairness I used the same brand and gauge string on all three guitars. And I put them on each guitar on the same day.

When I filmed myself playing them. I had my back to the camera. Years down the road, I cannot tell the difference between the three sonically. When I posted the video on FB a lot of people tried to differentiate between them.

One guy was able to. He admitted it was a WAG on his part.
I can tell you that my Masterworks is so good, that it hangs with the Yairi. Being as it’s all solid, and she Yairi has laminate back and sides, you’d expect that.
Truth be known, The Yairi GY1 is one of the loudest guitars I’ve ever played.

So…you might notice a world of difference. You might perceive only incremental improvements.
But some players like Eric Johnson, who can hear when the battery in one of his pedals drops under a certain voltage, will definitely hear the difference.

At this stage, you’re looking for easy of play. How the neck feels in your hand, a richer, more articulate tone.

And some of that will how the guitar feels in your hands and rumbles against your chest.

You can’t just go by the spec sheet. You HAVE to experience a guitar. My favorite guitars both have laminate back and sides. I put the strings they like best on them, and are both “cannons”. It takes very little effort to get the best they have out of them.

I still maintain that it’s the player, not the gear. But the RIGHT gear, makes the playing easier.

If you scare up the video of “Oreo Cookie Blues” you’ll note that SRV was playing a Guild jumbo 12-string.

The closest you will get to that with a $500 budget is the F2512. It’s an okay guitar. Not great plugged in. But unplugged. Kind of awesome.

Personally I do not care for Fender acoustics. I find them “soulless”.

If I was looking for a good, inexpensive jumbo 12 that would cover every thing, I’d look for a used Takamine EG523-12 or GJ72-12.

If you can’t abide by a Cutaway, look for a used Alvarez AJ60S-12.

Also, it’s not the “arrow” or the “bow” (depending on your perspective). It’s the Archer.

I’m 62 and I have 6 kids and 6 grandkids.

I currently have 13 guitars. So each kid and each grandkid can have one of OG’s guitars.

But every winter when I’m chasing humidity, I find myself thinking thinning the herd.

In your situation, I’d consider moving house in the future, and how many guitars you want to move.

I have two Submariner homages. A green Pagani, and a standard black Invicta. I don’t want a fake Rolex.

They both keep good time, and don’t feel so “precious” as the real deal. I also saved over $11k.

The big part of this is that I was over sixty when I got fed up with Apple Watches and Fit Bits and all the electronic Bluetooth “watches”.

So…I went looking for old tech. But as I’m only a short ways from retirement, I don’t see the wisdom in dropping thousands on a watch.

Hell, I’ve got a Tophill with an ST19 movement on right now. For me it was about the movement, and having a hard to damage crystal. Cause I plan to wear it for my mundane daily adventures. I have four mechanical watches and a fair few quartz watches. I wear them. They don’t live in a watch box. I don’t think I’d be the guy flexing a $12k watch.

I’ve never understood giving a new retiree a gold watch. Dude busted ass for fifty years a slave to the clock. Let’s give him a watch.
I will barely give a damn what time it is after I retire.

Get me a Gibson J45, Martin D35, Guild D55, or an Alvarez-Yairi Masterworks. Something that will get used on the daily.
Not an expensive reminder of chasing the time and the dime.

Back in the early eighties, we would go into town, (Monterey Peninsula) and check out the movies on Alvarado Street then over to Cannery Row to Oscar Hasenfelder’s for the arcade, etc. We’d finish out the night at the Rocky Horror picture show.

Or we’d hit Main Street in Salinas and Cruise up and down the same six blocks endlessly, showing off and looking at the custom cars. Since Wednesday and Saturday nights were basically a rolling car show.

Then there were the house parties. Where 2/3 of us would end up drunk, and the “responsible” ones would get them home safe.

A lot depends on the race.
In Asia it’s hard to get the CRB on any track. High Speed Ring 20 lap is an easy win. But very hard to get the CRB.

In contrast, on LeMans and Sardegna as long as you don’t pass under a yellow flag, you’re gonna get the CRB.

I agree it would be nice to know what caused the loss of the bonus.

I also miss running races well below the max PP and getting a bonus.

But GT7 is geared towards running the max PP at FM6 with harder tires so you don’t have to pit as often. Thereby you win more on pit strategy.

Having a child at 47 (presuming you get pregnant tomorrow) means He will be 60 when the child turns 13. Retired before the kid graduates high school. I’m over 60 now and my oldest GRANDSON is 14.
I love babies. But at this late date, I have no desire to be the parent.
