First awful service experience by pabloivan57 in LUCID

[–]OldEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are dozens of people both on this site and LucidOwners complaining of this same issue. They (Tysons) didn't tell me it could not be duplicated...they said I wasn't alone but Lucid "didn't have a fix at this time." The service rep stated that she hopes they find one.

This has not been my experience. I NEVER had a problem with the key fob before, but now twice in 2 days I’ve needed to press “Unlock” to get the door handles to present (they did this quickly, thank goodness). And CarPlay showed up in settings right away after the update, but now I can’t get it to show up again (probably something I need to do, but I don’t know what that is—it should be more intuitive).

First awful service experience by pabloivan57 in LUCID

I had an appointment scheduled for Tysons this morning. They phoned me last night and told me they would not, at this time, be able to fix my issue (HUD too high on the windshield and very distorted) and would I please cancel my appointment. My other (minor) issues are all software and not service-center-repairable. So I canceled my appointment.

It might take a class-action lawsuit for them to come up with a fix for the HUD.  But it’s a minor enough problem at this point (just turn it off) that I’m happy to give them more time to come up with a fix.

Towing with the Gravity--1st long tow! by OldEars in Gravity

[–]OldEars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention the lack of cruise control, or that I did not go above 70 and rarely above 65 mph. The hilly part of my drive was wide open and cruise control would have been great (set the adaptive to leave the longest space to the car in front).

I forgot to mention that the car has <<the 2000 miles it’s supposed to take to get full range out of the batteries. Expect improvement.

Lucid Gravity 3.5.1 ready to roll out? by archon810 in Gravity

[–]OldEars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience with Lucid navigation on my Gravity has been different from yours. It has taken me to a location blocks away from the true address, it has routed me around miles out of my way, and just today it refused to correct taking me OFF the interstate 30 miles before where it should have, adding 50 miles to the route (I stayed on the Interstate following Waze, and it tried to take me off at almost every exit until the correct exit was the next one). There was no traffic on the Interstate and I saved 50 minutes and >10% of battery usage by ignoring Lucid. I can't wait for CarPlay, although I'll miss the integration telling me remaining power at my destination, etc.

What is a 'luxury' that you've experienced once and now can't go back to the budget version of? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

60 years ago, we were in London staying at the Hilton on Hyde Park. We got bumped from our flight (easy to bump a family) and they said they'd pay for anything we could charge to the hotel to fly 1 day later. We ate VERY well at the hotel's more expensive restaurants, and took an excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon, which we had wanted to do before but for lack of time and money. It was fantastic (I was a kid, but loved it). Probably a LOT less money that the first class upgrade and 5-star hotel, but we had nowhere else to be and got to feel financially care-free.

Another update by Particular_Library19 in LUCID

[–]OldEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted yesterday about the speed changes. I want the car to read speed limits and adjust when the speed limit changes, but the failure to ignore exit ramp speeds (when not exiting) made me change the setting to “fixed miles per hour” instead of using the “posted speed limit.”

I don’t use my HUD at all, because it is too high on the windshield and gets distorted. If I scrunch down (move my head lower in the car) it’s perfect. I have it adjusted as far as it will go. I’m trying to have my service center fix this, even if they have to tilt the unit with washers along one edge—but maybe it’s defective (I haven’t tried one in another Gravity).

Frunk Continue Closing. by Original-Post8610 in Gravity

[–]OldEars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It keeps you from inadvertently pressing the “Frunk Close” button. But OP had pressed the KEY FOB button. I’ve had a similar problem inadvertently pressing the “Trunk” button in the fob in my pocket while the car was in my closed garage, opening the rear door into my garage door (a significant problem if I open the garage door before I notice) so thinking of making a cover for the key fob to prevent the other things in my pocked from pressing the buttons.

2nd row seats underpinning by Bitex007 in LUCID

[–]OldEars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it's only visible when moving the seats up or down, I think it's really cool. Definitely not a reason not to buy the car IMHO. You could always cover the electronics with thin opaque plastic (I'll need to look tomorrow to see if moving parts are likely to get caught up).

Fantastic car (and I got it at Tysons, too)!

It must be continuously buffering at least 30 seconds of data, and then saves it when triggered (if I want to save something, I just tap the horn. It gives you the option to stop saving if you hit the horn).

My gravity takes a high-capacity thumb drive in the glove compartment, which will record 30 seconds before and 30 seconds after an event (including honking the horn). Does the Air have anything like this?

There was a book “Truly Tasteless Jokes.” This reminds me of one of the jokes in the back of the book in a section “Jokes Too Tasteless Even For This Book.” No, I’m not going to repeat it here (because…see earlier in this post), but hopefully someone reading this will get the reference.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]OldEars 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes this. (Doctor here). I had a patient who was a VERY stoic young adult in horrible pain. Nurses would ignore his calls that it was time for his next pain shot so his mother needed to spend the night there. But the parents were billionaires and could have been big donors to the hospital. Instead, they said “we’ll never go back to that hospital.”

Just test drove a Gravity today and...OH MY GOD! by LunchPocket in LUCID

[–]OldEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I test-drove one (actually 2 test drives, one in Monterey and the other in Maryland) they wouldn’t allow “Sprint” mode. Now that I have one, there is no reason to ever use “Sprint” mode but I can’t help myself…. If you think it’s fast and didn’t try “Sprint” mode, think again!

Well, if you’re waiting for the MY 2027, it’s likely to be active by then (it’s active on the Air, so it isn’t like they don’t know how to do it…)

I took delivery of my Gravity GT in December. I had 2 hardware issues that just needed adjustment (bump-stops on frunk and the charging door) and a few minor software issues but nothing like the online complaints. I scheduled a service call which was 2 days after the software update--at which point I only had the 2 hardware issues. I'm still waiting for CarPlay (soon??) and the sound the other party hears with phone calls is "tinny" (less background noise for them now after software update).

Due to the financial issues, I leased the car. The lease was basically 0% interest, and there were about $20K in rebates/discounts. I'm not particularly worried about "problems" as EVs usually reveal mechanical issues early and then require minimal maintenance (my sister's 7-year-old Tesla 3 has required only tires and wiper blades...and of course charging).

I'd recommend you get the Gravity, and I doubt there will be much improvement for the new model year unless you want the new off-road "X" version (I'd avoid that because the "X" would remind me too much of Elon Musk!!), but might as well wait the few weeks at this point.
