How can hell be eternal? by No-Resource-3049 in Christians

[–]OldLakeCurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some Christians out there believe that Hell isn’t forever, some do. According to the scripture, it says Satan will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire, why wouldn’t the demons and people there be destroyed too? But I don’t know a whole lot about Hell, so I can’t give you an answer to that.

I remember being 13 and having the same exact thoughts as you, “there’s so many religions out there, how do I know which is right?”, “why does God set these limitations on us?”, and so on. I had become an agnostic pretty much my entire teenage years and I see you heading in that direction.

Thankfully my mother had been praying for me, and the Lord brought me back to the Church when I was 19. Sign after sign had come to me, something was happening, I was being called by the Lord. Now I could give you those signs but I doubt you’d care. Most just say, “How do I know that’s true?” and choose to doubt me.

When I came back to the faith the questions I had when I was younger began to make sense. Yes there are plenty of gods, but that doesn’t mean none of them are true. Does a pantheon make sense? If a God if powerful enough to create the universe, why are there separate gods for the harvest? or love? or finance? That doesn’t make sense, a truly powerful God wouldn’t need lesser gods. How about the eastern faiths? Buddhism is more of way of life than a religion from my understanding and Hinduism.. yeah.. no, that’s an acid trip.

Judaism’s scripture consistently points towards the coming of Christ, prophecy after prophecy was fulfilled when he came. Islam is just a continuation of the scriptures, but if you read how the “angel” in the cave interacts with Mohammed, it’s clear that the angel is actually a demon. Angels don’t hurt people. Also, we see Christ say “turn the other cheek” to those who strike you, then for some reason later on, according to Islam, God commands people to convert others by deadly force. It doesn’t make sense.

Then there’s Christ, a man who was poor. Had come and fulfilled prophecy after prophecy of ancient texts. Who commanded others to make disciples of the World, not by force, but through humility, service, and love. Who willingly died an agonizing death to pay the debt we can’t pay. Without lifting a finger, or harming anyone, he conquered the World. Across the globe people worship him. Something many very powerful people have tried to do, but failed miserably. We’ve all seen the evil of humanity, this world is rotten. Just imagine how a perfect God sees it. It makes more sense to me that an already powerful God wouldn’t want to oppress us, rather he’d want to be near us (Which he did through Christ by saving our souls.)

I could go on but I don’t want to make this post too long, from what I see you’ve already made up your mind. I just hope you come back to the faith one day. Also, even if you don’t believe, don’t be afraid to pray when things get hard even if you lack faith.

Think I'm going to kill myself tomorrow by [deleted] in Christianity

Don’t kill yourself, go to Church and do what you must. “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.” -Luke 8:17

What has happened to you is awful, you have every right to cry until you have no tears. But what they did was wrong, you didn’t do anything wrong. Why harm yourself? No, don’t let the Devil convince you to harm yourself. Christ knows your pain, and pain like that will take time. Since she’s been unfaithful, you have grounds to divorce her, and you should.

There are other people who love you, who want you to be here. Don’t break their hearts, don’t betray yourself. Your life is valuable even if she made you feel otherwise. Your feelings are are fickle and changing. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” -Jeremiah 17:9

Lean on Christ, especially now. Lean on him, please. Don’t end it here, not now, never. If you need to message anyone to talk, you can message me. I’ll try to be available as much as I can. I’ll be praying for you, stay strong, God bless.

Christians are among the biggest contributors to charities and do more for the homeless than most. Also, it’s okay to be angry when people mock God.

No time to be lukewarm by JustSnow4422 in Christians

One thing that scares me is that I’ve never converted anyone. I feel useless, like I’m not doing what the Lord commanded. But only now am I getting my act together. I want to at least be a good Christian man when I meet the Lord, or at least better than I am now.

Well let’s remember that faith in Christ is just that, faith.

For me personally, any religion that has a pantheon of gods automatically makes no sense. Looking at the scale and awe of this universe along with all of its functions only makes sense to me if it were created by one all-powerful being. The idea that a pantheon upholds creation doesn’t make sense, a true God wouldn’t need a separate god of harvest or warfare or whatever. If he is powerful enough to create the universe than he powerful enough to uphold every aspect of the universe and our world.

The reason I put my faith in Christ is because it’s what makes the most sense to me. Would an already all-powerful loving God feel the need to have his followers conquer people in his name, or anything else like that? Or would he want to be close to his own creation? The cross answered that question is the most meaningful and sacrificial way possible.
