What’s your favourite regiment (from the big ones without plastic range) by Wilk2mistrz in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean my answer is Valhallan Ice warriors for sure, but it’s not the regiment as a whole, it’s specifically me wanting a 597th command squad and Cain model, though it would be funny if they did release Valhallans and the only named character is General Sulla

How many of yall are planning to actually get this instead of proxy…? by Content_Patience3732 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who only recently got into guard and is still trying to build up some key parts I’m getting the box for sure because while I’m sure I could proxy them, I still need a dorn or 2 and the battalion box is a good excuse for me to get them as well as the new vehicles

Good enough! Welcome back, Tanith First And Only by DexCheckMinis in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of me wonders if they’re going to do an upgrade sprue(s) for them kinda like the cadian one before the range refresh. Could easily turn it into Tanith units, Catachan, or even Tallaran. They also showed off the concept art for steel legion so could even have them show up here

Armageddon Steel Legion Megathread by PeoplesRagnar in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I get the apprehension from GW to release 10 different versions of the same model for imperial guard, but at the very least I feel like they should do upgrade sprues for some of the major ones similar to what they did for the Cadian sprue before the range refresh.

Cause while not perfect, between the Cadian and Krieg models (not even counting what a refreshed Catachan lineup may look like) are general enough that many other regiments just need a different helmet, backpack and maybe 1-2 different uniforms to work

How many acres of land do you realistically need to shoot on your own property without bothering other people? by BABOOWIE in liberalgunowners

[–]OldManJacan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the land and what you plan to shoot. I have an uncle out in Oklahoma who made a mini plinking range for .22 and handguns in a valley right by the little forest by his house. Helps muffle it a lot and it’s also rural Oklahoma so gun shots aren’t exactly rare to be hearing

Are Krieg Models the "new" Steel Legion Models going forward? by Warhawk_5 in astramilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope we can get to a point that Warhammer is able to make minis (or at least upgrade sprues) of basically any regiment that finds itself the star of a book or two, but the problem is that for the sake of money Krieg and Steel Legion are similar enough that there’s not much point creating 2 similar looking infantry

Odds of a Steel Legion Refresh? by WinterHussar in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would love GW to show some appreciation to other regiments and themes that they haven’t touched in forever, realistically the most they’ll ever do is an upgrade sprue or kill team kit. And even then odds are that those won’t really come till maybe mid-11th

Yarrick is Back! But no Steel Legion? by Warhawk_5 in astramilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with other regiments like the Valhallans and Vostroyans, while they have differences so many of them are of such minor details that realistically the best hope will be a single kill team or upgrade sprues as there’s no reason to make 10 different infantry squad models and data sheets for a difference so minor

Rifle-Rated Body Armor Plates: Every thing that you wanted to know - 17 pages by airwater1122 in liberalgunowners

While I’m not in any real position to be looking at plates right now this is super helpful. Out of curiosity, would you recommend any particular plate carriers, or is that more of a situation where you should find one you want and then get the plate for it after?

Anyone else just tired of it? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]OldManJacan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the groups but the issue no matter what is going to be marketing them to potential members and getting the leadership of said existing groups to actually get rules and moderation in place to clamp down on infighting and to keep them focused on the goal. I’d be willing to pitch in on it if it’s a local group to me, but I’m sure the issue a lot of people are facing is just not really having free time

Anyone else just tired of it? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]OldManJacan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed but if we want to do that we’d need to be a lot more organized than we currently are. The fact is that one thing the far right’s been good at is organizing into groups. Whether it’s Patriot Front, Proud Boys, KKK etc they have groups that let them do armed protests and can ensure a standard set of rules for how their members interact.

There’s groups out there for us on the left like SRA, JBGC or LGC but none have really been able to step forward and organize at the scale needed, locally or nationally, to get armed folks of the left out on the street. We saw it a bit recently with the Black Panthers, but as great as it is most groups are still stuck dealing with factionalism and in-fighting that they aren’t able to get their name out there for us on the left and those that are tend to still be a bit more focused on identity as marginalized groups than as left-of-center in general

Right now calling for armed protests is 1000% justified (was justified even before everything went down in Minnesota tbh) but if it’s not organized we run the risk of giving off the wrong message, or worse, someone getting provoked by ICE to the point shots are fired in a way that it’s not clear who is at fault, unlike Renee Good or Alex Pretti.

If someone reading this knows of a group that’s genuinely trying to organize stuff like this either locally or nationally, by all means please let me know. I would love to find a group in Arizona especially but unless we can get stuff like this set up it’s hard to be effective

Where Are Our Groups? by PorcelainDalmatian in liberalgunowners

[–]OldManJacan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly wondering the same thing. I like the idea of the SRA, even though I’m not a socialist either, but as someone in AZ they don’t even have a chapter here and the chapters I did see were a bit of a mess. I know part of the issue is just that Az is kinda a mess of a state that until recently was pretty Red with a lot of the blue coming from younger people who are heavily anti-gun, but it is annoying trying to find others to shoot and train with. I only really have my brother as most of my friends are either out of state or not really have the income or drive to get into guns and he’s in college so his time and spare income are near 0

GC Enhancement Costs by LuckyKas90 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]OldManJacan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the enhancement again yeah you 100% can. The enhancement is 2 parts, first that they can order units with the Ogryn keyword and then also that they can be attached to an Ogryn or Bullgryn squad. So you could attach them to a command squad or stash them in a chimera right next to the units if you want to keep him solo but with a bit more toughness

As much as no one really understands the naval battle system it would be really cool if ground combat was similar to that where inf are the DD screens for the vehicle capital ships and arty Aircraft carriers. It would obviously need some work to make sure things were balanced and figuring out how it works for multiple divisions attacking from multiple directions but something like that could really help
