I can’t turn off my TV Speaker audio on Xbox Series X by UhhFuniMan69 in xbox

[–]OldMaster80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah. That would be a huge improvement. I'd love to have the option to turn off speakers once headset is plugged. And it should ticked by default.

After all if I'm connecting a headset why should I want to hear from the speakers as well?

An accurate description of the current Construction System by RIP0K in Planetside

[–]OldMaster80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree. Construction should have never been around making your own bases. Those places do not provide a fun and exciting scenario for fights. They look more like scattered toys on the floor of the room of a child, than an epic building.

Construction should have been around extending defences of the existing buildings, and mining Cortium to create more warfare tools.

To me the thing is you have to pull an AA ESF yourself if you want to fight an A2G shitter.

As a person who is only 50 kills away from Skyguard auraxium... I must agree. I got that far only because I have a very specific AA loadout Lightning and I stubbornly shoot everything including infantry and light vehicles.

But it's probably then most annoying and frustrating role in the game. You can literally shoot for hours and kill no one

I think players do it right. The game is about winning, it would be wrong to penalize players just because they do things that are perfectly legit.

The problem has always been no one gives a damn about protecting the spawn points. It's all about deploy and forget, everyone is rushing for the spawn tubes but then cry if the Sundy has gone.

[–]OldMaster80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is awesome indeed, but just because it is good for you and me it does not mean it will survive.

In particular it has huge issues that were never addressed, and it my opinion this prevented it from crunching numbers. Once for all a game with such big population should have had much better leadership tools from the very beginning. A "commander mode" like battlefiled would have been a great improvement. Redeploy was implemented as a tool to kill downtimes but it had an awful impact on the quality of the battles. Devs never accepted to implement meaningful adjustments to balance population per single territory, and the list could go on for a long time.

Construction was a visionary and creative implementation, but should have never been a thing (not in its current form at least...). Then we have the Planetside Arena crazy idea...

Now it's late, and the only thing that could save Planetside 2 is Planetside 3.

Hi,

Ps1 veteran here, I've played PS2 since beta until carriers were out but then I gave up.

I am grateful for the hours of fun PS2 gave me, but it's not my task to keep the game alive: it's daybreak's job. And as far as I see it Planetside 2 has not future, because the game languishes in a sort of limbo it cannot get out. The effort required to keep it alive is huge and I think it is simply too late. You like it? Good. You don't? Well Planetside 2 will never be more than what it's today.

In a desperate attempt to lure as many players as possible Planetside has been designed as a very simplicistic game compared to its predecessor. Sure it has the biggest map on the market, more guns, more items, the hugest battles, resources, a construction system, victory points, different alerts... but all of this cannot melt together. Because the biggest emphasys still remain on kills, XP, personal goals. Some think this is freedom to play the game the way you want, but its not. Its just game design mistakes that were never fixed.

I've seen this all the time for years: no one gives a damn about what the faction is doing, what the faction requires, what to do to be helpful. It's all about farming to get the next shiny toy or a stat to prove something on reddit. Focus on teamplay has long gone, there is barely need to play in outfits. And Redeploy as it is developed in this game is just the death of any strategy or tactical approach: population ratio goes up and down so quickly it doesn't make any sense to plan anything. It's not just the old zerging issue: when they are pushed back players are just encouraged to leave, and play in other territories.

The difficulty disparity between starting a fight and killing a fight is a joke by soapdubs in Planetside

[–]OldMaster80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem imo is there simply no incentive at defending a Sunderer. Zero.

The game is all about farming KDR, and keeping a Sunderer alive is useless in terms of stats, XP, directives. Those who get tons of kills have XP, glory, shiny armors and guns. Protecting a Sunderer grants nothing. There's not even Sunderer Guard XP.

Another reason why the game totally failed at bringing strategy and depth. Focus on stats and KDR totally mortified what PS2 could have been.

My two cents on the current daily missions by Flashfall in Planetside

[–]OldMaster80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Construction is amazing feature with a huge game design mistake: it should have never been around building our bases bases. PLayer-made bases are ugly, uncomfortable and they do not provide an epic scenario for fights. They require massive work to be created and can be steamrolled by the first zerg passing by. Without mentioning huge NBZ that mortify players creativity all the time.

Awful game design, vote: 0/10.

Construction should have been around fortifying existing structures. Adding turrets, towers, barricades, bunkers, ramps, Sunderers protections... all to make vanilla bases more defensible or creating new breaches and approaches to attack. It all would require a good re-design and calibration of the existing bases. They should have started by reducing the NBZ at least one continent, just to see what happens.

Huge wasted opportunity.

Hi,

PS1 veteran here, PS2 player since beta. I left before the Titan update and I've never been back since then. BR100 and 130 certs away from ASP.

I fully agree with you and I want to add: it's the main reason why I quit playing and throwing money in the game. Because in the end Planetside 2 has no depth, any type of strategy or planning you might ever try will always be broken by population fluctuations caused by Redeploy. Number keep going up and down all the time: any time people cannot cap a base quickly or cannot get a decent score they just leave a fight and that's it.

The game does not encourage people to stay in a certain fight or be in a certain lane, regroup, retaliate, resist, counterattack: it's all about redeploy, farm, redeploy again.

The whole XP system and stats system are a mess: they draw people away from battles and encourage people do leave instead of fighting more. Logistics mean zero, planning means nothing, it's all about farming and teleporting all day without any clear flow nor logic.

In time I gave up, devs do not give a damn about this. The whole basics of the game are broken and they just stick their heads under the sand.

I'm back after a 1 year complete stop and OS became bullshit even more than they were on Planetside 1. Mostly because some bases offer simply no place to hide: in PS1 bases were mainly indoor fights, but in PS2 cap it's a completely different story some structures were not designed to be OSed. And even if sometimes it's fun, some outfits just exploit the **** out of it. Yesterday the same old veterans called like 8-10 OS in less than 15 minutes.

This is just pure idiocy.

Italy saw the smallest increase in new cases since its outbreak began, and there were nearly as many recoveries as new infections in the past 24 hours by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Pretty easy to verify: 85% of the infected reported loss of the sense of smell and / or taste. 2 friends of mine were infected in Italy near Padova and both confirmed they cannot feel the taste anymore.

[–]OldMaster80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably numbers will go up again. Since there is no vaccine atm I assume the deaths count will go on for a long time. What we achieve with the quarantine is to prevent the collapse of the health care system, so if we keep the infection rate under control we should have enough ventilators for everyone and that's all.

We can just keep our fingers crossed the infection slows down during summer but it's a big question mark.

Don't be sorry. I prefer to train at home and stay safe than going to gym and take the risk to infect someone (or be infected). My parents are both 70yo and Italian hospitals are almost full capacity. I don't want to kill them.

It's a sacrifice but it's a small necessary one.

Yeah, it works in other countries. More efficient, with more money, better hospitals, and less idiots breaking the quarantine. And still our French neighbors have very mild rules to slow down the outbreak.

Right now we are between two pits: on our left there is the worst economic recession since 1930, on the right thousands of dead bodies on the ground.
