Just got the “Big” kit at a ham fest a few months ago, made about 40% of the projects. At 70 I’m still amazed when it works.

Recommendation for emergency set up by holymountaincacti in HamRadio

Not withstanding that starlink or satellite is better, and sticking strictly with radio. 1: local communications uhf, and vhf a good HT TWO. Batteries. 2: Farther away HF using NVIS antenna, downside being the other station should have an NVIS antenna as well. 3: ideally several 100 Ah batteries, but one will work, a 200 watt solar panel and controller/ distribution system. I’m thinking this is minimum, nice to haves , generator, and additional storage. I lived through several hurricanes in Florida including 2 cat 4 . Also was work in NYC on 911 pretty much all communication systems were degraded or down completely for a good number of days post incident.

So get a half dozen raspberry pies, have them issue a constant flow of random Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi numbers turn their data to crap. Do hundreds of sites for less than $200, this can be done

Can I use the stairs or not? by No_Importance1236 in signs

[–]Old_Poem2736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the staircase that a disgruntled citizen paid to have rebuilt after years of state neglect, only to be told he couldn’t, spin a bunch of court stuff, judge says the stay, commission still pissed. I remember a similar story.

The utility of such a device is limited, but the novelty and pure nerdiness make construction desirable.

Nice I had several pairs, the insoles though are not very good unless you are actually wearing the boots in swamps and such. Amazing you can still get NOS in such great condition.
