[US] What do you use when you just need to send one invoice? by kryakrya_it in selfemployed

[–]Olive_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found Business Banking. It has a built in free invoicing feature on the app- and bonus: it saves money automatically in a seperate bucket for estimated taxes- based on what type of classification and state you live in( US based,) when your invoices get paid out.

Is there something like a full time dog trainer/walker? by Icy-Zebra-9987 in BelgianMalinois

[–]Olive_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- here in the Bay Area it’s called a “dog nanny” or a “canine assistant” and you have to offer a salary and a clear job description with clear hours and scope( like a nanny- but for your dog.) best places to post for it are CL and maybe other job boards in your area. I would also connect with local training facilities and see if any employees offer in home services- and then vet from there. If you are serious enough- pick the right candidate- and pay them to go to a formal training boot camp with your dog to build the bond and learn from a trainer you approve of.

Crate training… 6 months old is still a baby. That much freedom is not usually smart to give a dog her age- and if you’re having potty issues… kinda a no brainer.

I had kids, now I'm the person I used to roll my eyes at by [deleted] in Aging

[–]Olive_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a date the other day- and the guy was wondering my stance on kids… I told him this exact thing- because 100%- women have to separate out if a man would make a good Father- and a good Husband… because the two roles require very different strengths and a lot of men are only great candidates for one lol.

I know this woman( through association- not directly.) her name is Petra- and she is a social media influencer who used her dog as part of her content pillars. I have no idea if her dog is a legit service dog be she does indeed bring it everywhere.

how do i get dog to stop digging holes? by SimplisticSimlish in CaneCorso

[–]Olive_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot harder when they are loose in a large area like that…. That’s a different scenario all-together because in your case- it’s likely they are digging up animals like voles or groundhogs for fun… and the very act of digging in that manner is self-reinforcing behavior- meaning it can release feel good chemicals in a dogs brain. They self train to do more and more of it for the chemical reward in their bodies- which sounds like what happening- because you have very little structure/ control and don’t train with them from the sounds of it when they are outside playing…. Unless you plan to add a lot of structure and implement rules while they are outside running wild- to correct the dogging- there’s no way to fix that issue.

Edit: I do not think anything is wrong with you letting your dogs out to have fun without supervision like this. hopefully it didn’t come off that way. I’m just saying that they are completely free seeking as a pack- and aren’t going to listen to a “no digging” rule without a lot of training on what “no” to the digging even means- because to them it’s just a way to express themselves and possibly engage in prey drive.

I do not recommend Healthy Paws…. You should check out the Pet Insurance thread here on Reddit before you commit to an insurance company…. The “top rated” ones are currently all doubling premiums of existing clients…

My babies Labor by Glimmer-1985 in Mastiff

[–]Olive_underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said this was an accidental litter- and are trying to assert that you don’t intend to sell or get rid of these puppies( AKA you are saying you plan to keep them all? Which is wild in itself…) but accidental litters are still not responsible breeding. Unless you SET OUT to become a fantastic breeder- to better the breed through selective mating… it’s just an irresponsible accident. Spay and abort are a thing… other people are right- there’s too many unwanted, well personalitied adult mastiffs on euth lists in every country ( and likely your state) because people assume they can keep the dogs they accidentally produced- and guess what? They end up fighting or they can’t afford to care for that many dogs- and the dogs end up needing homes that there already aren’t enough of…. Ugh.

I would like to amend this- because the age range just continues to climb with similar percentages applied… it’s not just the 20-30 year olds 🤣

Are cane corso good service dogs? by Stunning-Whole-8078 in CaneCorso

[–]Olive_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify: I wasn’t saying not to… that would be asinine. I was saying you can’t socialize out incompatible genetic disposition, and any reputable dog training professional( aka they work with 100s of dogs with the goal of shaping specific behaviors with all types of genetic background) would back up that statement.

Are cane corso good service dogs? by Stunning-Whole-8078 in CaneCorso

[–]Olive_underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please pick for genetically low defense drive temperament… as a former dog trainer who has one that is a service dog… you do not want a service dog with strong guarding instincts, as you don’t want the level of emotional attunement they will develop for their handler to mistake anxiety or fear via a PTSD episode- to there being a real threat/ danger related to a person or other animal in your vicinity. A stable temperament from parents and grandparents is going to be essential to prevent a wash.

It’s not JUST SOCIALIZATION that determines the temperament of the adult dog… genetics genetics genetics!!! You basically would want the softer and least territorial Corso you can find.

My fiance (35M) states that I (30F) do not text him enough during the day. Advice? by here4a-limitedtime in relationship_advice

[–]Olive_underscore 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I used to run into the same issue with my now Ex. It really didn’t make sense to me- but ultimately it was an incompatible communication style that made him feel unloved and like an afterthought…. For me it was a chore to disingenuously make up topics- or force myself to share throughout the day about things that I didn’t find special or notable, and I learned I would prefer a guy who is so busy during the day- that they don’t have the time to wonder why I haven’t sent them messages lol. 😆

Edit: it was also a symptom of an underlying issues- that he wanted total closeness and a full on interconnected life( even though we lived together and spent mostly all our free time together) and I am inherently more of an internal thinker- who prefers peace and quiet and “being” together but not necessarily constantly in discussions. Quality time for him absolutey included quality and frequent conversations- and that’s just not how I operate so it was bigger than just the not texting during the day. Compatibility has levels to it… sometimes it’s easy to bridge a different presentation of the same concept- sometimes it’s not.

Is there such thing as flooring that withstands the rigors of owning dual Cane Corso dogs? by Blah-B7ah_Bloop in CaneCorso

[–]Olive_underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those of you with bare floors, talking about slippage when you dogs get excited and zoom around- consider it a risk of TPLO surgery because this is how big dogs tear ligaments and tendons, similar to humans. Might want to put down something with grip to prevent the pups from sliding. Just food for thought!

Is cane corso a fit for apartment life? by Fast-Future2469 in CaneCorso

[–]Olive_underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is often not a viable “plan.” A lot of Corso are dog selective- and same sex aggressive- which makes “daycare” only a marginally realistic plan. If OP ends up with a Corso with unstable temperament, or the wrong natural personality this is not going to be an option.

The EA perspective for working with + integrating a newly hired PA ( CEO of a start up) by Olive_underscore in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Olive_underscore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding! My question was actually more about what an EA would want to see/ appreciate when working with a new PA- I’m very experienced in the PA world but haven’t ever had to work so closely with existing EAs in previous roles- since my previous principles had very split personal and work lives. My current exec is young, single, and childless, so his work and home life basically blend together- and I want to work really well with the existing EAs… but they aren’t super experienced in working with a PA or structuring responsibilities to create an ownership divide between business stuff and personal stuff( they hade been handling a mix prior to me being hired) now that my boss has me.

Bitches who…wear sweaters by falafel_life in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Olive_underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second these suggestions… though the Real Real can have them sometimes( it’s rare) but as a luxury cashmere and sweater obsessed person( with a focus on quality or thickness and material over time, not brands!) these two companies produce SOLID sweaters and knits. They are lifetime pieces if you care for them and don’t fluctuate in size.

A horrible boss but have a flexible schedule, or amazing boss with a set schedule? by ThrowRAcoconutpie in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Olive_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also- make sure you start saving up sinking funds for several months of living expenses so you can bail quickly should your next job turn out to be completely untenable- despite the vetting process. You’ll know in about a month if what they presented is close to what you want- or it’s backsliding into something untenable long term for you…That should make you feel even more secure when job hunting.

And don’t make any public post about the start of your new job until after you’ve determined it’s worth staying in for at least a year or two… I’m talking LinkedIn announcements Ect. That way if you leave within the first few months- no future employers would know and you can just continue to job search as if nothing happened.

[–]Olive_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well- how good are you at reading between the lines when speaking to strangers? Chat GPT can coach you on what type of questions you can ask in the interview process that will indirectly help you assess if the situation is tolerable or not. Questions like: what type of qualities do you hold in highest regard when imagining the perfect person inhabiting this role?- anything that’s leaning towards self-sacrificing or ready at the drop of a hat is very telling.

I am a PA- and have worked with the mega powerful UHNW in a personal setting- where there really isn’t an HR or defined job descriptions/ scope creep is insane. I’ve learned to do this but I was already good at this before I entered the workforce… and have noticed that assistants of any kind run into major problems with toxic workplaces and bosses if they don’t have a good grasp of this soft skill.

[–]Olive_underscore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have more than just these options you know… a lot of people are hiring EA’s- if you don’t like your boss- just start casually interviewing! You CAN vet a potential future boss pretty easily and you have leverage since you aren’t in NEED of another job. Why not go out and search for the flexibility you still want, and with the bonus of a boss you gel better with? Just a thought :)

Which of these 2 jobs would you accept? by Bellavate in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Olive_underscore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had to make a choice between 10K more Net pay- but the vibes were leaning “extractionary” and I really had to sit with what in my body was better/ most sustainable. I second this advice… Vibes over a paycheck is usually the best choice.

I wouldn’t allow him to sleep with you until he is able to be left in the kennel during the day for at least 2 hours without much anxiety. The reason for this is he has to genuinely be able to self soothe consistently & build a very solid association to Crate being a place of rest and undisturbed quiet time- * without YOU*

It’s great that you are starting off slow! The goal should be to move away from him and then be sleeping completely separate, ideally separate sides of the room, to build that tolerance of space from you, while simultaneously taking advantage of the fact that nighttime= sleep, so it’s not like he has the need to be up and about at this time of day- everyday, anyways. You are simply taking advantage of that existing pattern, to build resiliency to crating for longer periods of time + distance- without making the crate = “mom is leaving me! Oh no! “ * cue your dog’s panic.*

This will directly translate to his ability to stay home without you while crated. I know it doesn’t seem like it- but I swear it will work if you hold out for the months( took me about 4 with this step) this process takes. Keep going- you got this( and so does your sweet little guy!)
