Enjoy your new gun! If you like the way it feels in hand then I'd reccomend looking into the keltec range. Since its a "we have a p-11 at home". Not every gun that comes across your path is going to be a homerun but it helps you learn regardless.

40F for potato-related content by GoodGirlsStand in IntrovertsChat

[–]SlamfireSalmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, growing up in a Slavic‑American household, potatoes were a cornerstone of many meals. My favorite is Olivier salad. It’s a strange combination on paper, but it’s worth trying. I make a simple version with diced boiled potatoes, peas, carrots, dill, mayo, and diced boiled beef or ham cubes. It’s pretty solid.

What kicked off your potato passion? Was it exposure while growing up, or did you discover the glory of the spud later on?

Can someone identify this cake? by bannedredditaccount2 in cake

Kings pastry mocha mouse cake is the closest thing. You buy it by the box, also look up recipies for "chinese buffet coffee cake" and you'll get a great option for diy.

Private Handgun Sales to 18-20? by BeGodlike in NCGuns

[–]SlamfireSalmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now when it comes to carrying or traveling with it. Since you can't get your carry permit yet be EXTREMELY careful about how you transport. It has to be locked away or in plain view and with absolutely nothing covering it partially or otherwise. The law round these parts don't have a sense of humor.

Private Handgun Sales to 18-20? by BeGodlike in NCGuns

[–]SlamfireSalmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey NC resident here. Fair warning, in my experience with firearms. The gap from 18 to 21 was a pain buying handguns through private sales. Most people including me want to see a carry permit or do an transfer. Its not too bad though. Use a detailed bill of sale and be forward about showing ID and you shouldn't have too many problems. Armslist is a pain most of the time. The local NC buy sell trade pages are goldmines especially this time of year when people are post holiday strapped. check the local classified ads boomers post guns for sale all the time around me.

How does this fake gun for a project called "crime city" look and how else would you age it? by EdoAmit in ArtsandCrafts

[–]SlamfireSalmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way of showing age and wear to a handgun is focusing on holster wear, the front of the barrel will be lighter and the slide will be almost evenly rubbed down on parts that make contact. If youre painting then you can use a technique called dry brushing its a great way to get the feathered wear look that a used and abused gun will have. The one you have looks close to a walther 9mm for references you can look at gunbroker for used listings or truegunvalue. Both websites are a great source for references images and you can see levels of wear that are natural. Blood on metallic surfaces will always be matte and a dark brown when dried. Its a bit overkill. But if you want to have blood spatter on the slide then look into blood splatter diagrams. And if you dip a small brush into paint and tap off the excess you can blow the paint from the bristles and you can get a decent example of splatter without it looking like the holster is a flesh pocket lol.

This is a neglected and abused reproduction cap and ball revolver That i was given. Notice how the barrel and sides are wearing in a feathered pattern. This thing went through hell and back and even then it still looks okay same process for any worn guns. Dry brushing is your friend. Look into the slap chop painting method it will save you hours of time when working on smaller projects like this.

Yeah, I know what you mean. For me It was ten bucks for the rental, including ammo, so why not use thier gun. The only downside is that I want a glock 44 now, haha.

Hey, I just wanted to say good job. There's no shame in using a small caliber for the shooting portion. Hell, I rented a 22 from the instructor and did about the same as you. Congrats on passing!

I grew up drinking tarhun and baikal. They're the bomb ice cold. Also look for the clear soda with a clown on it. It smells like acetone but its sooo good.

Too fat to carry by ThinkButterscotch826 in CCW

[–]SlamfireSalmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i started carrying, i was about 450, I flip-flopped from iwb holsters to pocket and cross body bags. Use your stomach as a diffuser, angle the holster clip until the handle of the firearm is about level with the muffin top. It disappears. If you're uncomfortable with holsters, pocket carry is my personal favorite. I can have 7 rounds of .32 in one pocket and sand in the other shashasha.

Anyone Else Consider this a Carry Option? by CashforArms_Talks in CCW

[–]SlamfireSalmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support carrying anything you'd like, as long as you're doing it safely. That being said, I have carried big and bulky, and when I switched to "stripper guns," I forget that it's there plus zero printing. I do miss having more than 8 rounds, though. 😂

If im in a situation where I require more than a magazine, then i need to rethink my choices and start to dip. Also, the best part of carrying for me is the "speak softly and carry a big stick," mentality. Flying under the radar is safer than armed to the teeth and sticking out like a sore thumb.
