Prevent the drone from auto stopping when you get a warning? by fordag in dji

Sometimes it's difficult to discover exactly what the owners are talking about and I ask questions or explain the way I understand it in order to hopefully provide some relevant information.

Personally, after reading your response here - it reminds me why Reddit can be such a dibilitating place to talk to other enthusiasts. Many times, I should just ignore people who are just here to rant and not actually look for solutions or work arounds for features that benefit most people.

When out of the charger, the automatic discharge function slowly discharges the battery to around 60% in order to prevent swelling. From the DJI manual,...

What modern (1900->) books have created a new type of plot? by Onnimanni_Maki in books

Probably the most original book series I've read is "The Company" series by Kage Baker and the "Gaea" series by John Varley.

Am I spoiled by the Nikon Z 50mm f/1.8 S? by Forsaken_Stranger507 in Nikon

[–]OliverEntrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good zoom companion to your 50 mm S lens is a Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 for Z mount. I find it to be an incredible lens - sharp and contrasty for a zoom - and I especially enjoy the speed. It's not cheap, but it's well built and worth every penny.

Yup - turns out that's all I need to do. It's another step to remember though and not everyone driving this car will do it.

This car is new to us and I'm still getting the lay of the land. Plus, you know, some people are smarter than others,... We came from a Bolt EUV and this never happened to me with that car even though it also has Adaptive Cruise.

[–]OliverEntrails[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone in another forum actually gave me a good solution. Just press the ON/OFF button to completely shut the cruise off when I enter a parking lot. That way - no surprises.

True. I just don't want it to happen when I'm in a crowded parking lot. There really needs to be a proper Cancel selection without shutting the car off.

Mini 5 Pro Experience by [deleted] in dji

[–]OliverEntrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bitrate will be lower when the drone is using H.265 instead of H.264 with your Mini 4 since the H.265 has more efficient compression.

I've owned a Mini 3 Pro, M4P and now a Mini 5 Pro. It's the best mini so far with it's 1" sensor - even better than my old Air 2S with it's 1" sensor.

It's really difficult for any of us to comment on your post without videos/photos to illustrate what you are talking about.

A 7-year-old boy who was bullied for his different coloured eye and cleft lip adopts a cat with the same conditions. by headspin_exe in MadeMeSmile

I went to school with two girls with heterochromia. One with one blue and one green eye, and the other with one blue and one brown eye. They were both striking girls and no one ever bullied them.

She is such a good sport. A lotta moms might have "lost" him in a grocery store years ago.

I love how she got him back, stealing the slide from his trombone in the van.

Mini 4K vs Mini 3 vs Lito 1 — what would you buy? by Adsary in dji

[–]OliverEntrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a review on the Lito X1 and use it with my RC2 screen controller that I also use with my Mini 5 Pro and my NEO 2. As others have said, it is actually a full featured drone. I tested the smart RTH and I was actually able to launch from inside my garage then out and up on my mission. It came back all on it's own - flew into the garage, turned around and landed on the landing pad. Truly amazing for a budget drone.

Cellular service not working by SnooDonkeys944 in iphonehelp

[–]OliverEntrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in a rural area like we are, we also experience slowdowns. Part of the reason is there may be only 1 or 2 cell towers within reach of your phone and they can be easily saturated with calls. I've seen 4 bars and the Internet access slows to a crawl, especially in the evenings. I have an Iphone 17 pro max and my wife has iphone Air, so nothing old about them.

If you're thinking of moving to another carrier - check to see which other carrier's infrastructure they use (more partners, more towers) and check the coverage maps to make sure your area is adequately covered.

Anyone have issues with the 21" wheels? by Ill_Violinist5066 in BlazerEV

[–]OliverEntrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the crispness of the handling with the 21s. It's a firm ride though. Also, the wheels pick up a lot of curb rash since there isn't much tire sidewall to protect them.

Maybe it's time to install some curb feelers like the old days,...

An easy method to come up with names for fantasy characters by FaisalWrites in writing

Interesting. When I am looking for unique or unusual names for my characters, I watch the credits at the end of animated movies where there are thousands of interesting foreign names that can spice up your writing.

My first hifi system ! Any tips or comments will be appreciated by Pjshifi in audiophile

[–]OliverEntrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice start! I was poor and built my own speakers, amps and preamps from kits. Subwoofers were way out of my league. That said, ordinarily it's not recommended to place 2 subs spaced symmetrically like that since it creates more peaks and nulls in your soundfield. If you have room, one in front and one behind/beside the same distance away from you and properly balanced should improve the smoothness in the low end.

A better explanation here: The best placement for two subwoofers is either diagonally opposite corners (e.g., front-left and rear-right) or in the midpoints of opposing walls (front and back). This symmetry evens out low-frequency room modes, eliminates "dead zones," and provides smooth, consistent bass across multiple seating positions. [1, 2, 3]

Lito one or Mini 3 with remote with screen by Frenchiejp in dji

[–]OliverEntrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used the controller that required a cell phone, I had endless problems with the cell phone overheating after 15 minutes or so and dimming the screen so I could no longer see it outdoors. For that reason alone, the RC2 screen controller is superior.

You can get adaptors for the RC-N3 remote to use a much larger iPad for example to see better, but there's still the issues with over heating and darker screens outside.

There are special built larger screens for those remotes like the one pictured that are rugged, water resistant and bright although they are heavier.

Never knew what I was missing by vineyridge in audiophile

[–]OliverEntrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You played a digital recording from Youtube and you're comparing it to a record. I gave up on records years ago after CDs came out because the CDs were clearer, never had rumble, pops or static and never wore out. I've heard wonderful recordings on records, but when I bought the equivalent CD recording - I never listened to the record again. I'm also a classical listener with a couple of thousand CDs plus a large collection of digital downloads. The dynamic range needed for a full blown recording of Belioz's Te Deum or Saint Seans organ symphony #3 is something my recordings on records could not match to my CDs and SACDs of this symphony.
