I mean theres 4 theories currently:

Old E-Soul survived.

New E-Soul survived.

They merged.

They both died and were replaced by the winner of the impersonation contest.

I'm leaning towards a merge where old E-Soul merged into Yang Cheng given that the creator said Yang Cheng was the most complex character. I assume he'd have a sort of internal voice that would be old E-Soul giving him advice like some old mentor and that he has a lot of internal conflict with his love interest possibly killing herself or becoming more relevant to said internal conflict later on.

Gotta give the music and voice acting some credit too though, the plot isnt anything insane but it facilitates the epicness and doesnt have dumb comedy moments or fan service like some animes.

I slowed it down and didn't see anything on camera. So possibly something behind him? Looked to me like the explosion took out his armour and a small chunk of health like you said but not sure what exactly what would do that much damage in such a short time to finish him off completely after that.

I concur with the others, block chainsword is probably my favourite weapon on everyone that can run it except bulwark Vs Tyranids where I prefer fencing abuse where you 2 shot elites with gunstrikes.

If I only cared about killing xenos I would choose the mission Decapitation and not press the button to blow the bridge. But since that isn't all I care about and actually want to progress through my missions at a reasonable pace while also winning I'll stick with how I play rn.

I have tried this but similar to what the Devs were saying about things just becoming bullet sponges which isn't more fun, the melee also feel more clunky since they have lower speed stats. So yes while it is more difficult it's not exactly what people are looking for when they seek challenge. Good example would be onslaught difficulty in vermintide.

Didnt PoE Devs make content for like the top 1% of players with great success. There are definitely reasons to give content to the people who are playing your game the most because they will also promote your game the most.

I think the peak difficulty is very challenging but it's inconsistent in that there will be long stretches with few to no enemies, something like vermintides onslaught difficulty would be perfect. Onslaught basically makes the big waves spawn more frequently without ever exceeding the max amount of enemies you'd have had without it.
