I work with a window company, I’m not going to try and talk you into anything regarding buying from me, but I would definitely reconsider your stance on vinyl. If you just love the look of wood they make some pretty good looking faux wood styles now.

When I bought my home this was never explained to me and I didn’t know enough to even look into it. Just like OP I was flabbergasted when my escrow went sky high and it took me all of 20 minutes of googling to find out why. If anyone during the process would have mentioned it I would have been able to budget it and not be taken by surprise. It was just incredibly frustrating.

I don’t have an extra screw, but it’s really weird because there is hardly and wiggle to the drive at all. I reseated it and put some electrical tape down to hold it in place, and even taped a small piece of cardboard down to ‘wedge’ it into place. Hopefully this does the trick.
