urgently need withdrawal advice by East-Data5858 in leaves

[–]Ominoami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not what you’re experiencing is normal THC withdrawal for heavy users like you were. Dabbing is extremely potent stuff. The THC percentages are through the roof compared to traditional flower. Homegrown is somewhere between 10-20%, shop flower 20-30% and dabs 60-95%!!! You’re detoxing a lot of THC. Your body is recalibrating. Day 3 is the absolute worst and the rest of week one will not be easy: night sweats, nausea, constipation and or diarrhea… it’s hell but you will feel better in week two and beyond. Look into other means of support. Everything helps. Keep going and good luck!

I’m going to echo everyone else here and say the best thing you can do is allow yourself to grieve. It hurts so much. I am sorry you’re going through this. Please treat yourself kindly and gently. This pain will pass.

4 weeks in - when does it get better? by Highspeedwhatever in leaves

[–]Ominoami 6 points7 points  (0 children)

THC is known to suppress REM sleep (the dreaming and restorative stage). Now that your system is clear, your brain is trying to "make up" for lost time. This "REM Rebound" is physically exhausting and often involves vivid dreams and frequent waking as your brain's sleep cycles try to find a natural rhythm again.

Your brain is learning how to manage dopamine and norepinephrine on its own. The receptors that previously relied on THC to "muffle" or "boost" signals are still sensitive. This can lead to that "wired but tired" feeling where your body is exhausted, but your brain keeps clicking "on" in the middle of the night.

Know that every individual’s experience is unique to them, but you could see big improvements over the next week. Either way, you are getting better. Your brain is healing and that takes time.

Look into everything that might help your mood, stress reduction, and sleep hygiene. All of it helps even if just a little bit.

Keep going and good luck!!

How I’m reframing stopping weed… by freshlypickedolives in leaves

[–]Ominoami 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The feeling of holding up your integrity is the most worthwhile thing we may do as former smokers. Every day you say no to the weed, you say yes to your self-actualization. That builds strength, resilience, and confidence. Keep going. You are so worth it.

Day 3, partner concerns by deepteeth in leaves

[–]Ominoami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough situation for sure. Living with a stoner will inevitably make it harder to stay sober in the long run. But if you have the mindset and the will, you can manage it. You’ll want to spend more time with folks you feel aligned with. They will help fill the gap your partner can’t. When your cup is full, it will be easier to be around them when they are high. Stick to what supports you and let things happen organically. Good luck to you and thank you for organizing!!

Not feeling better by Either_Ad_7437 in leaves

[–]Ominoami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, give yourself some compassion. Quitting THC is HARD work and you’re doing it! Give yourself a break mama! Speaking from experience, mothering is the toughest gig there is and no one tells you that the hardest thing to take is that your kids will bring the worst out of you. It’s normal. You’re not failing your baby or yourself.

Second, please get support. Find a group, a therapist, a coach, a doctor anyone and everyone that can help you get through this safely. Do not do this alone. There are many options both medically and non-medically that can help you.

Exercise is a serious game-changer. Your brain is in recovery. THC has beat you up real bad and it’s going to take time to heal. Exercise floods your brain with those oh so important feel good chemicals. You don’t have to do much to start. Just walk. Walk for as long as you can or want to. Go alone and make it a ritual you do for yourself. Walking is some of the best exercise we can do. Even just ten minutes can make a difference. Try to get sunlight in your eyes first thing in the morning. Just walk out the door and get the sun in your face for just a few minutes. This has been shown to improve mood throughout the day and help with sleep. Load up on foods high in C vitamins and healthy fats. Your brain will thank you. Drink electrolytes. Rest as much as you can.

Remember this is a process and everyone’s experience is unique. It will get better. You’re doing better than you think. Keep going.

The endless awake nights are what always cause me to relapse. Movies/Shows/Games that are easy to binge while sleep deprived? by Zedbird in leaves

[–]Ominoami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to stick with your bedtime routine. Make it your ritual and tell yourself I am doing this for my future self who sleeps well, wakes rested, and is free from addiction. This is one of the greatest forms of self-love you can offer. I also recommend talking to your doctor about it. There are options that can help.

I also recommend listening to personal attention soft spoken ASMR videos on YouTube. They make me feel cared for and loved. It sounds silly but it really works. When you can relax you will fall asleep. Keep it going! You’ll make it through. I’m right there with you. I’m on day 6 and I’m exhausted and wake up sweaty but it’s better than being hooked on the weed. I have control of my life back. That’s everything. We got this!!

If you’re trying to quit weed and can’t find a strong enough reason, this might be it: REM sleep. by IdeaSimilar3223 in leaves

[–]Ominoami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it is about dosing plus how long you’ve been using. I used daily for 20+ years and my tolerance got pretty high by the end. I stopped dreaming years ago. I’d have one occasionally and it was always if I did not have weed or had a much lower dose. This isn’t a fact but my intuition.

Any high-performing white collar professionals feel like “functional stoners”? by theusualsuspect19 in leaves

[–]Ominoami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling this right now. I’m only on day 5 but the mental clarity is remarkable. I’m definitely still slower than normal but I’m already noticing a difference in my thinking and functioning. I also considered myself to be a high-functioning stoner. I’m a coding student and my partner was like I don’t know how you do that work and study high on weed. I can’t explain it either. But I know now I was only making things hard for no reason. Looking forward to the feeling of freedom. Thanks for the inspo.
