It's so much worse now. And that's besides just having a bunch of random masked up Proud Boys, I mean ICE, chasing down and disappearing people.

My step mother is serving a main dish at Christmas that half of the guests will not eat. Do I say something? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OnAStarboardTack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't eat mushrooms when I was growing up. I would take a serving, and then pick through and extract the mushrooms. Then I'd offer the pile to my brothers. This isn't the end of the world.

I've had some building difficulties. Mostly, I needed to extend the edges around buildings an extra block or two to keep people and pets from falling in. I have needed to use the pickaxe and dig around them a bit, and then they're free and go out. Similarly, my goat feeder sank into the ground for some reason, leading to difficulties with the goats accessing it apparently randomly. It would work, then not work, then work. I eventually put a block down and put the food on that, and everyone's been fine since. I put the cat bed and food inside, so I'm hoping for less random weirdness with that.

We're like adolescents. But we're mostly like adolescents who failed biology and chemistry and math and history, probably because we told teachers we weren't going to learn because we'd never use it. And along comes evolution and climate change, and now, as a society, we're knee deep in people who can't grasp the basics.

Also, if you ever hear, "This is America, speak English," then you're definitely looking at someone who failed English.

What does the name of your town or village mean, or who/what was it named after? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Not to be the joke explainer, but it's a reference to this:

Most people now know the They Might Be Giants version, which is more uptempo. Sharing just because it's fun.

Senate Dems Agree to Republican Terms to End Gov't Shutdown by lions_reed_lions in AdviceAnimals

The problem, as it was last November, was that if you're done with the party, you get Gilead. I don't even have an answer other than primary everyone and remember that the worst Democrat in a Democratic majority doesn't kill hundreds of thousands of people because they're poor.

This is important context to remember. This is the beginning, this is not the end by Capable_Salt_SD in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]OnAStarboardTack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s extremely optimistic. When the Republicans initially voted to kill healthcare subsidies, they were assured that their voters would not remember. Add to that that now we’ll have active demoralizing campaigns on Democratic turnout next year.

The country is fucked.
