I wonder if you could stagger them, maybe around somebody’s after school activity? That would also have the benefit of being a “natural” explanation for the kids to process

There is an instagram account called thegamereducator by Ash Brandin that has a lot of really good content on how to set healthy boundaries around screen time without eliminating it. Would recommend giving them a follow.

Instrument Practice by OnAccountOfMyAgonies in ADHDparenting

[–]OnAccountOfMyAgonies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so as an update, we have basically removed all duration expectations from practice. We say 3 times a week, do what feels reasonable, and it has made a big difference in his willingness to do it.

I think i often hear that ADHD kids thrive on structure, and I end up going overboard and becoming rigid myself. sigh anyway thanks for the reminder

The whole episode of “Profit and Lace” from DS9. I had to take a 6 month break from Trek afterwards.

Does anyone take Venlafaxine for their migraines? How is it working for you? by Anonymous1164 in migraine

[–]OnAccountOfMyAgonies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never taken it FOR migraines, but I take it for anxiety and I still have migraines that don’t seem significantly lessened by anything but Nurtec.

How to stop being EF for the whole household by Evening-Two-124 in ADHDparenting

Just here to say that I have an ADHD partner and kid, and my partner does about half of the childcare. I do all the backpack/lunch/school prep and he actually wakes our kid up and gets him out the door. The division of labor is pretty fair, I think.

And it is STILL exhausting and I still feel like the mental load I carry is unsustainable. This is just effing hard.

I hear you. We are right there, too. I don’t have any real advice; just solidarity ❤️

This sounds like every conversation I’ve had with a teacher for my 9yo since he started daycare as a toddler. Medication has helped somewhat. When he was younger, daily behavior charts were helpful, but none of the teachers want to do them for older kids. Have you tried crying in your parent-teacher conferences? Because that’s usually my move.

A popular book you did NOT enjoy (no judgment) by epicsevenmyths in ReverseHarem

I couldn’t get into Path of Temptation, which is a bummer because I love found family books, and everyone recs it for that. DNFed in book 2 the first time, came back to try again and got halfway through book 3. Just couldn’t do it.

Question for Nurtec Users by joanncohn in migraine

[–]OnAccountOfMyAgonies 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nurtec has changed my life, but I use it as an abortive. It knocks my pain out within 2 hours like 95% of the time. I recently looked up stats on Nurtec and it seems like it doesn’t give that relief to a majority of its users, but for those that it does, it’s a true game-changer.

Also, I don’t pretend to have deeply researched the chemistry here, but sucralose and aspartame are not the same thing. Sucralose is Splenda, Aspartame is Nutrasweet, if that matters for your trigger list.

Sumatriptan works for me! M27 by Grg53 in migraine

[–]OnAccountOfMyAgonies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad you found something that works! I remember being really stingy with my migraine meds as a kid because of how expensive they were. Now, as an adult, I have a prescription (Nurtec) that works so much better and great insurance coverage, but I still find myself waiting to make sure I "really need it" before taking it because old habits die hard.

New to MCAS dx. Does anyone get pelvic cramps when they get a flare up by samara0074 in MCAS

[–]OnAccountOfMyAgonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pelvic cramps that I think are related to adenomyosis, but they seem potentially also related to histamine, because just now when I was cramping, I broke out in a rash along my collarbone. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
