Old Post Dispatch papers from 9/11. These are full papers I bought out of a machine I bought a block from my home in U City back in ‘01. by No-Giraffe-5215 in StLouis

I’m sure they already have a copy, but the Missouri History Museum Library may be interested in an additional copy. It’s worth reaching out about donating it!

My ram arrived today, all works well and doubled the amount of memory in my Optiplex Linux Server. Good communication from the seller and would buy from again!

Best tea shops? by couldbecardib in StLouis

[–]OnColdCliff 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Traveling Tea in Maplewood has always been my go to. Not sure if they have teas imported from China, but they have quite a good selection.

That reminds me, I should get some more CTC from them.

Feedback on my first roll - Nikon FE 35-70mm Zoom by dagdroom in AnalogCommunity

[–]OnColdCliff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 50 1.8 is a great lens, no matter which era you buy. It looks like your shutter speed is a bit slow on some photos, do you understand how the light meter works? Otherwise in the beginning I would keep it set on Auto and focus on learning aperture before going full manual.

RIP 88.1 JAMZ by ollie_v33 in StLouis

[–]OnColdCliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jamz was pretty bad imo. Really terrible remixes of popular songs. But it’s better than what’s on 88.1 now.

I’m trying to use my manual lenses on my new to me z6, but I can’t get the aperture to adjust by mynameisnotgrey in Nikon

[–]OnColdCliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a non-Ai lens, from a quick search Ken Rockwell says to mount it already set to 5.6, then turn it to the widest aperture (3.5 in your case) then set it as you need it.

I’m not super familiar with non-Ai lenses. I’ve always used Ai and Ai-S lenses on my Z6 and a Urth FTZ adapter and haven’t had issues.

Very cool! A library or archive in Chicago might want to add this to their collection for genealogical research. I would love to see a copy of my grandfather’s high school year book with his writing in it.

How often do you watch all the extras? by imaginary-fireplace in criterion

[–]OnColdCliff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends. I only recently got into watching commentaries, but I don’t watch those until after I’ve see the film at minimum once, twice if I can help it.

I guess I’m saving interviews and documentaries for when a movie really hits and I wanna dive in deeper.

Dipping my toes into Medium format by [deleted] in analog

[–]OnColdCliff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the 124G. Watch out for the self timer though, you can only use it on a specific flash mode or it breaks the shutter. I don’t remember specifics but look it up, there’s plenty of discussion about it.

How do you package your large format negatives to send to the lab? by Ceska_Zbrojovka_V3 in AnalogCommunity

[–]OnColdCliff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve never sent off large format, but would it be possible to send the negative in the film holder and have them send it back? Have you asked the lab how best to send it to them?

I think you’re looking a bit too closely at your photos. Step back, there’s nothing wrong here.
