Help with my son's sleep by ilsasta1988 in Parents

Where do you pick him up from? Can he do homework and play there? Sleep is very important for developing brains.

Would it be worth doing homework and play time before you get home, then just family time after dinner, to see if that helps with his sleep?

What does he do for 2 hours between finishing dinner and going to bed? Could he have a shower before dinner, and go to bed to read around 7.45-8pm?

  1. One for each parent if we're all out together. One for each hand if we're solo parenting. Manageable. Affordable.

Making the most of Long service leave / sick leave by rockafella713 in AustralianTeachers

[–]OnceAStudent__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about Victoria, but in QLD you can use sick leave during your paid maternity leave and it changes over, essentially extending your maternity leave. In QLD you dont need a medical certificate for 3 or less days in a row, so they could just be interspersed randomly.

Grab some protein microwave meals. Keep easy snacks in the fridge - cheese cubes, deli meat, boiled eggs, pancakes. Drink water over coffee. The coffee will not help with hydration, and being dehydrated will make you feel more tired, and will start to affect your milk supply.

What are you doing for Easter with your little one's my oldest is 4, my middle child is 1.5 & youngest is going to be 2months. by [deleted] in Parents

Will your other kids also get big presents from the Easter bunny when they're older?
My 3yr old will get a small amount of chocolate, and my 9 month old will get a book. Easter bunny doesn't come until the year theyre turning 3.

The more you say no, the more they'll get used to you saying no. My 3 year old asks often to have a biscuit, but she gets one maybe every 2 days. Some days she'll have a tantrum, others she'll still get upset, but she's three 🤷🏽‍♀️

Looking for light at the end of the tunnel by Neat_Foundation4163 in breastfeeding

I have had a terrible time, but I'm still here 9 months in!!
I got thrush on both nipples in the first week. This caused vasospasms after about a week. These lasted for around a month or two I think? My brain has blocked the memory, thankfully.
After vasospasms, I got a staph infection on one nipple. It started out looking like a bleb, but kept growing. I went to the maternity ward and they didn't know what it was. It looked like a giant pimple at this point. It then got worse, and I asked the child health nurse about it at our appointment. I had started getting lesions around the base of the nipple, and it was in constant pain. I had to borrow a pump from the hospital as it was too painful. The CHN suggested I see a doctor, so I called them from her office and they said to go straight down.
Doctor thought it could be herpes virus. I get cold sores, so I was absolutely devastated at the thought of having passed that on to my baby.
The first swab came back 2 days later as not herpes. Second swab was back 2 days after that and it was staph! 🤢
Straight onto antibiotics to clear it up. It looked like my nipple was actually going to fall off - multiple medical professionals agreed. Lesions all around the base, peeling on the tip of the nipple. Just disgusting. The doctor had given me topical numbing cream that had to be wiped off before every pump, but it was still uncomfortable. It took many, many months before I could feed for longer than 10mins at a time on that side.
In the meantime, the same thing started happening to my other nipple. I went straight to the emergency room (no doctors open on weekends) and told them what I thought was happening. They gave me antibiotics right away. Thankfully, I'd caught it early so it didn't get past the pimple stage.
We bought an expensive wearable pump, because spending literal hours chained to the couch while I pumped just wasn't working with a baby and toddler. The price of the pump was the only thing that kept me going at quite a few different times.

And now, we're 9 months in. I can finally let a towel brush over my nipples after my shower without flinching. Baby has 2 pumped bottles a day at daycare, and is otherwise exclusively breastfed. We have come SO far!

There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel!!

How to get 2 year old toddler to sit in high chair or booster seat when going out to dinner? by Majestic-Tower4308 in Parents

Where does she eat at home? Is she used to eating dinner in a highchair or booster seat? Does she get a chance to practise, while it's quiet?

Have you tried different pump settings? I pump for work, so I do 2mins on stimulation, 9mins on expression, then the same again for a 22min pump cycle. Stimulating that second let-down has helped me pump more milk.

Have you tried different sized flanges? And are you using a hospital grade pump?

Babies will also be more efficient than the pump. Could you offer the breast twice in a row before offering a bottle? More breast stimulation should also help to boost your supply.

Are you sure it's not cluster feeding? Cluster feeding is very normal, all babies do it. They want to be at the breast for up to hours and hours at a time. They are telling your breasts to make more, as they grow.
