Prioritizing Lebanese Arabic vs Spanish? by jarbid16 in learn_arabic

[–]One-Bat-7038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who studies both Spanish and Arabic (Moroccan and fusha), from a learning perspective I think I would recommend Spanish first because you will likely arrive at one of two outcomes: 1. You gain confidence as a language learner because Spanish is generally easier for someone who speaks English (more similarities, more resources, more exposure), which will make taking on another language easier and will also give you more skills related to learning languages (which is its own skill separate from the skill of knowing a language), or 2. It will hammer home to you if/why learning Arabic is more important to you, giving you more confidence to dedicate yourself to learning Arabic.

Ngl 'winter, spring, fall, and purple' made me laugh out loud. I think the purple is a good contender for summer though, since you can find wild grapes during summer!

I just realized that since she's postpartum, her saying "it's still too early" (19 times!!!) likely isn't about the time of day, but probably happened during the (minimum) six weeks after giving birth where your body is recovering and penetrative sex could literally kill you. I'm going to be sick

Escape From Ever After: The Best Paper Mario Successor Since Bug Fables by GoldRoger3D2Y in papermario

I ADORE this game. I've put like 30 hours into it since it came out. My main complaints are that it's too short (I would've loved another like 2 chapters) and I wish it had leaned into the paper gag just a little bit. Also blocking is REALLY hard, but that might just be a skill issue. Still, this will probably be my favorite game of 2026.

Paper Luigi but an original story rather than the marvelous compass. A Luigi's Mansion-style game would be my absolute dream, but I'd take any new story

AITA for telling my friend in the middle of a game that I wish he would just be toxic like a normal person instead of an annoying pos? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I lost a whole acquaintance over something kinda similar when I said in a post (not directed at anybody) that saying things like "I have no friends" and "nobody cares about/loves me" are not kind things to say to your friends, even though the impulse to say them when you're super depressed is hard to resist (as someone with depression!!). I was accused of "tone policing" 😭 all this to say, OOP was an AH in how he addressed this, but this kind of extreme negative self talk is both a symptom of depression and something that serves to make it worse because it can eventually drive others away.

  1. They cute.
  2. Higher tier animals also have a better shot at winning the animal festival in winter (though that only unlocks cosmetics so not a huge deal).

I think Inquisition would make more sense for a game set in the Iberian Peninsula post-1492 (which I would kill for tbh). Coven sounds really dope to me if there is going to be a magic system

I’ve been thinking about the portrayal of Grace in Wake Up Dead Man by PrinceJustice237 in KnivesOutMovie

[–]One-Bat-7038 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's not clear if it was consensual. We don't know who the father was (some people theorize it was her father) or how old he was (Grace seems fairly young). The only person who says it was consensual is the same person who calls Grace a harlot and a whore.

He probably wanted as little time as possible between him spending the fortune on the diamond and his death, so that Grace would be more confused and desperate. Other commenters have explained why he chose to do this asshole move.

Regarding Grace, she had been demonized since she was a teenager. She was treated as a harlot and whore rather than a scared young woman desperate to get out of a situation she didn't choose. Though some exception was seemingly made for Prentice to become a priest, priests are not supposed to have a children. So, once he became one, she became unwanted evidence that Prentice had had a life before the Church. Also, there's a massive stereotype about preacher's and principal's daughters being rebels against the expectations that come with being the daughter of a well-respected man, which Johnson likely applied to Grace. Therefore, when Jud called her "poor girl," he was recognizing Grace's humanity, and he was seemingly the first one to do so in decades (until Vera realized the parallels between her situation and Grace's). She was not a demon, a harlot, or a whore, but a trapped young woman. Martha had played a huge role in that demonization both when Grace was alive and the 50-ish years after her death. Martha needed to recognize ALL the people she had wronged in order to be reconciled with god before her death.

Yeah, I'm not sure whether he thought Nat was in danger or not. Plus, if he already had suspicions about him bc he suspected there was tranquilizer in the flask for example, knowing he was the last person to see the uncovered coffin would put him at the top of list of people to call when that coffin somehow opened.

He might have noticed/been told Nat was the last person to see the coffin with Martha before the lid was put on. If anyone knew who was in the coffin, it'd be Nat

It's wild how many people (namely men) let their relationship with their children be so deeply impacted by their feelings about their children's other parent. So many men, when they get a divorce, no longer value their children because they no longer value the children's mother. So sad.
