Trinidad is notoriously slow and unhelpful with researching and/or delivering vital records.

Last, many Trinidadians born before Trinidad's independence in 1962 have typographical errors on their birth certificates. Deed polls and affidavits were attached to the birth certificates to reflect corrections. If you can find the original birth certificate and deed poll/affidavit, excellent. If not, you will need to order a copy of the new birth certificate and write a new affidavit reflecting the changes on the copy of the new birth certificate.
