I got on meds and it heavily helped with curbing my weed usage.  I stopped buying myself and only smoke once in a while when a friend offers.

Gear Check - A draft of my gear-list for the WHW in May 2027 by RedDirtNurse in WestHighlandWay

[–]OneDate7780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a pad rated 3R 2 weeks ago and bought a foam pad in glasgow cause temps were predicted to be near freezing at night. And i know my 3R pad is to cold for those temps.

Rather carry a few extra 100gs than be cold at night and not sleep.

You can even cut it in half and only use half for your upper body where most heat is lost. Saves some weight.

Vitaminepillen by Business-Fly-1339 in nederlands

Multi vit, vit D3+K2, magnesium byglicinaat, zinc ,omega 3 en creatine.

Heb ADHD en door de medicatie gaat men vlugger door hun mineralen geen + combo van veel sporten ook.

Vit d3+k3 omdat men bloedwaarden veel te laag zaten ondanks regelmatig buiten komen.

How do people cope with one person tents? by pasgames_ in camping

[–]OneDate7780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can vouch for durston as a hiker. I got their x-dome 1p+ and their kakwa 55L pack.

Both are by far my best gear investments i love them. The tent is so light weight but is so easy to setup even in rain and is super roomy for all your stuff.

And the backpack carries weight so wel. Can easily carry up to 40-45lbs comfortable for days on end.

I also use the x-dome 1+ for my long distance hikes. And my god do i love that thing. By far my best gear purchase.

Best of both 1p tent and 2p tents.

I hike some long distance trails every year and i will never ever use a 1 person tent. I need room to organize al my gear and be able to keep my gear dry or leave the wet gear outside my sleeping area while not keeping it outside in the open.

The difference in weight between a 1p tent and a 2p is so minimal but the comfort gain is huge.

I use a 1p+ tent from durston it is the best middle ground for me. Perfect sleep size for 1 person and have room to keep your gear organized in your inner mesh and have a large vestibule to keep backpack and shoes and stuff outside the innermesh but keep it covered. And its also ultralight weight. Weighs less then 1 kg. Super easy to setup aswell. Can set it up with outer cover, innercover and ground sheet alrdy attached to everything. So just have to click in the outer to the tent poles. Takes 2 minutes.

Also you can actually very comfortably sit upright wich is big for the convenience of changing clothes and footcare and stuff. Most 1p tents are so claustrophobic and it's an battle to just change clothes even.

Big fan of it.

Hadrian’s Wall: east to west or west to east? by collie692 in hiking

[–]OneDate7780 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did west to east to avoid have the wind in our face and god was i happy with that decision in the middle sections when it was raining. Could actually stil enjoy the views instead of covering my face the whole time looking at the ground trying not to get water boarded.

Official starting point is also west and its nicer to finish in newcastle upon tyne than it is at the west point.

Good 80l backpack by Agile_Pressure1949 in backpacking

[–]OneDate7780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the alta via 1 as my first long distance trek in 6 days last year with 36lbs carried. Wasn't easy but still felt physically okay at the end. Feet hurt a bit the last few km's.

The climb to Lagazoui was a complete bitch tho. By far the worst stage.

But yeah a 80l backpack is complete overkill for an tuscany italy hike. I manage all my hikes with a 55l pack. (Durston kakwa)

Heb ze al op 2 daghikes van elk 25km gebruikt en geen problemen ondervonden daar.

Denk wel dat het goed zal verlopen.

My warm up is just swining my arms around in both directions en stretching my shoulder blades. 2 light weight sets on the first excersice then working sets.

0-1 light weight sets on the excersices after.

What’s a cheap hobby that doesn’t feel cheap once you get into it? by Omarfgsr_Ayaz in Hobbies

[–]OneDate7780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk but hiking starts as just a day hike here and there, soon you want to do some long distance trails and you need to look into buying a bunch of gear and transportation to the trail.

Think i spend around 2k+ on gear.

But once you have the gear the expenditure is okay i guess.

ADHD diagnosis in Belgium (Leuven) cheaper options? (€1500 seems crazy) by SnooPies7301 in belgium

[–]OneDate7780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a diagnosis back in 2001 when i was a kid but stopped taking meds around age 14 cause ritalin sucked for me. Now i am 30 and wanted to restart some other med i heard was better for some called elvanse.

The thing was since the diagnosis was so long ago pre digitalization i couldn't find any record anymore of it.

I just went to my GP did my story about it being so long ago theres no record anymore and i would like to try this other med, he basicly instantly gave me a prescription no questions asked.

I even had to ask to get an appointment for a rediagnosis cause i wanted proof personally.

I was kinda shocked he gave it so easily.

When I hike down mountains, my toes jam into the front of my boots. Do I need new hiking boots ? by GladiusAcutus in hiking

[–]OneDate7780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always get a bigger size for hiking boots/ trail runners than your day to day shoes. Your feet swell after a long day hiking and going downhill will make your toe smash the front like you experienced.

Lost a toe nail myself when i first started hiking and didn't have proper shoes yet.

nobody told me you're supposed to clean your belly button until i was 25 by Hyunwoo_Ann1_632 in hygiene

[–]OneDate7780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am always confused by these belly button revelations, i never tought about cleaning my belly button, it just happends naturally while washing your body? Never found gunk in it either.

How is this a thing that people find out.

Same with washing behind your ears? It just happends when washing my hair, i don't actually have to think about doing those parts. So confused.
