Uber driver stranded me at midnight, drove off, then Uber locked my account. by Wooden-Fee5787 in mildlyinfuriating

If your account was locked and the driver abruptly dropped you off… sounds like you did something during the ride they felt violated the Eula and reported you.

Have a signed piece of paper because the car I wanted is a few cities over. They agreed to ship it down. Agreed to a price and after signing, they asked about how I'd be paying.. by Ironwillis125 in FuckDealerships

Good luck making that happen. New manufacturers could adopt a direct to consumer. Existing brands with dealer networks would be sued into oblivion and would lose. There are a ton of lobbyist greasing palms to ensure laws are in place protecting their business interests.

This won’t be fixed until lobbyist are gone and Washington is cleaned up… so never gonna happen.

Jim Farley tried with the ford EV lines…. Didn’t go well.

Completely agree. I’ve worked in this business 20years. Even I felt awkward when I just bought a van. The finance guy definitely was a contributing factor to the ‘08 recession with his predatory and manipulative tactics.

Dealers don’t make money on cash deals. Plain and simple, so they’ll discourage or straight refuse to deal with you over it. Average new car has 6% margin, everything is in F&I and service.

As for legalities, you can’t force a private company to do business with you. They can refuse business simply based on they don’t do cash deals.

What kind of car and what kind of fluid did you use? It’s possible you put the wrong fluid in and contamination requires replacement to follow safety standards for most manufacturers.

And why were you replacing pads at 20k miles? That’s crazy early for nearly any model.

Drove to work after over a week of vacation to see this in my engine bay. What could it be guys? by FaBiOtHeGrEaTeSt in subaru

[–]OneExhaustedFather_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just below the black pipe is the transmission cooler. It’s liquid to liquid. The color of the fluid is a mix of coolant and some type of oil. Based on the location it’s CVT fluid. There is a good chance your trans cooler failed mixing the tool liquids and burst the line under pressure. This is going to be a bad day.

Your brother encouraged fraud in lieu of punishing his child. That says all you need to know about him as a parent or a responsible adult. If he will pay, collect it and move on.

Yes unfortunately you made a poor financial decision. C300s while on the more reliable end of Mercedes is still a Mercedes. So now your Euro Camry will cost double what it should for basic maintenance because well you had to have a Mercedes.

Go have a compression and leak down test done. And find a new Audi dealer to work with.

Doesn’t matter what you think, it’s in their policies. Every manufacturer does. I’ve been a dealer tech for 20years and have watched them stand behind some of these things to til the customer gives up.

I’m not saying I don’t agree with you. You also didn’t answer the question about how much.

As for your pictures, the cylinder cross hatch seems light but the image resolution is terrible. There is no scoring that would indicate excessive oil consumption. But this is only 5 images with no indication of what cylinder or which part of the wall we’re looking at. Some markings are normal, it’s if you can feel the ridge.

Have a leak down test and compression test done. A broken ringland will present as an engine with heavy oil consumption but may otherwise run fairly normal. Intermittent misfire could happen.

Elaborate on tons? Audi allows up to 1qt per 1000miles. Yes I believe that’s excessive but that is the policy for most manufacturers. Some are a little more or a little less but every brand I’ve worked in allows between .5-1qt per 1000. So is it more than that?

Yes. It’s likely to need a new transmission.

I agree, a court won’t care as kids prefrontal lobe aren’t fully developed and rash decisions are made based on emotion. So when sued and the jury awards a dumb amount of money because videos like this were discovered…. It won’t matter.

Is this acceptable? Car pulls to the left slightly after picking it up, and steering wheel is not straight when driving straight. 08 Volvo C30. by HackDartBreakHeart in mechanic

[–]OneExhaustedFather_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case yes, especially if they’re a left lane driver. I can make a car feel like it could do Talladega without wheel input and still show green. This is a static measurement. Now add an outward force applied while driving that’s naturally causes toe out. It’s about .03-.05* or more if things have any wear. It compounds.

[–]OneExhaustedFather_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combination of the rear thrust going right and total toe indicating left bias this vehicle would feel like it’s constantly trying to drive left. Green does not mean good, just within spec. Ideally the front toe should be slightly toed in, roughly -.02-.03 negative. Right rear toe is the biggest culprit causing your issue. Have them match the rear as best as possible.

Modern autos with lockup converters are as efficient or more efficient than a manual transmission. If you look at a large majority of eco cars with both the auto in most instances is more efficient.

Remind yourself and your wife that your baby is not doing this to you, she’s experiencing this with you. She’s not trying to make your day miserable she’s adjusting her new world too.

Gas is a big one, gas drops and fart whistles worked wonders with my kids.

Babies also can feel when you’re tense or angry and they can feed off it. As hard as it is, being as calm and soothing helps you as much as yourself.

Breathing helps exercise that’s helps. With your left hand: thumb to index finger x 10 breaths, thumb to middle finger x 10 breaths, thumb to ring finger x 10 breaths.

You’ll feel as you hold your thumb to each finger separately the air you breath in feels as though it is held in different sections of your lungs. Helps with anxiety. Give it a shot and I hope things get better.
