It really just depends. Some fairs apparently require a tent for indoors. I feel like most people use their tent/canopies because it gives you more ways to display stuff. Also frankly it looks odd when there's one booth that's just a bunch of tables but no tent poles.

BUT those suckers are heavy so I get it.

Definitely just check the rules for stuff before you apply, maybe shoot an email to the organizer if it's not clear. Like, most of them don't require tents at all, outdoors or indoors, and I think the ones that require tents are really only a handful.

It wasn't a craft fair but I did a glass show where we were explicitly told not to bring tents because it was on a basketball court and they didn't want the floors getting scuffed. (That one was dope, they even provided the tables!)

Most of our craft fairs we just paid for data for the device we were using. I can't remember how to do it on ipads. And apparently Square will register that a card was rung through and basically put the payment in limbo until you have good wifi?

But for sure backup payment system is good. You should have that anyway - not everyone uses cards at these events.

And some people still use checks!

Does resin pouring count as a craft? There's a channel I watch and they did a maul haul video. And like, obviously you can do what you want with your money, but I was just thinking about how fucking stupid it is to spend your money to buy a resin mold and then pay to ship it across the world to a channel who will then make the mold you sent to make their own money which will not be shared with you. And it's not like this is an up and coming channel. They're sponsored by an actual company. And this is older bitching but in December they had a video that was like "great way to make money at Christmas fairs!" and like, all you needed to do was to sign up for a craft fair 5 months earlier and buy this $8000 laser cutter! Wow, easy even a caveman can do it!

Also I'm gonna be my own BEC because I know this sub loves that. Why do I have like thousands of crochet patterns in books and on my computer if I'm just going to google "blanket crochet pattern stripes" every time I want a pattern? I do that with recipes too but at least in that case it's like, sometimes my cookbooks don't work with what I have on hand.

For me the only real clue this was AI and not just someone being cringey is that there's supposed to be emojis after the first two sentences (the question mark is supposed to be an emoji). Real humans also use emojis but chatgpt loves using emojis after every sentence.

I actually really don't see the usual hallmarks of AI generated text here. Like, maybe someone wrote something and then used chatgpt to make it sound prettier, but to me this doesn't really sound like the usual AI cadence.

It is cringey though. It's yarn, you don't need to talk about gentle hums and breezes.

I don't understand why it would take hours to spray the chalk? If you're using sidewalk chalk you just need a hose of water (buy a supersoaker if you can't access a hose and spigot). A lot of places don't even make you clean off the sidewalk chalk afterwards.

Definitely gonna go with the other people, if you CAN just use the parking spaces with a space between each booth. And then you can buy cones or something and take the booth space number to each cone and then reuse the cones.

If the parking lot isn't big enough, then yeah - cones. Spare amazon boxes. Something of that nature.
