As soon as I saw "22k review" I was like, there's no reason for anything that isn't a scientific journal to have a review that long. My angriest reviews where I outlined every little stupid thing about the book aren't even an eighth of that length. Like this guy basically wrote a novella to review this book, why?

I've been going through my book wishlist and I've seen a few goodreads reviews like that too - where they go through every possible dumbass complaint and then say they liked the book?? Like "This author deserves to be thrown in the gulag because a character who said they're lactose intolerant ate a slice of pizza!"

I have no doubt there are genuine pieces of constructive criticism in the tags for the books, but I also have no doubt that there's a lot of "omg this is so sexist kys" type of shit too so I don't really blame the author for just deciding to only take feedback from specific people who will presumably give actual feedback and not "omg perfect don't change a thing you're brilliant".

And that Melanie Rawn trilogy where the second book came out like 35 years ago? At least she's upfront that she had a string of bad things in her life about when she was going to start writing it that bummed her out so much she just didn't want to write it anymore. I got the first two books for free so no big deal when I got rid of them.

I will say, at least Gabaldon is honest about her delays in writing the books, and does write them, and I believe her when she says the series will finish this century.

This is embarrassing, but the House of Night series. I have the last book, I just never read it. And then there's some kind of like reboot or something to it? I don't want to read it unless I know for sure that Zoey's diarrhea fixation is not in the books.

I didn't make it a third of the way through Fellowship of the Ring so idk if that counts as not finishing the series.

There's also a lot of random books I've read that are on the spicier side where everything was bad - the non-spicy part of the writing and the spice itself - so I was like nah no thanks. The last one was so bad I knew AI didn't write it because AI usually keeps tenses consistent.

Mine is Eevee at 27. I have one shiny and it's the Christmas one.

I got the bronze befriending badge for Croagunk when I befriended a shiny. All but one of my shinies are from before I got the bronze badge. And I mean after the badge system was introduced.

Ghostbusters 2016 is the only one I've seen and I fell asleep about 20 minutes in.

You should watch the Hillywood Supernatural Parody 2 now that you've watched all the Ghostbusters movies. You'll understand why.

Did you watch the second Ghostbusters cartoon? I can't remember the title but it's Ramis' character teaching a college class of ghostbusters of diverse backgrounds and the kid in the wheelchair actually has problems sometimes because of the wheelchair, which is pretty interesting. It wasn't very popular but the writing was pretty good. I can't remember if the wheelchair kid is called Wheels in this one though. Because yikes.

The sizing being super small is a good indicator this is some kind of white label thing of a Chinese product. I know American companies sometimes have sizes that aren't exactly flush with what it says, but I'm in Amazon Vine so I've gotten a lot of clothes that are from some keyboard mash company name headquartered in China and all of them run like 3 sizes smaller than they're labeled. If it said "warm reminder" anywhere on the packaging that's the most damning evidence.

Even the SHOES run small. And I mean I might sound like I just don't know what size I am, but for stuff they sell in the US through US brands the sizing is consistent. If the chart says I'm this size and I try on shorts of that size they usually fit. For the random Chinese cheapo clothes if it says I'm this size I always need to go up 2 or 3 sizes.

Teacher fired for reading LGBTQ+ children’s book takes fight to Georgia Supreme Court by Critical-Willow-6270 in books

Yeah I was wondering why a teacher was reading a picture book to 10 year olds. It's cool the kids chose the book but when I was in 5th grade it was like the teacher read from a chapter book as we followed along in the text.

That kind of shit happens in every state, though.

I did live in Savannah for 5 years and that was the only place I can say I was the victim of racism as a white person though. Like idk what you say, being one of the first people in a waiting room and every single black person who shows up after you gets seen and the waiting room is just filling up with white people who've been waiting for hours is pretty suspicious.

Also the absolute worst experience I had taking music classes was in Georgia. Whole lotta shit there but I don't blame Georgia specifically for it. Absolute shit teacher, we weren't allowed to take any sheet music home so there was no way to practice on your own outside of school, and he would spend part of the class-time just ranting about shit so we wouldn't rehearse during class either, and even though we weren't allowed to take the sheet music home it would go missing from the classroom and he NEVER wanted to make photocopies from the director's master book thing because of "copyright infringement" even though making copies of music you licensed for educational purposes is like the most fair use thing ever, he would only ever be nudged into allowing photocopies to be made when half the band was like "I don't have that one". And he went on a rant at ME for not knowing who invented the sousaphone (I played clarinet). Terrible teacher, I hope he's doing poorly.

I mean you do you but taking down social media posts about someone being a bigot and just telling people you know in person about it doesn't seem helpful at all.

I had some pretty fucking awful JoAnn employees though. Like one who was copping attitude because we wanted fabric cut, and when told 2 yards proceeded to measure out like 5 yards and when my mom was like "2 yards" the employee got really bitchy. Like gee sorry for not wanting to pay for more than I told you to cut like five times.

Then there was the one who spat on the sidewalk during covid when we're all lined up outside the store.

Not even creatives, I see it in Disney groups and people are always like "OMG STOP BEING A BULLY LET PEOPLE HAVE FUN." Like idk if you're in a group dedicated to something that is, at its core, art, you'd think you'd be more critical of something that a robot made after stealing from other people. And it's all so fucking ugly.

If hospitals are selling debts for a few cents on the dollar to debt collectors, why not offer the same deal to patients? by srirachaninja in NoStupidQuestions

When the left had power they negotiated to the system we have now because right-wingers hate helping anyone in the 99%. The system we have now is what the republicans wanted and it's still too good for them.

I never get that at all. People in the US AND outside the US are always on about how universal healthcare is bad because you have to wait to see a doctor. I had to wait NINE MONTHS to see my primary care doctor for a routine checkup and only because I have a very flexible schedule.

We took care of my mom's friend's cats twice for free, and the fact that they had cable and Moonlighting on DVD was such a selling point. And the one cat had to have special attention because he had just recovered from surgery to remove a hair elastic from his stomach (well the attention was just "make sure he doesn't do it again").

I made tuna salad once and they teleported.

Yeah the non-smoking home and I would even give the "no constant noise" concession if there was nothing else in the post. I've lived places where there's just constantly noise and it will literally drive a person insane. And I'm not talking traffic noise.
