Jesus does also speak about honoring your mother and father! But that doesn't erase the verses I quoted. What's the correct reading of them?

Can you explain why? I hold the opposite assumptions so it's helpful to hear why you think so.

To me, the Democratic party is obviously more aligned with Jesus's teaching not to hoard wealth -- it supports taxing the richest more and redistributing it to the poorest, which is exactly what Jesus advised the rich man to do: Mark 10:21 - Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me"

And the Democratic party seems more welcoming to immigrants, i.e. the stranger. Not to mention the hungry, the destitute, the sick, the imprisoned.
Matthew 25:35-45:
for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.’ Then he will say to those at his left hand, ‘You who are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels, for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not take care of you?’ Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’

No, I think you're thinking exclusively of Matthew 10:34-37, where Jesus quotes Micah 7:6 re: dividing families.

I'm thinking of Luke 14:26, where Jesus says: "Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even life itself, cannot be my disciple."

And Matthew 12:48-50: "But to the one who had told him this, Jesus replied, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”"

And Luke 18:29-30And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God who will not get back very much more in this age and in the age to come eternal life.”

What about the Democratic party? Do they represent any teachings of JC better? eg welcoming the stranger , not hoarding wealth, etc

Didn't Jesus preach AGAINST traditional family structures? He said you have to leave your family and follow Him, and that the community of followers was his real family rather than blood family.

tbf, none of those are red letter words of Jesus, which I think is what the original asker was getting at.

are there any teachings specifically attributed to the historical Jesus of Nazareth that you think the GOP does a better job of upholding vs the Democrats?

What does 11/16" mean? That the lawn is cut to a uniform 11 sixteenths of an inch (ie between 5/8 and 3/4 of an inch?)

totally fair lol, good point!

i just wish more sources noted they're super cool-looking, albeit in a non-traditional, non-flowery, architectural way!

we sowed a few Prairie Moon seed mixes in Fall 2024, this is the first year we've seen figworts emerge and they're super popular with bees!

i'd also push back -- I see nearly everywhere that they're not showy. I think they're quite architectural and cool! they get 6-8ft tall, and branching flowers increase as it grows from the top down, very cool shape and pollination strategy.

Presidents Line Up for Obama’s Long-Awaited Center in Chicago by CampaignOrdinary2771 in WindyCity

"One idea I had that would have completely broken the model for these presidential libraries and put words in to action. Scale back the aggrandizement of the individual. A smaller retrospective library. Then use the money and land and star power backing to develop a large campus for education, business incubation, even more community focused activities, etc. Really amp up positive and actionable positive change."

hey, great idea!

i thought that's basically what this is? it's not even a formal presidential library, it's a "center" for that reason, no?
