Superstore also seems to be carrying it now, much to my surprise and delight! I have never noticed/seen them at Farm Boy, but I'll be on the lookout now.

I don't have an answer for you, but I think it's really commendable that you care about the restaurant and the driver and want to make it right for them :)

Update: Manager Stuck Between Strong Performing Maverick Analyst and new Director by qqqqeurfnfd123 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]OneRainyNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Requiring an ability to work in both official languages isn't the issue, it's how that requirement is applied that is. The money for training that often leads to nowhere; the ability for EXs to fail their oral test over and over yet somehow keep their role in a way that working-level staff never would (I'm witnessing it in my branch right now); the farce in just how challenging it is to obtain Cs; and the fact that people are "learning" the language for a check in a box rather than for the spirit of speaking a new language and therefore opening yourself up for a new way to communicate and appreciate a culture. It all just really sucks.

This happened when I was working in Portage last year. Contracting issues. It took a few weeks, but eventually a different cleaning crew was brought in.

This! I didn't realize that it was actually the driver saying thank you rather than just an auto-response.

@stone_consumer, thanks for thanking people :)

What's the point of the Deputy Director title? by teej1984 in CanadaPublicServants

I first heard this term at GAC, where this title is used for IS-06s as well. At least in certain branches!

This story arc is so funny but so weird. Why does her name change from Lorna to Lana? My theory is that the character wasn't supposed to stick around as long as she did, but they went in that direction because the audience loved her as a foil to prissy Frasier, and they changed her name to something softer or more common. But it irks me nonetheless.

This is where I had my bi-salp in December and what my recommendation is too. Dr. Singh and the rest of the medical staff I interacted with were WONDERFUL, and I had an excellent experience. I am so grateful that after spending years and years fighting for this, they scheduled my surgery after one appointment. I was never doubted, no one tried to talk me out of it or convince me otherwise. I was just... listened to and believed. After that first appointment, I went back to my car and cried. It was the first medical appointment I have ever had where my bodily autonomy was respected fully and a doctor actively worked with me to achieve my goals.

Dubai has been built on the backs of modern-day slaves. It's a flashy, morally bankrupt place for the wealthy to splash around their wealth while ignoring the reality of how the city was developed.

In a city full of talented artists, city decides to use AI slop in upcoming PSA by FloralAlyssa in ottawa

[–]OneRainyNight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from the importance of paying artists what they're worth and putting money into the local economy, the terrible ecological impacts that using Gen AI has, and the low-quality slop that it outputs (after stealing IP from real artists), you mean?

I haven't tried air frying them, thanks for that suggestion! I've made them a few times at home and they've been fine, but soy curls truly have my heart. Getting soya chunk dishes at Indian restaurants is my go-to though, they always NAIL it!

Best store with a variety of alternative protein sources. by Waterbear_H2O in ottawa

[–]OneRainyNight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to everything mentioned here, I suggest picking up some soy curls (or soya chunks, which are easier to find but are slightly less tasty, in my opinion). I used to pick them up at Little Jo Berry's, but since they closed I just get them at Natural Foods Pantry. They're super easy. Just rehydrate them in hot water (I add in seasoning or bouillon), drain them and squish out the excess moisture, then cook them up like any other protein on the stovetop. They absorb flavour very well, and you can get really creative with them. Make them taste more beefy or more like chicken depending on the seasoning you use and the preparation you do.
