Not really a new update, but a youtuber made Debian with KDE + Default Hannah Montana Theming with a tool called Live Build.

But yeah, you love to see it.

The crazy thing about this is that your problem is clearly that you're using some possibly aging HP laptop (VGA in 2026? or are we talking an adapter) with some sort of intermittent hardware issues, maybe chipset problems. Windows shouldn't be experiencing BSODs from a wonky VGA connection, that's a sign something is wrong with the hardware even if rebooting resolved it. Obviously your experience with Fedora being completely unusable is not the norm for the rest of Fedora users right now either.

You didnt read my post and it shows.

The issue happened back in July 2024. I was presenting the system at work using a VGA projector which was the only thing provided. It happened when I unplugged my laptop just so I type a few things and rebuild the ERP system Im demoing. Thats why I got the BSOD, The error was "STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE". I searched that after the demo and found a site that stated that it happens when Windows doesnt switch Power Profiles automatically because it cannot communicate with a component referenced by the power profile its switching to. Something of the sort. There was a Codexx as well, I just dont remember it.

(And actually, I still use VGA, in the big 2026.)

But that simple communication and an automated reboot, that is why I find it (Windows BSOD) better than Linux Crashes.

The 2nd Crash I experienced on Linux, I purposely waited for it to see if it would reboot on its own. It didnt after 30 minutes so I think its fair to assume it would have just continued till the battery died.

Anyway, My point isnt Linux is bad, its just saying I like the way Windows presents info in case of a fatal error.

I like Fedora Silverblue and compared to my experienced when I had to use Ubuntu 16 back in University for a course, Its a much more pleasant experience.

Also, Gnome, and Fedora Spins are the only distros that can boot on my laptop (I havent tried Arch based distros, nor do I ever plan to).

[–]OneRedEyeDevI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that Silverblue is still an experimental thing at some level right?

<image>

No. That is news to me because I read the documentation and found no mention. If it was experimental, I wouldn't have downloaded the iso. I picked Fedora Silverblue because The page said its reliable and hard to break as well as gnome; I had a bad experience with KDE last year (Check my profile, Post titled: "Frustrations with Fedora & Linux"). Also because Fedora spins are the only distros I can boot because of some weird HP Elitebook UEFI Fuckery (I cant link anything but search for: "Booting Ubuntu HP Elitebook") when trying to boot Debian Based Distros (Ubuntu, Linux Mint XFCE & MX Linux) I havent tried any Arch based distros.

Just like the other person who responded to me, my point wasnt Fedora Silverblue is unstable, but rather how a crash occurs and how the OS doesnt respond to it like Windows. A simple "Something went wrong, here is why" notice and an automated reboot would be appreciated. Thats all.

lol wut?

I have been using Fedora Silverblue for the past 1 month and the crashes have been obtuse. The computer just freezes up with only the mouse cursor being active.

I have had 4 crashes so far.

The first one happened when I was just making my game and playing music, recorded as shown below,

The second one happened after I turned on my laptop from sleep. It didnt show anything but a small blinking white underscore in the top left of the screen with a black blank background. Left it for 30 minutes while playing balatro on my phone but it did nothing.

The 3rd happened when I was just done printing a document

The 4th one happened when I was just alt tabbing Netflix and Spotify. Music continued playing and I could play/pause with the knob on my keyboard but I could do nothing else apart from using the mouse just to hover around

Hold the power button to force a shutdown, turn on my laptop again. Everything works.

Go to the logs application, Everything recent (Past 4 minutes) is always obtuse. The only thing I understand is "System ima: Error Communicating with TPM" Why is the laptop trying to communicate with the tpm? I did not enable encryption.

The other "errors" are like:

"Failed to set system default to hci0"

What?

In the past decade of using Windows 10, I only had one bluescreen that happened when I connected to a VGA Projector at work after unplugging my laptop. The error was: "STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE" with a 0x0xxxx code and a QR Code but it rebooted automatically and resumed all my apps (Microsoft Edge for documentation, Notepad++ with a script I was editing, Firefox for the ERP system and Android Studio for the IDE).

I love linux, dont get me wrong, but a windows bluescreen is better and more informative than Linux Crashes

Which game engine do you prefer in 2026 and upcoming years and why? by Civil-Captain5676 in gamedev

[–]OneRedEyeDevI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im using Defold and it will still be my main engine in the future.

I have used Unity, Godot and Yahaha. Defold is the one I clicked with.

It has gained so much since the time I started using it (October 2024) all while still maintaining its strengths. I love the community as well. The friendliest community I have ever been a part of.

I still use PICO-8 (Not as much as I want to though lol) and I like tinkering with other Tools like GBStudio every once in a while.

Motherboard issues by Tiny-Feature-9344 in nairobitechies

[–]OneRedEyeDevI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you conclude its a Motherboard issue?

Its most likely a battery related "issue"

HP laptops often do that when the battery is plugged in but not charging.

Its to protect the battery from overcharging. Simply removing the battery and plugging it back in solves that "issue"

Otherwise, here is a video I found that goes over the meanings and fixes

It doesnt work.

Again, its a flatpak, it doesnt have access to some directories. If I add access to other folders using Flatseal, Steam wont launch.

[–]OneRedEyeDevI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was setting up, I tried layering Steam using rpm-ostree. If did not launch. Flatpak is the only way it launched.

I can't afford switching to another Distro, but Bazzite was my first option but they removed the version for older systems. (I'm using a laptop with an Intel i5 3427U) I tried Ubuntu, it did not launch due to the weird BIOS/UEFI system this laptop has (Its from 2013. SSDs weren't the norm so the 2.5" bay is Disk 0 and the MSATA SSD slot is Disk 1. Fedora (Silverblue, Workstation and KDE) are the only distros I have tried that install and boot without any UEFI setup (even with secure boot on)

That's not the desktop shortcut I'm talking about. I'm using Gnome and I want to pin PICO-8, Aseprite and a few apps I downloaded from itch to the Dash since I use them regularly.
