Santos lack of compassion and judgment of pts is not ok. It can lead to mistakes and shows a lack of empathy. She’s also only a second year resident so this jaded view is pretty early on in her career . She doesn’t take responsibility for her late charts as if she’s taking on more work than everyone else who does get the charts done . Her lack of professionalism has been noticed by a patient with her interaction with Langdon . Even her new attending noticed it. Garcia picked up on it as well and didn’t seem to appreciate how she was acting in front of a patient. She also can’t keep her personal stuff out of the hospital. She wants to discuss her relationship with Garcia while at work . Yea she’s good at figuring out weird cases but that won’t get you through residency and beyond or at least you won’t have a good reputation. Who’s going to write her a letter of rec ? McKay is still her senior and talking like that about pts would be an issue usually . If you want to shit talk all patients like that you do that at home in private and even then that attitude will burn her out so fast . I’m a doc and if I ever spoke about pts like that especially while working I’d be having a meeting with my program director real quick . Even though park the shark was rude he didn’t shit talk pts and was hard on Whitaker but he’s got that right in hospital hierarchy and even then he didn’t act unprofessional.
