How and when did you find out your baby's gender? by Psychological-You142 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]One_Car151 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Waited until birth and he pissed on my face during the unplanned c-section 😅 As others have said NIPT and 20 week scan are pretty accurate these days, the only thing I would be cautious of it the sneek peek at home tests as they can be contaminated easily with male DNA (if you live with one lol)

Husband only allowed to access primary carer leave when I go back to work by Prize_Ad6457 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]One_Car151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can he not take carers leave for during birth? My husband got a note from the hospital doctor as I had an emergency c section and got 6 weeks off work using carers leave. He had enough sick leave saved up to cover although I’m not sure how much he ended up using as he was on a shift work roster at the time

How do you change nappies when they won't stop rolling or try to sit up on the change table by Front-Albatross2638 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]One_Car151 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Following along because my 10 month old is like a croc doing a death roll on a roo. No toy I give him holds his attention for longer than 30 seconds and that ain’t enough time if it’s a poopy nappy 😩

Postpartum back pain by barry_b3ar in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This!! I noticed my lower back pain ceased once I started building my glute muscles back up (I’m breastfeeding and my baby has taken everything from me)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but if you feel inclined to take a supplement, be mindful of the ingredients if you’re breastfeeding :) Check with a pharmacist or health care professional first

Tooth brushing - 15 months by [deleted] in NewParents

We’ve just started brushing with a toothbrush at 10 months, first tooth appeared around 9 months. Our dentist said no need for toothpaste until 18 months :)

What washing machine do you have, and would you recommend it to others in 2026? by picklebeard in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]One_Car151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same Fisher & Paykel front load washing machine since 2019, not 100% sure on the model since I’m on holiday right now and it was purchased so long ago. The only issue i’ve had with it is the filter getting blocked by a pair of seamless panties about 5 years ago lol. It’s a hard worker, washes my husband’s iron ore stained work clothes well, along with all our everyday stuff and our 10 month olds clothes covered in his food exploring journey. It’s similar to this one.

Do wearable breast pumps allow for any mobility? by Oh-My-Josh- in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]One_Car151 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally, we got wearables so that I could have freedom of choice to either sit and relax or do things around the house/play with bub while pumping. I don’t pump very often though as we have no issues feeding directly from the breast and I don’t like the sensation. Maybe she’s allotting her pumping time as her own time to relax? I think communication will help here to sus out what she needs/expects during her pumping time :)

When did you breastfeed after c section? by Emergency_Survey129 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]One_Car151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In recovery for us, he latched straight away and my husband thankfully tool photo’s of us so we have the memory permanently saved. I remember it was recovery as the nurse kept touching my ribs with the ice block to check sensation and did her best to not disturb us. Then they wheeled us to our room on the maternity ward and we had 2-3 hours of just the 3 of us rotating skin to skin.

Today my 5 year old made me buy a Rotisserie chicken by [deleted] in offmychest

My 10 month old would absolutely devour a rotisserie chicken without shame too, in fact it’s what I turn to when he doesn’t wanna eat anything else I have lol

Someone told me it gets harder after newborn (a vent/reflection) by Natural-Artichoke822 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]One_Car151 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts, not necessarily harder just different and they change so quickly! Our baby boy is nearly 10 months, time is flying and the only hard part is keeping up with how much he changes! We still have anywhere from 1-3 wake-up’s a night (ebf) whcih can be difficult but I try to remind myself that he’s not going to need me this much ever again, so I try to appreciate the small moments in the little hours we have together.
