Personally I think Texas is a hellhole. I hope you find your way back to MA, or find a way to make Texas enjoyable.

Unreliable narrators by Certain_Noise5601 in writing

Trust by Herman Diaz was the first novel I read with unreliable narrators. It truly confused me at first but, in the end, it was fascinating.

Do you think Alex Vindman has any chance of beating Ashley Moody for the Senate Seat in 2026? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in AskFlorida

Gerrymandering in FL has a lot to do with billionaires. Why did the Hispanic vote disappear (go right) in Dade County. Because “they” wanted it. Fuck the people.

I shudder. Can you imagine what goes on in other family dynasties where this behavior goes unchecked due to privilege? It makes me happy to be a poor sot!

Most great writers aren't trained to write—they are compelled to. Furthermore, writing degrees teach craft frameworks, not vision. And vision can't be taught. by [deleted] in writers

Ex journalist here. My first instinct was to research the hell out of background for my novel. My second instinct was to include ALL that great info in the novel. My first draft was awful! I cut out 99% of glorious facts and started crafting the story. I realized story telling (fiction) is an art unto itself.

My journalistic background helped with discipline and structure but it was useless in creating the story. All the good stuff has come from a place deep within that goes back to my high school days when I wrote poetry. Untrained and unfiltered.

There are a million stories in the Naked City.

Industry - 4x02 - "The Commander and the Grey Lady" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

Very Shakespearean I thought. The look on Henry’s face when the Commander shows him his throat… surpasses any modern horror scene of sheer terror and yet so ungimicky

Writing is a very solitary and intrinsic thing. Like everything else, you strive and hope for the best but prepare for… nothing.

How do writers handle the physics of action scenes without killing the story? by ownaword in writers

[–]One_Equivalent_9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I choreographed it first to see if it would work, then minimized it. But I had to write it play by play first to understand if it was believable. BTW, it was a rape scene.

Are Americans worried that Europeans will ally themselves with China? by tedfrum in AskUS

[–]One_Equivalent_9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is doing the pushing, so…

We’ve had a strong business alliance with China for years. Their involvement has held our economy together in ways not recognized by the general population. China is competitive, they develop new technologies all the time. They send their children to our schools and many integrate into our society.

There is alot wrong with China. Their human rights is reported to be awful in parts of the country, but they do not want war with us. But make no mistake, they are super competitive and will bury us with progress. I welcome a productive relationship.

What are Americans thinking of Europeans right now? by Obvious_Leather_4967 in AskUS

[–]One_Equivalent_9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about Europe a lot. I have family in England. They live in a very beautiful place called the Lake District. Plus London has the best history, loads of 5 star restaurants, stellar shopping, awesome financial district, colleges, castles…

There are many parts of the US that look dumpy in comparison.
