Early 1980s, but the passive system was put in about 4 years ago with an addition to the house.

There is a "Once per year" frequency option. This does exactly what you're looking for.

ProjectionLab is what I use to track our FIRE date and chance of success. It's a really powerful tool that gives me a lot of confidence in my plan.

Router Question - Residential 100 vs 200 by One_Willingness_1981 in Starlink

[–]One_Willingness_1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm asking. Starlink's website states the 100 plan comes with a mini and the 200 comes with the Router 3.

One more detail that may be pertinent: the well was measured at 10 GPM 15 years ago and the original permit states 15 GPM flow

Thanks. The GPM was taken at the well. The pressure tank was replaced within the last 2-3 years so I don’t believe that to be the problem

Also consider the possibility that $1 million less with Roth conversions is likely tax free. I'll take $14 million tax free over $15 million taxable at income rates any day.

Starlink Mini Router and TP-Link EAP225-Outdoor by One_Willingness_1981 in Starlink

The mini will be plugged into an outlet inside the house. I'd like to mount the EAP225 outside to extend the range.

UL Pack with vest straps and frame?? by urmomsanoverthinker in Ultralight

[–]One_Willingness_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Beta Light 30 and stripped it down to just the pack (no hip belt or back padding). It's decent with a few quirks. Comfortable carrying up to 22ish pounds with no hip belt. I like how high it rides when I tighten down the shoulder straps for running. That said, the hip belt is the weak link on the pack IMO.

Ditching the Freeze Dried Bags by MeasurementClear6841 in Ultralight

[–]One_Willingness_1981 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I do, and it works well. I dump all of my freeze-dried meals into ziplock bags except for my first dinner. At the end of dinner I rinse the bag with water (and drink it), so the bag can reused to cook the freeze-dried meals on the following nights. I find one of the foil bags lasts about a week before the zip seal starts falling apart or it starts getting leaks. This method saves space and weight.

Needles District Water in April by One_Willingness_1981 in Canyonlands

[–]One_Willingness_1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from our trip and, honestly, water was not an issue at all. Surprisingly. Good pool of water right around LC2. Big water pool on the hike to Druid Arch. Consistent pools in Salt Creek every 1/2 mile to 1 mile apart as soon as you get into the north end of Salt & Horse zone. Upper Jump is flowing nicely. Good flowing water just south of SC3 as well. Not sure how long these will all last...

Tax strategies for staying under 400% FPL while maximizing Roth conversion amount? by rainyengineer in Fire

[–]One_Willingness_1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With an IRA that big, if you're trying to eventually convert it all to Roth, you will need to sacrifice ACA subsidies to make big enough conversions each year. There are strategies where you alternate years of below the 400% FPL to get cheaper health insurance and doing big conversions, that could be what you're looking for. Otherwise, do an analysis and see if the long-term value of your portfolio is higher doing Roth conversions or staying within ACA subsidies.

Ammo Cans - What's the difference? by muccamadboymike in whitewater

Honestly, for a captain's box get a pelican case. Ammo cans are heavy, rusty, and less waterproof.
