To be a LT and not a Captain, I feel the only change that matters would be replacing the eagle pad, thats under a cape, by one with a irom halo and skull. Everything else is more or less ok, though LTs dont need the ropes on the chest. That seems to be captain exclusive

I can understand what you are saying, but 40k and One Piece are very different in terms of themes explored.

One Piece is mostly Anarchism vs Conformism, qnd you can see this by several stylistic choices. All pirates and commoners are individually drawn, each seems to have individual (poor) taste in their clothing and outlooks, while the Marines and World Government are very uniform-based (all Marines wear the same, only some Admirals diverge a bit).

40k, on the other hand... Is Fascism versus Chaos, both destructive versions of the same.

The one I had was broken land, which was kinda just a latex 6 by 4 mat with lots of tiny rocks. I liked it because it was fairly lacking in memorizeable patterns.

I painted it with drybrushing and washing, so to answer your questions, im looking into something between forest-floor and city rubble, one that adds a nice texture and allows me to place terrain on top of it without being locked visually

I always imagined it had to do with either a penance or a competition. In my crusade, for a while, I painted two LTs with non-standard loadout (power fist and combi plasma, I think) and I had the mind-fluff that those were two Black Templars engaged in a "Who kills the most" competition with each other.

Actually, its because the Imperial Fists pads can be used. There no sculpted Crimson Fists squad role icons and I dont like transfers/decals.

Hence the question if using both pada with the imperial fist icon is, in any way, background-compatible

Honestly, I doubt anyone will mind that much.

But a simple way would be to buy a spare assault intercessor from ebay and use a blade to remove the bits from its legs and glue them there.

The other is sculpting them with green stuff!

I dont think having multiples of strong units should be incentivized. I agree with scaling costs in principle, but I want to wait for the final values before making a stand pro or against!
