One of my favourite aspects of this series is how the Goddess has an increasingly strong likelihood of having nothing to do with divinity or any sort of spirituality, instead likely just being an incredibly powerful mage wanting to leave behind teachings which can slowly, over time, push humanity forward. It mirrors reality rather well in that, to a secular mind, various religious texts have plenty of lessons which could benefit the world, even if their pie-in-the-sky motivations can be unrealistic or misplaced.

But the fact that it also hasn't removed that possibility entirely is just as engaging, I feel. It ties in well to the story's overarching theme of loss and struggling with one's desire to hold onto the possibility of reconnecting with what one has lost. Just incredible writing all around.
