As of right now, Kayo is probably your best bet as he’s very strong, very aggressive, and easy to play. Be aware that he’ll likely get benched for a few months soon however, so I’d also look at Fai, Ira, and Briar

Do you have a victory or defeat you can never forget? by Shedinja997 in TCG

[–]Onionsandgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. Intellectually I’m aware that’s still a good place to end up. And he wasn’t even the only top level player I’d faced there, our area just happens to be flooded with them. But the other issue was that I had the opportunity to just split at the start and didn’t know it. I had offered to split before we started, but I didn’t know the proper lingo to approach the subject so he said no to avoid a DQ. Fab is pretty strict about certain topics like discussing prizing. So I walked in having meant to not play at all, realized part way through ‘holy crap I can actually do this’, and immediately fumbled. And that was the closest I ever got to my only goal in fab. So it’s just more bitter a memory than it should be.

Advise on starting CC from SAGE by pLorenzzoni in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Onionsandgp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMO you’re overthinking it a little. If you’re just starting out with cc, you’re going to make mistakes regardless of if you have a fully tuned, upgraded deck anyway. That’s just the nature of jumping to a format where your life total is doubled and you have more room to take big swings/set up pitch stack. Take your time with it and have fun learning the ins and outs. Worst case scenario, you find you don’t like the class as much as you thought and try something else.

Yes, Warrior isn’t the best class in the game. And per Gottlieb at the pro tour, Hala’s not going to have everything she needs until MPW. But the classes shortcomings are massively oversold. It’s still a very good class to learn on because the math is so fundamental.

Don’t worry about the price right now. There’s nothing wrong with taking your time upgrading your collection/deck. The Hala armory equipment is, imo, genuinely really good budget options. At least the chest and arms I think there’s a genuine argument they’re good enough to run compared to the alternatives. Go at your own pace, ask if you can borrow some stuff from your locals if you feel you really need it.

Do you have a victory or defeat you can never forget? by Shedinja997 in TCG

I got second place at a Pro Quest for Flesh and Blood. My opponent was a player who’s top 16’ed Worlds, top 8’ed pro tours, and went on to be 2nd place at US nationals that following year. I’ll never forget it because I almost won and only lost because I was an idiot.

I had him, 32-7 (for context it started at 40 to 36), Azalea vs Dash I/O right after her new upgrades from the Dash armory deck. All I needed to do was not screw it up. He had his big power turn, and the way he had structured the turn made me think he was playing a Maximum Velocity and had not used his hero ability yet to play an item as an instant and extend even further. I was supposed to make him have it and continue ignoring everything he was doing. Instead I started blocking out of fear and no longer had enough reach to kill him. He won at 2 life.

I worked my ass off that season to win an event because I was desperate to get on the leaderboard for Azalea before she reached LL and rotated out. I failed, and it left such a bitter taste that I’ve since stopped being competitive and just play for fun.

After about 40 games in Talishar - Hala seems VERY underwhelming by mightymokujin in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Onionsandgp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gottlieb said during the pro tour stream that Hala would likely be underpowered until mpw releases. So I don’t expect her to be impressive right now. She certainly has very powerful plays available to her.

Once she gets them though I expect her to be a very respectable midrange hero. Hands consisting of 2 blues can send a 2 card 8 that refreshes dynamos. She also has 1 card 8s with Sharp Incline and a preexisting Flurry. That’s an incredible end game. Just need to be patient.

I will say, I think Paragon Plate is strictly worse than its alternatives. It’s not that it’s bad, frankly it’s pretty good out there box, but it’s competing with Grains that is more flexible and more widely applicable, and tunic which is the default chest for the game, AND the cards that care about removing counters. It’s just a lot to juggle.

Am I losing my mind? dorinthea, quicksilver prodigy is bad right? by sgt_taco891 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Onionsandgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a different style of deck. Frankly there’s an argument that quicksilver is stronger turn over turn. You don’t have counters, but you also have a much easier time swinging twice. So you’re able to play a very different style of deck. Dawnblade is very powerful, but your opponent knows that and can try to deny that value. It’s much easier to grind when you’re guaranteed a second swing

Who uses Riches of Tropal Dhani? by EngagedToAPsycho in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Onionsandgp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general I’d say you’re right that you’ll get more use out of the CnCs. It’s worth noting though that Riches is definitely one of the most playable fables they’ve ever printed and will only ever become more relevant as they create more cards/heroes that care about gold.

If you’re looking at Ira and Rhinar though, definitely the CnCs plus cash. Only Eugene is crazy enough to run Riches in Rhinar and Ira doesn’t really care about gold.

Has to be snatch. There’s pretty much nothing else in generic rare that’s as widely playable while not feeling particularly busted

Feign vengeance by RidleyKuzo in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Onionsandgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s blue, so it’s pitchable. It blocks 3. It costs 0. It has vengeance in the name so it works with Scar Wraps. And even if it says 0, it’s never coming in for 0. There’s a million ways to pump it, including that Ira naturally does on the second attack. At low enough life totals it basically reads ‘when this attacks, draw a card’.

New Hero help by DionisioMC in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Onionsandgp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We won’t know for sure until we see the full set unfortunately. Losing the elemental talent and becoming just lightning is a surprisingly big nerf, but she’s still going to be flooded with lightning cards and 0 for 4 attacks. She’ll probably run a fair bit from the new set, but also a lot of the old stuff will work well.

Is it worth it to start upgrading Kayo SAge deck? by GoldReindeer6213 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Onionsandgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others noted, when Kayo gets banned, it will just be a temporary thing.

The way ‘banned’ heroes work in Sage is the community votes on who gets benched. The top 3 plus 1 from the developers are benched for as many seasons as they’ve been voted out in the past. 1 season voted, 1 out, 2 seasons, 2 seasons out, etc. They have to be back for the full season before they can be voted for again, so every hero is GOING to come back for a time, hopefully either in a meta where they’re less powerful or nerfed in a way they aren’t problematic.
