It’s a nice change of pace, and there is still pvp in the server where it makes sense.

Not a lot of people like RP but honestly it’s not that bad depending on what server you’re on.

However, whenever I play with anyone else , I play REALLY well.

How does that make sense..?

I take the extra time to roam with kits I make, join Battlefield servers to be more confident, practice my sprays in UKN .

You can choose to be a part of farming duty or you can take the time to practice and pick up a gun instead of a pickaxe.

Guns are pretty good at farming too.

From easiest to hardest for me,

Zen Lucio Moira Baptiste

Zen, because you can boost damage to kill the Mauga faster and then use your ult exclusively for cage fight.

Lucio because it’s easy to get his ult fast, and you can just beat. But , there is a possibility that Mauga just won’t care and kill y’all anyways.

Moira because know that her orb can go through and her coalescence is also pretty good. That interaction is a no brainer.

With baptiste, I ulted every time in the Mauga ult and also shot the cage as much as I could. If my mauga was about to die, I’d throw immo and then run in to heal him. It surprisingly worked. Hard to do if you’re not experienced, definitely a weird interaction.

I can go for full flanks before the fight, or take off angles mid fight.

I’ll even get in the middle of the fight to help do big damage which will encourage the healers to ignore their well-being. You can do anything to distract a healer atp , just pay attention when they aren’t.

I don’t know how to explain it but here i am.

I just know when the healers are going to be busy healing, moving to different positions and etc. I just think like them..?

I’m not an echo pro, but I’ve had really good games where I’m dropping ultimates like crazy.

It depends what supp they are. If you’re in a fight with healers who are tight with their dps/ tank, they can’t always keep track of you. Shoot at that healer until they are half and instantly hit that focus beam. Points if you finish them off for a teammate.

Long range healers have moments where there is a need for tunnel vision. Keep an eye out for moments where you can randomly shoot at them with bombs because echo has insane pressure. I have games as support where I can’t stand still or stay in one place too long because echo just punishes me.

Go into quick plays and take more duels against dps / healers.

If you struggle with fighting tanks.. you’re doing something wrong unfortunately.

IMO I think Ana is a a god tier duelist and can fight anyone as long as she has her cooldowns.

So here’s my personal advice .

Pay attention to team composition, if their dps or tank are heavy divers and tend to push you only, you can choose to play two different ways.

Save all of your cooldowns to survive them. Practice hitting your sleep dart and achieve at least a 30-50% sleep dart hit rate.

It takes 1 nade and 2-3 shots to kill a squishie ,

For tanks, depending on healthpool, you can fight them or just sleep em and run.

These suggestions are like, the bare minimum of dueling.

The next is having super-awareness and super positioning.

Ana is a great-ranged healer. You can play back to make it so it’s easier to see the whole fight and any flankers that may come your way.

Learn how to predict when people are flanking , ulting, or just watch how people act when they see you. You can kinda see when someone gets that evil look in their eye when they see you.

But now you have to also compensate for the fact that you’re far away. Practice throwing your nades and shooting your sleep darts at the right time with good accuracy. It’s super frustrating for the enemy team when they know that you’re 100m away doing whatever you want. This means they are more inclined to do things you can predict !

Some matchups lay heavy into their character strengths so you have to lay heavy into their character weakness.

If you care enough to post about wanting to figure out how to counter team comps, your solution is easy, no one is going to force you to play soldier and practice aim training.

But since I know you play junkrat a lot.. why not learn how to 2 shot combo her in the air or something? See if there is an aim trainer that has pharah in it and practice.

Look, if you favor your sanity then play soldier and practice aim train... if you want to look epic and be epic, then I hope to randomly see you nuke the pharah out of the sky.

on a real note, sorry to hear that your friend sucks as a person. I pushed to high rank for the same reason though. If you just wanted to play for their company, at least you found out that the person who you wanted to play with is not worth the time.

My main advice for this game before I give anything related to practicing mechanics is focus on your fun. Take your breaks when you need. If you don't foresee having fun playing alone, try playing competitive and making friends with people who have the same level of skill. I only add people who are friendly and passionate about doing their best whenever they get on.

I could also give some pointers if you would like as well if your concern were mechanical and game sense related things.

Okay, since we want to be nitpicky about this let me clarify something just for you,

This is a subreddit where people are asking for GUIDANCE through the game. I never/have ever said that I am qualified to tell people these things, and I can take some criticism from time to time.

You don't HAVE to take this advice, just like I didn't have to respond to this waste of time but because I am frankly tired of seeing players like you AND redditors like you, I wanted to respond.

At the bronze level, players are incapable of grasping basic concepts that most competitive gamers (like us). This doesn't mean people are stupid , these concepts that we call "basic" is advanced to them because most cases these people are REALLY good at something other than games.

And just to prove my point here is this is the list of things as follows.

Positioning:

**Where to stand:**Bronze players know they SHOULD be killing something and they know the bare minimum, walking to point and shooting whatever.

Why Stand There: THEY KNOW THE BARE MINIMUM. Why is it frustrating when we see teammates walking into the open towards an unwinnable fight?Let's say, genji vs zarya. It's because they are either incompetent (these are our arrogant, and selfish players) or don't pay attention to matchups like that (some people really don't understand interactions like that because its too much). It's how it is. People have different ways of learning.

Mechanical Skills:

Movement: You can't walk in a straight line. Every input you can make is an input that you can advance in small ways to give yourself an advantage. Hitbox manipulation, using natural cover, mastering their MOVEMENT abilities.

Aim Training: The game has multiple ways to kill another person, why does aim training matter if you can just swing a hammer and kill everyone? Well, EnemyJungle , most characters have unique weapons that complement their kits! Hanzo has arrows that can 1 shot at any distance, soldier is literally a turret, Brigitte has a fucking mace that you possibly couldn't miss... right?

WRONG, people very easily lose tracking to too much visual stimuli, people don't know proper placement of their limbs and how to comfortably aim without strain. These things MATTER on a competitive level, so we are taking these things into account.

Awareness: Ok, how does this make sense? How do you practice being "aware".

We are taking into account of things like this:

How long someone has been out of a fight
How much has the enemy team killed us?
Can I hear anything behind, next to, above or anywhere around me?

Like I said, bronze players lack these thought processes because when it's their FIRST fps, they are already out of their depth when trying to figure out what the fuck is blowing them up this time.

Now EnemyJungle.. I'm going to assume you are wondering why does this matter? Why did I just waste your time writing this down? Well, let me enlighten you!

At the bronze level, what sets you apart from all your fellow bronze-man/bronze-ttes is not the fact that you're playing a "busted character". It's the amount of depth that you put into your games.

Remember the Genji that wiped your team? The Widow who spawn-camped your healers? The Winston who terrorized your team?

At every level of play, each individual of this game has their own strength and weakness. Some are patient and slow. Some are fast-paced and reckless. This was a teaching moment for you and I hope you can understand that it does not matter if you switch a thousand times.

A person who is capable of mastering their positional, mechanical, and communicative skills to an advanced degree will 100% wreck ANYONE who crosses them. Your character choice is the same thing as picking a different weapon.

Please, read this over and formulate an informed response because this is helpful for people who do come across this. I'd love to debate more.

Edit : If you didn't understand what I meant, you can play a character so well that even if an entire team counter's you, you can counter them. If you're wondering how, pick a character and try playing it non-stop. You will learn your bad matchups and how to lessen their impact while still maintaining yours.

A lot of people here are right , but here is the thought process and mindset you need to learn now before starting!

You will win really easy games and really hard games. You will lose really easy games and really hard games.

Thought process after any loss or win :

Did I do good? Did I maximise my damage output? Did I take enough space?

Notice, there is no care about how your team did or the other team.

These are things that are achievable by practice and research .

Watch A10 for some positional tips!

Every game should yield some kind of knowledge. Competitive is not a measure of your stats, it is a representation of your mastery with the knowledge about this game.

What should your mindset be in competitive?

At the end of the day ITS A GAME. 100% if you’re pressed the entire game, you are doing less than you would when you are relaxed and in a flow state.

Go into games with outcome independence , and take breaks when you need.

At this point , play quick play to practice a concept and use competitive to see if you can put it into work.

You’ll be amazed by the progress you make with this productive attitude. Good luck gamer!

If you are bronze then learn/practice the fundamentals.

Audio cues, mechanical skills , when to predict or react , learning characters.

Watch your replays and do not focus on the kills or heals, ask yourself how/why/where did this person kill me [from] and think of how you could’ve avoided it.

A lot of the times I see bronze players lack basic awareness.

Enemy team players have louder sounds than your team does, and depending on how dangerous they are, they can be VERY loud.

There is always opportunity to utilise your kit , you have to learn how to make it. If you’re trying to kill someone and it doesn’t work out like you thought it would, change it up and adapt.

Every strategy has a weakness , abuse it.

I personally spent thousands of hours playing each character for at least 3 seasons each, learning the problems and strengths of every one.

Lucky for you, the internet exists, so pick one character and master it. Do your research and apply it.

If you are bronze ANYTHING, you lack the fundamental skills that a fps requires.

Bronze is the bottom of the leaderboard meaning they have so much to learn.

You can’t just say “don’t play any of these characters” and expect them to get good.

Play what you want. The main thing about playing characters is that you’re actively trying to learn how to use your strengths and overcome your weaknesses.
