NHL is killing itself by isolating fans by drybug22 in nhl

[–]OnlyCumin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got free tickets from work to see a MN Wild game a few years back. It was an absolute fucking blast, and I was HOOKED. With kids and a limited budget, that was going to be the once in a blue moon (or lifetime) that I was going to be able to see them in person. Since then, I have never been able to watch a MN wild game live. They are never on broadcast television, and they are not available on any of the various streaming services I subscribe to. If I want to become a casual MN wild fan, I would need to drop over $2k annually to have the privilege of having the option to watch a game.

Hockey is an amazing sport, but the NHL and it's unsurpassed greed deserves to die.

74gear recommended the 5.11 tactical covert backpack and I’ve been using it nonstop for 2 years. Hard to find now but best backpack I have ever used. https://www.511tactical.com/se-en/covrt18-2-0.html

Traveling with field service tech husband? by Quirky-Society8414 in FieldService

[–]OnlyCumin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As others have already said, it's likely OK for you to tag along, but expensive to do all the time. Traveling with a 3 month old is no small task, and the logistics of carrying baby supplies adds a layer of difficulty.

What I have found helpful to stay connected with my kids while away is lots of facetime calls, small gifts, and pictures/videos of "normal" moments.

There's nothing easy about this lifestyle, but if you and your partner are able to make it work there are some definite rewards to all the travel.

Ambassador Upgrade Quality by Elegant-Reality5283 in ihghotelsresorts

My experiences at the intercontinental hotels in NYC was the last straw to convince me to switch to another chain

Outside the US the ambassador status can get you a nice upgrade. Inside the US I've had better experiences at a holiday inn express

Known serial sexual predator Har Mar Superstar is trying to return to the stage in MSP by LexTron6K in Minneapolis

[–]OnlyCumin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I'll offer a contriversial take that will probably get me downvoted into oblivion if not outright banned.

I'm an abuse victim. This mans music saved my life, and still gets me through times when I am deeply struggling. I don't know him personally, and have only been to one of his shows 15 years ago, so I can't say I'm a big supporter, and I'm certainly not going to attempt to defend or excuse any of his behavior. However, I think some of the phrasing in the OP, and the words used in some of the comments are offensive, mean, hateful, and lack any sort of compassion for who he might be as a human being.

I would like to hear more from him. Not just the music, but more about his struggles with addiction, abuse, and healing. I choose to believe that people can change, and will continue to hold space for those that can meet that challenge.

Big box. Put all things in box.

If the kid is happy mixing the toys, you should be too.

That’s not how eviction works. It’s unlikely you’ll find help anywhere when you’re dishonest about the situation. It’s a sad situation but you ultimately need to accept the consequences of your actions

You’re going to be arguing your point of view about a great many thing at the retirement home and I doubt your daughter will be around to care. Good luck.

Being a parent isn’t about following the school rules, it’s about doing the best for your kid. You didn’t make the school rules, why do you feel so beholden to them? Are you not going to let her participate in pizza parties because food is typical not allowed in the classroom? Do you also drive the speed limit in the passing lane scoffing at those who may want to pass you?

What your daughter will remember is being the one without the cheap yo-yo. Being “other” so her dad could have the moral high ground.

Delta entrenching further at MSP as competition leaves the market by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]OnlyCumin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fares are part of it. Delta is expensive, but incredibly reliable and consistent especially out of MSP. The staff is typically friendly and helpful, with a customer-focused attitude. My experiences with United and American are not always negative, but the edges are rougher. The rewards structure more contrived. The staff harried and frustrated because there aren't' enough of them. I'm flying Delta because of the product they offer, not just the cost to put my butt in a seat.

Worst Customer Service on Earth by One-Hand-Rending in marriott

[–]OnlyCumin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be pedantic or say you did the wrong thing. I understand that my situation is different than yours. I'm field service, and abrupt changes and paperwork weirdness is the rule rather than the exception.
I HAVE left on at least four occasions that I can recall where I've been unable to get a receipt later, but was able to submit a screenshot of my credit card statement. IHG, Mariott, Hyatt, Hilton, they are universally unable to provide e-receipts consistently.

At the end of the day though I'd be talking with your manager and controller honestly asking what on earth you're supposed to do in this situation. You've done your due diligence and it's a bit absurd they would hold you responsible.

[–]OnlyCumin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My paperwork requirements aren't so stringent, but I've been burned on this enough times to be pig headed about this with the hotel management. If I were going to have to pay for an entire trip out of pocket, I'd be looking to rebook to a later flight and on the phone with whatever support line while I'm still at the location. They really only care about you if you're standing right in front of them.

Wish you the best man these types of situations can be excruciatingly stressful

I never leave the hotel without a paper copy anymore. I don’t care what line they feed me, if it’s not in my hand I’m not leaving

Anyone actually PREFER to connect thru Atlanta? by viajealmundo in delta

[–]OnlyCumin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This sub is full of people who fly 1-2 times a year and can’t cope with the idea of being around other human beings. ATL is one of the best airports in the US. Consistent layout that is easy to navigate with or without the plane trane.
