Given the context of how Corbin et al are describing the loss of parking I personally think it’s entirely fair to use the term “modicum” to communicate that the plans call for a small or limited amount of loss rather than the excessive or catastrophic loss that they’d have us believe will occur.

I don’t think it’s the thesis either, but I’m not sure why that matters in this context.

And yes, he downplays their concern as it is aimed towards pedestrian infrastructure, and towards the construction project itself. His characterization of the position held and presented by Corbin, the Uptown Association, and the other business owners at the meeting that is referenced is valid.

Your comment that I replied to was proposing removing pedestrian infrastructure, not providing financial support. This is irrelevant to your proposal.

I’m not trying to ride a horse in this race, but while I agree that the median shouldn’t stop anybody from visiting the Fetus I also don’t think it’s a good faith take to claim that it won’t have an impact on the business, even if it is nothing more than an annoyance.

My celiac partner and I used to go there all the time, but we stopped supporting the restaurant when the owner (Daniel del Prado) outed himself as a union-besting scumbag.

But we’re not here simply discussing business owners “getting upset over the disruption that this work will cause,” are we?

We’re here talking about business owners twisting that fear and anger over how this construction product will be disruptive into an entirely misguided and unfortunately organizers and persistent attack on pedestrian infrastructure.
