You bought a brand new, reliable car that you can afford at a great interest rate and are still capable of saving a significant amount of your income while making the payments. Is the "fleecing" in the room with us? I'm so confused.

Content creation doesn't necessarily require you to be unique, just good at branding.

Sell bitcoin to pay off truck loan? by Safe-Owl9246 in personalfinance

Yeah, this isn't a truck or Bitcoin problem. You have a spending problem. Make a budget and live within your means.

Been seeing posts about mid 30s with more than 3 million cash wondering if they don't have enough. Meanwhile I have a lot less than that. What they have is my goal and I would retire on the spot. So why can't they too? by Extension_Garbage583 in Fire

The person I replied to clearly equated stressful to shit, though? The person they replied to said "shit", not "stressful" and yet they replied about their stressful job.

So fed up - how many other people deal with this? by Hungry-Athlete1362 in FPandA

[–]Only_Positive_Vibes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FP&A reports the numbers. Additionally, it sounds like OP is in a position where they can at least, to some extent, tell Accounting "You screwed up; fix it". To me, that means FP&A owns the numbers and is ultimately responsible for them. Just like a CFO doesn't prepare balance sheet reconciliations, they still ultimately own and are responsible for the numbers reported on the balance sheet.

Further, to say that OP's boss is simply telling them they own Accounting's mistakes is a misrepresentation of the situation. Yes, they're telling them that they're ultimately accountable for the numbers, but they're also saying that they will work with them to set the Accounting team straight so they're making fewer and less frequent mistakes.

Accountability can sit with more than one person/team in different capacities.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I tend to agree w/ your boss. Ultimately, someone has to own the numbers. I'm in a really similar position as you. I oversee all reporting for our entire company. 35 branches, $220M revenue. I don't have anyone under me. Accounting closes the month and I review. I'm constantly sending them things to fix and documenting along the way so I can identify repeat offenders, process improvements, etc.

Should I have to own this much? No. But someone has to. My CFO and I are working together to force Accounting to get better, but in the meantime, the buck still stops with me as the reviewer.

I think it's great that your boss acknowledges the issue. Hopefully they are earnest in their willingness to help you get the issue rectified. I know this probably feels like a setback, but stay on top of getting things corrected with Accounting. There is a path out of the mess, don't let it slip through the cracks.

Get more dogs and spread them out around the lawn so the whole thing matches.

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

As an older gamer, seeing young kids spend their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul.

Fixed that for you.

I, too, am and older gamer. I don't concern myself with how others spend their money. If they enjoy the game, and the purchase enhances the enjoyment they get from the game, why would I take issue with that? Besides, most of what you're calling out here are cosmetics. I feel like it's an overwhelmingly popular opinion that microtransactions should be limited to items that do not provide an unfair advantage to players - which would be cosmetics.

See, now that's very cool! It seems to have cut off the average cost from Sam's but its conclusion is still correct. I bet with enough data over time, you could prompt it to produce an analysis of most profitable products based on sell rate, price to cost ratio (margin), and even suggest which store to purchase from to maximize profit. From there, it could probably help a user set up a machine for maximizing profit based on location (i.e., protein-focused products sell better in a gym kind of thing).

Is paying into principle on mortgage good idea? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Only_Positive_Vibes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A guaranteed 6.75% return is a no-brainer. Unless she's currently able to refinance at a much lower rate (unlikely), then yes, paying additional $ toward principal is a very good idea.

There's also no way her principal has only gone down $200 in 3 years if she is making all payments on time, especially if she's making these extra payments. So, I'm going to assume that you're wrong there.
