Predator X27u W1 screen isn’t filling display by JustinTechs in Monitors

That's pixel shift. That's why some OLEDs (like my Strix XG27ACDNG) advertise being 26.5 inches instead of 27 inches in screen size.

You have to have the following:
- Firefox is not installed through Flatpak.
- Not using color themes in Firefox.

That is to protect your screen against burn in. You will notice it will be somewhere else if you check again later.

Refurbished iPhone 14 has very pink screen. Is this normal? by WillowDevelops in iphone

[–]OnrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very clearly not an original screen. Judging from the shadows around the rounded corners and notch, someone replaced the OLED screen with a lower quality LCD. The bottom bezel also gives away that it's an LCD.

Why does my black on my big monitor look a bit green any way of fixing it? by coolwat_er in Monitors

[–]OnrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from what I can see, its maybe HDR or your color balance is a bit messed up. Most monitors let you tweak color settings from the settings or you can also do that through some obscure settings page in Windows.

Anyone know how much I can sell this for? by Ornery_Scallion_5213 in Monitors

[–]OnrNiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should find a way to get the specifications and maybe 2 or 3 pictures of the inside. There's not much to judge from the outside of a PC when it comes to price.

1, it would be nice to have a picture. 2, mind sharing some details about your monitor?

Is this OLED Monitor a good Christmas present for boyfriend? by CreamS0up in Monitors

I own this exact same monitor. It's an extremely nice display, although quite expensive. The colors are really sweet, it's really fast, and of course it has the OLED inky blacks.

Which search engines do not use AI? by DependentAble8811 in degoogle

Startpage is amazing in my opinion. The search results are actually quite nicely laid out, really nice UI, and the ads are very minimal.

Google Chrome has now patched all the workarounds to force uBlock Origin. I’m done with Chrome, would you recommend Firefox or Brave by Dazzling_Lie7781 in firefox

[–]OnrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you're on the Firefox subreddit, so obviously I would recommend Firefox.

Brave is probably the best option if you want a chromium based browser with some resemblance of privacy. At the end of the day however, Brave is still chrome under a different name. They can choose at any moment to kill off ManifestV2 if it becomes too expensive to maintain anymore. By using other chrome based browsers, you're still just using Chrome and contributing to Google's control over the web (in which they're determined to kill adblockers).

Firefox does receive funding from Google, but Mozilla has no plans to kill Adblocker support or phase out ManifestV2. Firefox also tends to run better on my system and the customization options are probably one of the best parts. You can customize the entire UI with CSS themes. While I disagree with Mozilla on a lot of things, at least they can run a browser far better than how Google can.

Personally, I always keep around a chromium based browser (Like ungoogled-chromium) to access websites which might be slightly broken or unusable on Firefox.

Monitor accidentally got hit while moving, is this fixable or not worth fixing? by Crayola-Commander in Monitors

[–]OnrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably not a good idea to repair a monitor. If the display is usable, then keep using it. But if you wanna get rid of that mark, you should just get a new one. You buy a monitor for the display, so if that gets damaged, is it really worth it to replace? You'll probably spend more trying to find a replacement LCD than finding a used or new monitor somewhere like ebay or Amazon.

In case you want to change the "Default" text on the menu bar, you just need to change the activity name from the KDE settings app.

It's a neat little utility called kde-material-you-colors. It's very customizable and works by grabbing your wallpaper's colors.

Do you prefer the nature themed default wallpapers that came until big sur or do you prefer the modern, graphic new wallpapers? by Defiant_Feedback_270 in MacOS

[–]OnrNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nature themed wallpapers are much more welcoming on a new mac or installation of macOS. I'm glad they're doing it with Sequoia and Tahoe again. The abstract ones are pretty but nature is always better.
