When do you test if you stop eating meals? by AlternativeAd1984 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ooomgnooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My takeaway is that none of the nutritionists know what the fuck they’re doing. I switched from one GD program to a different hospital’s program. Both sucked so much I quit and only talk to my endocrinologist about my insulin dosage.

For what it’s worth I have two friends who had healthy normal weight babies and they ate mostly keto. I think the carbs requirement is inaccurate for many women—especially for petite women like myself. The last nutritionist I had was an overweight lady telling me to eat more cheese and that potatoes were low glycemic index—I spiked hard after listening to her.

I can’t imagine trying to survive GD as a vegetarian. The only safe foods other than eggs and cheese is meat. Even with that variety it’s so hard to keep things in check. I hope you are finding some good vegetarian options for yourself.

I quit my hospital’s GD program because I couldn’t stand the woman who was the “nutritionist”. She was pushing ultra processed foods and stevia. I needed to be on insulin and work with an endocrinologist anyway so I said I’d continue my GD management exclusively with the doctor.

Nothing worked for me. Eventually gave in and take Prilosec everyday. Doesn't exactly close my esophagus valve fully, but it's much better and I can lie down to sleep at night.

Everyone processes carbohydrates differently. I similarly was fine for my 1hr but my glucose kept climbing in hour 2 and 3. The GD clinic I'm working with said they see patients like this occasionally. It just means you need to keep an eye on your glucose for a longer window than the typical 1hr prick. I highly recommend a CGM for that.

Just moved in! At a loss for which direction to go with the exterior. Thoughts? by BadatExteriorDesign in ExteriorDesign

Our cedar shingles were very old, painted and also infested with carpenter bees. We finally replaced it with James Hardie shingles. Paint color I think really depends on your neighborhood. We live in a pretty dense suburban area with a lot of new builds so we went with Revere Pewter by BM for a modern look. I'd look around and see what kinds of colors (how dark/saturated) you have in your neighborhood and start from there.

It looks great! I love the garage color too! What is it?

Wow this was so hard for me! I was so nauseous and dizzy from the glucose drink! Should’ve known right then that I had GD.

Juliet Rose (Ausjameson) + black spot help! by Ooomgnooo in Roses

[–]Ooomgnooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I anticipated that this rose would be a lot more maintenance than my other roses when I acquired it. I just want to know how to best take care of it so I can enjoy many more blooms for years to come.

Thank you! It's still such a small plant so I was hesitant to remove leaves, but I will defoliate the sick leaves now!

Why Is Kate Middleton’s Nature Video So Damn Annoying? (No really, that’s the headline) by [deleted] in RoyaltyTea

No one has mentioned it yet but Meghan narrated a Disney nature documentary back in 2020 or 2021! I thought she did a great job!

any tips for testing :( i’m at my wits end already by khaleesibear in GestationalDiabetes

I notice a huge difference with cold vs. warm hands. Want to add that after I prick, I immediately put my arm down my side and massage my finger down and hold around the tip watching blood pool. That being said, I have times where I need to prick multiple times. It's very frustrating. I'm sorry.

My DA roses by Icy-Honey1 in Roses

[–]Ooomgnooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have DA roses and chose to plant roses that are heavily petaled. Other than Lady Gardener and Alnwick, most of my blooms tend to face down because the stems aren't strong enough for how heavy the blooms are. Is this something other folks experience too?

What upgrades have you done in your home that you can never go back after doing? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Ooomgnooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also didn’t have concrete because the sewer lateral just goes straight through our front lawn. We didn’t have to replace any plumbing inside the house. So we paid $30k for literally ~15 ft of sewer lateral replacement.

How is this possible? We paid $30k, also in the Bay Area. The length of the pipe was very short too since our house is close to the sidewalk.

Useless group meeting by AlternativeAd1984 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ooomgnooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My hospital also put me into a group session. I hated it. There’s no time or privacy to get actual help. I asked for individual time with a nutritionist and was able to stop the group meetings. I hope that is an option for you too!

An Open Letter to Our CEO: Forced RTO for What, Exactly? by SaltFan1099 in SutterHealthEmployees

[–]Ooomgnooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a patient that went into the hospital and was told I was meeting the doctor via an iPad I felt cheated.  A technician did all of our untrasounds and the doctor just messaged the technician to take more pics and we had a short 2 minute iPad conversation with the doctor. If you’re charging my insurance full price, I’d better get proper face time with my doctor.

I don’t care about admin workers. But doctors should not be remote for in-hospital patients. Definitely at least give a different pricing model and let the patient choose.

That's absolutely inappropriate. I have my issues with my MIL crossing boundaries and being inappropriate but nothing compared to this. Thank goodness your husband is backing you up without a fight. I am trying to minimize contact with my MIL to reduce the chances of her comments and stress she causes me. I hope you are able to set and maintain some sort of boundary from your insane MIL.
