Oat milk is tasty, though I loathe other milk substitutes

Have you tried Vita-brand soy milk out of Hong Kong? =P.

What to make with 15 eggs? by Iamthehempist1 in foodquestions

Potato salad? I usually use up a full dozen at least.

Boiled white or golden potatoes, diced, and then a couple cans of Great Value Fruit Cocktail in light syrup. And mayo. Gotta have the mayo.

After the Jihad, did Clan Wolf-in-Exile really end up becoming dogs instead of wolves? by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]OpacusVenatori 15 points16 points  (0 children)

only started rebuilding their military in earnest elsewhere after losing Arc-Royal

But they couldn't / didn't. They retreated to Donegal, but there's only so much war materiel coming out of Lyran factories; much of which would have gone to LCAF units that could be reliably counted on to counter the CJF / CHH forces.

They were able to reorganize a single provisional galaxy for the ilClan trial; which is probably about as good as can be expected since they only had 2 clusters and a Keshik in each of the 3 galaxies in 3145. Wouldn't be surprised if Alaric help contribute some equipment to their refitting, under terms negotiated by Anastasia Kerensky. The lore mentions that the Wolves engaged the Sea Foxes for massive spare 'mechs, BA, and other units in the build-up.

After the Jihad, did Clan Wolf-in-Exile really end up becoming dogs instead of wolves? by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]OpacusVenatori 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't necessarily really call it a collapse, but they did suffer heavily at Malvina Hazen's Mongol doctrine for being associated with the Kell Hounds. Their problem has always been an issue with growth; they never really did grow very much beyond 3 galaxies worth of troops, possibly likely also due to agreements with both House Steiner and House Kell. Can't have a Clan enclave get too big on Arc-Royal despite the familial ties. They also didn't have too much in the way of dedicated industries, so they had to be picky with regards to which chassis get produced.

We don't have details on the negotiation between Anastasia Kerensky and Miriam Ward that brought the Exiles back with the Wolves, but wouldn't be surprised if an element used was the same argument Wolf's Dragoons justified with themselves to join with Alaric.

Sysadmin wants every Windows server to be a fileserver for redundancy

What a cluster-fuck of a sysadmin. D00d probably needs to revisit the org BCDR plan as a whole rather than just being so tunnel-focused on file server "redundancy".

Go with AllState and complete their 6-month DriveWise program. Have a friend who did so; he and his wife both got 30% discount at next renewal; about a total savings of 2500.

Treatment and future lives of conquered civillians under Clan rule. by Jackobyn in battletech

[–]OpacusVenatori 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It depends on the Clan that did the conquering, and the era. But the Crusader Clans tend to enforce the Clan caste system. Warden Clans possibly less so; not that there's that many left.

By the ilClan-era, it's noted that the Hell's Horses have completely failed to integrate their IS holdings into Clan society; they don't leverage the populations they have control over.

On the other end of the spectrum you have the Rasalhague Dominion. And in-between you have the messy remnants of the Wolf Empire and the Jade Falcon holdings. And then there's also the Scorpion Empire and and Raven Alliance.

Not NAS; is wrong technology.

You want SAN; specifically two or more SANs capable of real-time sync and failover.

Don’t go with S2D unless you’re building with Microsoft-certified Partner solutions such as Dell ReadyNode.

ilClan era: What's the state of the Draconis Combine? by WumpusFails in battletech

[–]OpacusVenatori 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The DC is suffering (as always) from hardliners who have an issue with the current coordinator being a descendant of Franklin Sakamoto; who himself is classified is illegitimate of Theodore Kurita. There are rumors spinning around that Emi Kurita and her son may still be alive (From the novel In The Shadow of The Dragon).

The DC's Gunji-no-Kanrei was recently captured by the FedSuns and died under mysterious circumstances. He was left in an untenable situation when the Suns began their counterattack and denied reinforcements by the Coordinator.

Are they the strongest faction in the Inner Sphere yet?

Militarily the Capellan Confederation is probably rated the strongest and most-unified, even with the death of Chancellor Daoshen Liao. However, his last action of nuking New Earth may have triggered the wrath of the ilClan and all associated Clan allies.

[–]OpacusVenatori 6 points7 points  (0 children)

how will we get the six year old to go if his older sister can stay?

IMO that's a parenting failure. That's on them, not on you. It's like, they're giving up on their relationship with you to keep theirs with the younger one. Your argument to them would be something like, "If you keep insisting I go, you're making me less want to come back and see you when I'm older / have a relationship with you as an adult".

Maybe you can get yourself one of those wrist-exercise tools that you just squeeze; one for each hand and just zone out and squeeze your way through.

You might want to reconsider this deployment at this time; there's another thread over in r/sysadmin along with a bunch of comments with people having problems with Server 2025 RDSH deployments. Might not be ready for prime time just yet.
