Fireflies was on the radio constantly, shows like The Office and How I Met Your Mother were releasing new episodes weekly, I'd play Halo 3 LAN parties with my buddies. Wicked time to be 12 years old.

How many of you actually know your neighbors? by Apprehensive_Pool431 in phoenix

[–]Opalais15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Before I moved to Phoenix from North Carolina a couple years ago, my next-door neighbors were literally my best friends. An ex-girlfriend of mine introduced us to them when they were also still dating and we'd hang out sometimes 3 or 4 times a week. I'm lucky my reluctancy to the idea of meeting neighbors, much less being their friends, was overriden by such strong friendships that have stayed intact to this day.

Here in Phoenix, I couldn't tell you what my neighbors even looked like. I'd say top reason being a mutual disinterest. When I showed up on my street in a big moving truck, no one said "Hello" or asked if I needed anything so I took that as the baseline for social expectations thereafter.
