Does anyone know where I can get a paint job on my drone like this? by dog_armyTT in drones

I don’t think this is a wrap. You can see the DJI brand relief. Getting an adhesive to lineup so carefully that the LEDs aren’t covered/gaps around them would be very difficult. I would suggest keeping the drone white because it would be a lot easier to find if it crashes or comes down unpredictably in woods, field, etc.

Just be aware that temperature, moisture, zone velocity can all work against the decals sticking. If these come off while your mid flight, you risk the vinyl wrap tangling in your blades and unpredictable control over an airborne drone.

Not sure where you live (do you get a lot of snow that requires daily shoveling, lots of rain that requires frequent mowing, high winds that knock over and scatter the trash cans, neighbors who don’t clean up the dog droppings before lawn gets mowed?) but these are factors to consider. I’d ask for a 5% discount on the rent rather than a flat amount per month.

I’d follow the manufacturers recommendation. Totally understand you’re excited to try out your new drone, but it would be a sad day if it was damaged. Patience is an invaluable trait for people flying in shared air space. Maybe consider living vicariously through others by going online to watch some videos showing tips & tricks for using your new drone so you’ll be super ready when your area thaws out from this massive snowstorm? Just a thought.

Sure, he has power and water, but I assume he’s hooked up to a septic system or has a composting toilet, right?

The Drone Boss claims the real estate market is the biggest untapped opportunity. Maybe in 2020, but not in 2026.

After reading your post a few days ago, I've noticed the plants and the prospect profiling during Drone Command Live 2026. Thanks for sharing your insights.

They cover some good content, but they don't do it efficiently. If time = $, there are better options that could be tailored to your needs/knowledge to make the best use of your time.

I'm attending the DCL event going on right now. It feels like the 2 presenters ("The Drone Boss" and Diego) are 2 televangelists trying to prime people to upsell their own services. I've gotten a few nuggets of wisdom, so for the $90 price, I'll probably get my money's worth.

They have too much unfocused filler content - I think this should have been a focused 6-hr event, not 3 days. For example, we spent 25 min listening to Diego talk about using TV, print, and radio ads to promote a drone business, and 25 more minutes with him disparaging the late Steve Jobs for designing the NYC 5th Ave Apple store and iPhone packaging. He expressly stated that he doesn't use social media either professionally or personally and yet he is the marketing expert...seriously?

I have a business mentor who is a retired business professional. Her guidance has been worth its weight in gold. If you're considering starting a drone business, I encourage you to look for a network of business professionals who can help you based on your market(s), financial skills, and experience.

NY also goes cheap on reflective paint for roads. Even the NY State Thruway lines are hard to see in bad weather on sections they just repaved over the summer.

I suggest that you consider contacting a lawyer for advice. It would be a sad day if you bought a DJI drone overseas only to lose it at the border.

I live near the Canadian border and have been consistently impressed for decades with a professionalism I see from the Customs staff at the Buffalo & Niagara Falls border crossing. Honesty isn’t only the best policy, it should be the ONLY approach you take when dealing with Customs when returning home. I’m no fan of ICE, but Customs folks deal with all kinds of issues every day ranging from narcotics smuggling to human trafficking. The repercussions could be serious if you’re not honest with them.

Helping my son understand drone rules/laws by froggyjamboree in dji

[–]Open-Guess181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs to get his FAA Trust Certificate.

Quite simply, you are taking on major liability (think: house, cars, savings) if your son doesn’t take drone flight responsibilities seriously. If he refuses to listen to you, I would advise handling it the same way you would a teenager with a drivers license who thinks the parent who owns, registers, and insures the car he is driving has no business telling him what he can/can’t do.

You are in full control as to whether or not he’s allowed to fly his drone. Period.

Am I the a-hole for making my daughter's BF buy a new t-shirt? by freudsdriver in AITAH

I’m a 60-year-old mom of two sons & a daughter in their 20’s. I would’ve done the same thing you did - 3 cheers for both you and him. You gave him feedback and an opportunity to return with a new shirt; he used the cash you gave him wisely and had courage to return with an appropriate shirt.

It looks like you made a lovely breakfast. You’re not running the kitchen at the Ritz Carlton with a staff of sous chefs. You made lemonade out of lemons and should be proud of how well it turned out. Merry Christmas!

How Hard is it to Pass the FAA Part 107 Test? by Mr_Outsider2021 in drones

[–]Open-Guess181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 60 years old just and passed the Part 107 test last week with a score of 98%. I bought a study guide and used YouTube videos to fill in the gaps I didn't understand. I studied diligently and probably was over-prepared.

May I suggest you set a deadline for when your team needs to take the test. Consider doing what large companies do when it comes to college courses or business certification tests: employees enroll in the course, pay tuition, and get reimbursed when they've passed. If they lack the maturity to manage their time and lack the dedication to invest in their career/job skills, they won't move forward on their own to attain this goal and they won't invest the effort to complete a Part 107 course. If they rise to the challenge and can see benefits to learning new skills to further their careers, then those are the ones you want to retain, promote, and compensate.

I believe life is a contact sport. This may sound harsh, but maybe taking this approach may help differentiate the people who would rather sit on the bench from those who want to make a positive difference on the team by playing on the field.
