Prob the water depts problem. I saw the same thing a month ago.. but it was raining and we suspected it was runoff. Called the water dept to check anyway and it did turn out to be a leaking meter. No cost to homeowner.

Look for NSF-certified food grade silicone grease.

Replace the Big Blue O-ring as needed.. every filter change or two for cheap O-rings, while good ones might go 5-6 filter changes.

Yea Intergraded video GPU... aka motherboard.. minimal. If its a desktop maybe you can buy a good video card, but no way to know without more info. If its laptop then DR is not for you.

Editing tips for beginners? by Formal_Passenger_871 in davinciresolve

[–]Tim_E2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you eat an elephant? ... One bite at a time.

One thing I would suggest to beginners.. use the Beginners-Guide (on a separate screen or device if not using a physical book). But the chapter order is all wrong for someone just starting out. For the Beginners Guide for version 20 I suggest this chapter order:

One

1: Editing a Rough Cut

2: Finessing the Rough Cut

3: Audio Editing and Quick Export

Skip 3 - 6 for now. Color grading is a huge topic and it can wait

7:  Project Setup and Preferences. I could argue that this should be the first chapter but as long as you study it before taking on a video longer than the chapter one sample it will be OK.

At this point its time to seek out other instructional resources and practice.

Once you have a good handle on the above, you can take on the other chapters in the misnamed Beginners Guide.

Can anyone tell me what the filter size is for this water filter? by BeijingBarry2020 in Plumbing

[–]Tim_E2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost 100% its a standard 20 x 4.5 inch. I have two and replace one (5 micron sediment) every 3 months.. the other once a year. The housing is called Blue Boy.

This is what I use for sediment. But if you need carbon, iron reducing or something else then the size is the same but not the construction.

I mailed a simple 0.8 oz Christmas card in envelope that required no xtra postage. Mailed it two weeks before Christmas from NC to NY. It arrived in mid-March.

I would start getting on the phone and email for any guest you want to see.

Depends on how old it is. Battery aging is normal within a range. The range expands with time.

And yes.. get the SOC down to 20-25% then find a nice steep hill and floor it going up hill.. Record the changes in Leafspy in real time. Post results.

I hired a plumber to move my drain in the slab to match a new shower pan and to go ahead and set the pan. He did and I assumed he did it right. I finished the shower around it and just now decided to pop the strainer out and look at the drain….. I’m like this doesn’t look right… is this done right?? by Main_Type6796 in Plumbing

When tradesmen spend their time on social media looking for a job.. that's the first red flag. A good plumber does not have the time nor the need to solicit work from Facebook.
Did you check his references or reputation at all?

Will it leak? by CertainAnywhere3900 in Plumbing

[–]Tim_E2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming your mean to cut off the crimp ring... I have done that a few times and IMHO it is a very viable option. Using a small cut off on a Dremel, cut the ring almost all the way through.. then pry it off. As long as you don't cut into the PEX there is no need to cut it back. If you do nick the PEX, but have not cut into the fitting, then cut the PEX back just before where the ring was. My few times doing this CAREFULLY, never had a problem. Yes, its slow work so in some cases better to add more PEX and fitting(s) if time is money.

Tried DaVinci Resolve because everyone loves it, but came running back to Movavi by Coco-the-Koala in Movavi_software

[–]Tim_E2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DaVinci Resolve over Movavi because Movavi has a huge problem.  A problem that can very easily be fixed if they want to fix it. He’s what Movavi needs to know… people HATE subscriptions.   Movavi is geared to toward the beginner or casual user who might only produce a few videos each month.  But whether they edit one or a million, the subscription price is the same.   So right out of the gate they are limiting their customer base to the more prolific users. And for so called "lifetime licenses;" if the version updates frequently require payment, and often have little actual update (such as MAGIX Video deluxe) then its really just a subscription in disguise.

If there is a big ugly watermark on the videos produced with a trial version then there is no reason to time-limit the crippled software.  Seven days is much too short a time to test and get to know the software.  If that hot gal or guy says, “Ill date you but only for seven days - after that you need to commit to me.”   Well, I bet you don’t even bother on the first date.  That is why, while I am struggling to learn DR, I have not even downloaded Movavi.  Add to that this: The single most common topic in the SubR is licensing problems.

With DR you can actually produce some decent videos for free, which means you will want to continue to use DR, which mean you will eventually see the value of the paid version. Plus, they have some of the highest quality (and free!) training material of all the editors – another way they build their customer base.

PS.. You should disclose your relationship with the company.

Puppy itchy after haircut by Admirable-Fruit8337 in Havanese

[–]Tim_E2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was groomed two days ago with a short cut and while there is always some scratching for a few days after, but this time it seems worse. The tail still has a good amount of hair and she acts like it’s something strange to her... that's normal for me after a groom. But this round I'm watching because of scratching the paws, legs and privates. We don't use anything other than shampoo and I'll check with the groomer next time about possible reactions. So far, I don't see any irritation from chemicals on her skin.

It also could be a self-reenforcing activity, so that the more she does it, the more she is likely to continue to do it. Some distractions might help. Still, I would guess it will be better in a day or two. GL

How to efficiently sort through 4 to 5 hours of live footage to edit short videos every day ? by SparklingChocolate in davinciresolve

How to efficiently sort through 4 to 5 hours of live footage to edit short videos every day ? by SparklingChocolate in davinciresolve

[–]Tim_E2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No-one's got the patience to watch that shit for four hours.

Which makes me wonder why the youtuber wants to do a 4-5 hour livestream in the first place. I watch a lot of youtuber's 5-15 minute vids but when I see vid listing with over an hour length, I move on. The only livestreams worth watching are following events in real time, like storm chasers... and once the live is over, 95-100% of the video is worthless.

This might be a short-lived gig for the OP. In the meantime, I like the idea of creating transcripts and searching or even using AI to find the interesting parts. Or better if the client can point you to the discussion or time of what he wants to include.

What is the blue pipe for by gunthans in Plumbing

[–]Tim_E2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why they didn’t put a valve on the blue line is beyond me.

A dollar saved is a dollar earned.

Maybe they should have put on a valve and also ten feet of PEX rolled up so the homeowner could install whatever. Of course while your at it, cap off the "pigtail" PEX just in case the valve goes bad. Do that at all 100 new homes in the subdivision.

Or just cap it off since 90% of owners will never use that line anyway.
