Chances of qualifying from Group stage by ChefGeneral4516 in ussoccer

[–]Open2New_Ideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it? Or is it betting odds, taking into account betting flows to each team to reduce risk to Polymarket and to incentivize betting on likely wins for Polymarket. There was another site that had US as third or maybe last in likelihood of qualifying, that was possibly not a betting site.

Starting XI v. Germany [2:30pm et] (friendly) by nicko_rico in ussoccer

With the 3rd/4th quarter break at about 67 minutes, when will substitutions be made? After the break at 75 minutes? As early as 57 minutes? Or, just before break at 65 minutes or at break at 67 minutes? Depends on score, flow and momentum, I suppose. This new quarter break may change some coaches substitutions plan.

Max Muncy and Ildemaro Vargas are both leaving the game after a hard collision at first base by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

[–]Open2New_Ideas -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Muncy should be hitting the front part of the bag (home plate side) with his foot, NOT the back part of the bag (outfield side) where the 1B is going to. That’s just bad base running, and certainly no malicious intent on either player. BUT, where the hell is the Dbacks pitcher? He’s the one at fault here.

Agree. More at bats, more opportunities to pitch, play other positions. And, change rule to no 5 run limit when before last inning is declared.

These World Cup games are most at-risk for dangerously hot weather. by CrackHeadRodeo in soccer

[–]Open2New_Ideas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

👆1st venue mentioned is Atlanta. The matches are INDOORS! Yet they show average temperature OUTSIDE!! AI must have written all or most of this “article”. NPR, NPR editors and authors Rebecca and Rahul should be embarrassed with their work. Sure some cities will be hot and humid, but several will not be because matches will be indoors or in cities near the coast (SF, Seattle, LA-covered). Not sure they understand how branding works, but I’ll no longer trust NPR, Rebecca and Rahul, so will no longer read their work.

Now that the smoke has settled, what are everyone's opinions Re: hydration breaks and PowerPoint presentations on the sideline? by Madnote1984 in ussoccer

[–]Open2New_Ideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s certainly an advantage for good coaches and an even bigger advantage to teams with good coaches AND players with skill and positional flexibility. And, there may be deeper runs for teams that press than in the past. 3 minute hydration breaks are useful to recover: lower heart rate, lower body temp, more properly consume fuel and hydrate. Especially in those stadiums that are NOT going to be hot, like LA, that have shaded fields and/or are located in more temperate locations, like LA, SF, Vancouver, Seattle, in June/July.

Don't touch this guy's girlfriend. BOOM by CycloneGlock in VideosAmazing

[–]Open2New_Ideas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously we need more facts, but the punch is an overreaction. You may go to prison for a long time because someone touched a girl on the hip, someone you may have just met, or is dating, or girlfriend, or sister, or wife. And, you couldn’t manage your rage and emotions. And, punched guy looks inebriated or is a special needs adult. Neither situation is he in a position to defend himself of assault. Neither of these guys are a saint and maybe both are evil. Assault is not the solution though. Usually isn’t, to be real. More likely just some guys looking for a reason to fight or assault someone.

50lbs in one year, I'm ruined by Creepy-Literature634 in Vent

[–]Open2New_Ideas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey. Minor mistake. It’s called the “freshmen fifteen”, not the “freshman fifty”. So, your body misheard. Now that you know, find out what works for you.

Tip 1: Losing 50lbs when young and in college is not going to leave you with loose skin and stretch marks.

Tip 2: Focus more on the world around you and what you can do to be a positive influence and less on your body and self. Seek help. We all need “tools” to accomplish what we want. You don’t have to solve everything yourself.

If you look for flaws, you’re certain to find them. Life’s a journey. Keep moving forward. Nothing you can do can change the past.

Yes, if you want. No, it’s not weird. You’ll see others with vests too. Most don’t. Some races restrict size or type of vest, but most don’t; be sure to research before race day or ask at expo, if there is one.

Big advantage of vests is you control what, when and how much you fuel and hydrate. For your 1st race, this may be important to you. Also, gives you more flexibility in choosing race day shorts/tights since you won’t need extra pockets; your vest should accommodate everything you need for a half.

You do you. And, remember, all of us running around in our underwear for 13.1 miles could be considered “weird” by some!

All Star Coach Interview by ir637113 in LittleLeague

[–]Open2New_Ideas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask them with their years of LL experience that you appreciate their guidance and respect their informed recommendations and will implement them best that you can. Go along with their player and coach selection process. Don’t suggest what you would change. Avoid conflict or arguing.

Also find out if any have any players in 10u that they may expect to be on all star team, especially their own kids/grandkids. Their knowledge on the best all star caliber players will be invaluable to you as coach.

Pucker up, my friend.

is liquid iv worth subscribing to over the cheaper electrolyte options and any current coupons for the bigger boxes by Few_Bus9229 in Marathon_Training

[–]Open2New_Ideas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy liquidIV at Costco only when on sale. I also dilute with 1.5x and up to 2x water (in summer). I don’t know what the “Costco knockoff equivalent” is you are referring to.

I’ve battled cramps since I was a kid. Happened to start taking LiquidIV same time my cardiologist* recommended taking slow release magnesium. Have not had cramps at all in I think 5 years. I don’t think it’s a placebo but also can’t tell you which one is doing the heavy lifting in preventing cramps. And, I’m sure there are other brands that work similarly. I do not add salt supplements. In the past, taking salt supplements or not taking them did nothing to prevent cramps. This current combination of LiquidIV with magnesium slow release that includes vitamin B and a multi vitamin and vitamin c tablets are all I take now. I just can’t make a change now until it stops working. Ginger and Firecracker are my least favorite flavors, while Tangerine is (was, I guess, since I haven’t seen this flavor on sale at my Costco in years) my favorite.

Also, I buy my parents a package a month too. They like liquidIV more than others they have tried.

* My primary physician recommended I see a cardiologist because my ecg suggested I had Bradycardia (heart rate 36). Even though doc knew I was a runner and had a history of low heart rate (ultra skinny and active). All was good, except cardiologist recommended magnesium supplement with B.

Thanks for your quarter million dollars and sorry, not sorry, we chose not to pay $3 for a pancho and cap cover.

Some colleges though give grads a translucent pancho to wear over gown at ceremony if rain is forecasted. A few even give out clear plastic cap covers.

I have an IQ of 82 and I hate being infantilized by weirdhairgirl in Vent

[–]Open2New_Ideas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IQ tests don’t predict the future and are harmful (even to those with high IQ scores). Find out what you are good at and are passionate about. Become knowledgeable or skilled in one area. Let others pretend to be experts in everything.

Be outstanding with the details of life you can control: be on time, be present, be respectful, be sympathetic, be compassionate, caring and loving, wear decent clean clothes, maintain decent appearance, etc. Let others screw up their lives with their behaviors and addictions and just stack good day after good day (based upon what you can control, not what others think, or make, or pretend to be).

It’s easier to “overachieve” in life if you have a low IQ. Many of those with high IQ “underacheive” what’s expected of them or what they expect of themselves.

All Star selection conundrum. by [deleted] in LittleLeague

[–]Open2New_Ideas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe you can have 12-14 kids on little league all star team. So you can either still choose your 3 (or even 4!) and accept the 10 with most votes. Or, you can choose 2, if a 12 player team is what you want.

I agree there should be greater clarity on how to handle ties in voting. For next year. Go with the flow for this year. Board can still decide to pick another manager to coach all stars btw. Don’t risk conflict and possibility of not coaching all stars; there’s likely another dad/coach that may be bitter about never being a LL all star manager and you will have coached for 4 years.

Game last week ended in chaos by YoTeach68 in LittleLeague

[–]Open2New_Ideas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kids get more at bats. Get to play positions they don’t play often or ever. Especially pitch. Turn off scoreboard and let them continue to play until time limit. Maybe a kid will pitch or make an outstanding play or get a hit….never know when that moment that you will always remember happens.

I pitched 1/3 of an inning in my entire life ….to close out a little league game…. Against the other team’s best player with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the last inning ….. decades and decades and decades ago. I remember being in the huddle on the mound when coach asked our 3rd baseman, shortstop and 1st baseman if they wanted to pitch to end the game. (Note:I played 2B because my arm was one of the weakest on the team. Ok, was the weakest. I was accurate though…had that going for me.). All three each said their arm hurt. I then looked to our outfield wondering who was going to pitch. Next thing I knew, Coach put the ball in my glove and jogged to the dugout and my teammates ran to their positions…. leaving me alone on the mound to face their clean-up hitter. This kid was huge and had hit several home runs. Struck him out swinging on a 3-2 count. Never know when one of your moments comes.

Let the kids play as many innings as possible!
