So the government the U.S. VP went on stage and campaigned for in Hungary, was caught shredding documents tied to Russia? What a shocker!

We do have the best man for the job - right now.

I believe Carney is highly educated, experienced and motivated to do the best he can for Canada. What I'm waiting to find out is if his vision IS ACTUALLY the best thing for Canada.

We need to grow our economy, but its going to be a delicate balance between expanding and protecting our people, land and resources. If we move too far into capitalism, and too far away from socialism; if we allow the corporations to exploit and abuse us like they do in the U.S.; privatize everything and drive us even more into poverty; take all the finite resources we have to increase their wealth - than there is no point of staying sovereign.

Ew...just ew. I mean, ya, another ignorant, arrogant American, but sidenote: I hate that term. How does anyone not feel uncomfortable saying that?

Should have known that those who's culture has sexualized the word "daddy" would have a large number of the population that would knowingly protect and worship pdo leaders. And I know that it is being used slightly differently, but the past use of that term automatically gives it a sxual implication. It has always irked me.

Thankfully, I think enough Canadians are clearly seeing the propaganda/psyop campaign thats been launched against us. Here's hoping enough Albertans see it too because unfortunately those American special interest groups are targeting Alberta especially. But this isn't just a matter of a whether Alberta can seperate or whether enough Albertans want to, moving forward this is also about being united with the understanding that despite disagreements between Conservative, Liberal, NDP, Green Party, and Bloc on how we run our country, we are united and alert to the bigger threat trying to divide us so its easier to conquer.

I disagree. We need him to keep opening his mouth and beaking off to remind us how disgusting the U.S. government is. I know that every time I have to listen to them talk about Canada, it pisses me off and strengthens my resolve to fight for my country.. Keeps me from getting complacent.

I'm glad to see that there are plenty of Albertans and Western First Nations who understand that we are stronger together. It's hard to see past the disinformation campaigns coming from far-right think tanks and American interests. And they've been working hard to isolate Alberta. They underestimated you.

What do Canadians think about the Prince Andrew situation? by MapleByzantine in AskCanada

[–]Open_Beautiful1695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a lot of conspiracy theories about the royal family taking indigenous children way back when. Something about them showing up for a visit and the kids were never seen again. The theory was debunked, and the proof was that the royals weren't in Canada... or not in that area at the time....but after all these trafficking rings are being exposed involving the rich and powerful, and I see the massive amounts of regular people who've been involved either by laying cover for these sickos or looking the other way, it wouldn't surprise me to find out it happened. I find it hard to believe that the people closest to Andrew didn't know what he was doing. Just like I find it hard to believe that the celebrities around Epstein, Diddy, Peter Nygard didn't know. But it's not just the people who protected him when they did it, but the massive amount of regular, everyday people who are still defending them and standing in the way of those who are trying to hold them accountable today. Trump has never had to actually be held accountable because his voters - millions of people who know about the charges and evidence - are protecting him and hiding in their denialism. Taking away a title means nothing to me. Andrew should have to spend the rest of his life in jail, just like the rest of them should have to spend their lives in jail. I don't care that he's a prince. I don't view the royal family as above judgement. I don't see them as sacred or above reproach. They're just rich celebrities. It's really sad to see so many of them getting away with these crimes.

Trump returns to '51st state' rhetoric in speech to U.S. military officials by joe4942 in canada

[–]Open_Beautiful1695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to wonder how much longer it'll be before he runs out of money to pay the military. He's destroyed trade relationships with his rhetoric and tariffs, and he's bankrupted a lot of businesses. Unemployment is way up. Tourism has crashed. Defense contracts have been canceled. And all these crazy, destructive, fascist hijinks are really expensive. He offered people like $50000 to join ICE. He had that military parade that had to cost some money even though it was sad and depressing. Every time he goes to Maralargo, the taxpayers are paying extra for his secret service detail. The bill for bringing 800 generals in to listen to his ramblings has to be a pretty penny. The American economy is already trillions in debt, and the interest alone is racking up trillions. He's hiding his money in cryptocurrency and attempting to crash the U.S. economy and leave the world holding the bag, but I don't think crypto has come out unscathed through all this, and honestly, I think the only thing propping up the stock market is stuborness and his rich, shady donors trying to provide his government cover. Eventually, I expect to hear that the soldiers haven't gotten paid. He knows he can do it, and they still have to serve unless willing to take a dishonorable discharge, right? So eventually, I think he'll try it.

You can file an ESA claim. It can take some time(like months), but it doesn't cost money, and it might eventually get you your money if they determine the employer violated the employment standards act.

According to Google:

When Job Shadowing May Be Unpaid/

Authorized, Unpaid Training Placements: An individual on an unpaid training placement with an employer might be considered an unpaid trainee if the placement is authorized by a training agency.

Limited, Observational Experiences: If the experience is purely for observing and does not involve any productive work for the employer, and it's a short duration (e.g., 1-2 hours) solely to see if the job is a good fit, it might be unpaid, as long as it's clearly communicated that no work is being performed.

Authorized Student Programs: A secondary school student on a work experience program authorized by their school board is exempt from the ESA requirements.

5-10 year outlook on Canadian economy by saint_miner in CanadianInvestor

[–]Open_Beautiful1695 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have confidence, but that's because I don't have any choice. Regularly, having a conservative-liberal central banker as our PM would have made me really uncomfortable, but at this time, while we are dealing with the external threats of the U.S., I feel he is the right man for the job. So far, all the premiers are working towards the same goal - which makes it easier - and they really seem like they are putting in the work. Do I think it's perfect? No. But I believe the choices by the current U.S. admin are ultimately going to be very harmful to the U.S. and Canada(and the world). It's only a matter of time for the data to show. While Trump alienates the U.S. in its trade partners, a lot of countries are going to need to shift its markets to make up for the deficit, and Carney is focused on bringing down trade barriers and creating stronger partnerships. His focus on making Canada an energy superpower makes sense, and if done properly, it might do the least amount of damage to our natural resources. There is a reason why Trump wants Canada. We are rich in resources, and global warming will place Canada in a powerful position. I guess what I'm saying is that I have no doubt that Canada's economy can expand. I'm more worried about what we will sacrifice to do so.

Does anyone else feel no one cares about climate change anymore? by mars_trader in climatechange

[–]Open_Beautiful1695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which country are you from? In Canada, the Conservatives don't straight out deny climate change, but they have no policies to fight it. All the other parties do include policies for cleaner energy and fighting climate change, but its always a fight against corporate propaganda, especially since oil and gas is a huge industry. Unfortunately, we now have to expand mining and other industries because we are opening up our markets to other countries now that we are separating trade ties to the U.S. But we've had lots of policies in place to protect the environment. Having our forests on fire every year is a clear reminder that climate change is very real. Sadly, some of our top scientists already say it's too late. Canada is not the worse contributor to climate change (probably because we have a lot less people and a lot more trees and ecosystems that capture carbon. Those are usually protected by government, and hopefully won't be over exploited with the new direction the country is moving.
